I Don't Have A System But I Have Skills
Leaving a Life to the Death

Leaving a Life to the Death

'It's been 3 years since I got reincarnated into this cool world.'

Nathan was lying down on his bed with his two hands being placed under his head.

'I've been very happy living in this world. Well, I'm a little bit sad when I'm still an orphan a long time ago but I met my best friends after and I became so much happier.'

He stood up and walked in front of the mirror.

'I can't even remember almost all of the small events that happened from my past life because my mind is currently filled with happy and exciting memories from this new life I have now.'

He grabbed a towel and went downstairs. He walked in front of a wooden tub, big enough for a person to fit.

'This world is quite different from Earth. I feel like I've gone back to the 16th century but with kingdoms. And also magic, monsters, skills or power, and a leveling interface or what the people here usually call...'

The System.

Nathan took his clothes off. He placed his foot in the wooden tub that was filled with warm water.

'I've been training my physical capabilities to be like an adventurer so if I finally have my own system I'll receive a huge boost.'

He soaked and relaxed his body in the tub for quite a long time.

"I don't want to think of dying anymore ever again."

Tap!

"Hey, Nathan. Don't lose too much hope. You can still try next year if you gain some amazing achievements before you take the test and get a system." Neil said with a worried look.

"Yeah! Keep it up! There is a new year next year! and the year after that! You can always get a system that way!" Claire said, trying to cheer Nathan.

"You should get going and have a big achievement so you can get a system. Don't be too sad that we will catch up to your strength." Tyler said with nothing but a straight-face.

"TYLER!" Neil and Claire shouted at the same time.

"You guys, what are you saying so sudden. It's not like I'm gonna kill myself or something just because I didn't get a system like everyone, besides I can still go train while I currently don't have one, right?" Nathan said before leaving a faint smile.

"Ah... yeah, but aren't there people who killed themselves with a reason like yours, right?" Claire said.

"Huh? Do I look like I do something like those?'' Nathan asked.

"Uh... no," Claire said helplessly.

"Anyways, I'll be off then," Nathan said as he stopped at the entrance of the city.

"Sure. Meet us anytime you want, Nathan." Neil said.

Nathan and the others bid they're own farewell and went on their own ways.

He didn't go inside the city walls and went straight to the grasslands at the east, where people in the kingdom and the city rarely even go to.

In the middle of a vast field of grass and reeds, there was a fairly large but simple-looking wooden house in the middle of a small hill.

Nathan was obviously in deep thought while he was walking towards the wooden house. His bodily functions were working properly but it can't be said the same thing as what was going on inside his mind and his emotions.

"Those people... The people who looked at me with their eyes of disgust and disdain... Scums. I thought this world won't have the likes of the people on the Earth but I guess I was wrong.'

Nathan stopped at the stairs that connect to the deck and the front door.

'Then from today on, I... I will show them that I can be a man who will survive in this world without even having a help from a system."

He went in front of the door and noticed that it was slightly opened.

"Ah? Did I left this opened?" Nathan said inwardly.

He came inside the house and froze on the spot as he looked at the surroundings.

One glance inside and you can tell that something not good had happened inside his house while he was away.

The table and the chairs were flipped and were out of place, the ornaments and the books on the shelves were disordered, and lastly, all of the storage which was made out of woods like drawer and cabinets were left open.

The whole mess inside Nathan's house was clearly theft.

As he regained his senses, he didn't care a thing about the mess in the living room as he walked straight to the bedroom.

Inside there, was no differenct than the mess in the living room.

Nathan still didn't give a damn about any of it. He crouched down and looked something to find under the bed.

He stretched his hand and grabbed a wooden box before standing up again.

Nathan paused for a moment and soon tried to open the box with his focused eyes.

Soon after opening it and seeing what's inside, his heart sunk.

'Ah... it's gone'

My keepsake.

The memento of the orphanage...

And my first friend.

The one I loved the most.

It's all gone.

Nathan's body drooped.

He became somewhat depressed.

Once again.

The wooden box from his hands fell.

As soon as it touched the ground, Nathan suddenly reminisced his life in the past.

TAK!

Tons of paperworks were placed down heavily in front of Nathan, who was sitting in his office chair while looking at his desktop with his thick eyebags.

At that point in his life, he constantly thought about resting and going to his deep slumber.

Eternally.

He was enslaved by his boss by making him overwork, he was not getting any rest, he was starved, he was harassed by some of his co-workers, he was scammed, he was robbed, he was down.

He was depressed.

One time, he didn't realized that he went into the rooftop of his office building.

But somehow he seemed to liked walking towards the edge of it.

Nathan went on top of the short barrier of the rooftop and stood straight with his arms open.

"Ah... The wind is cold."

He smiled before closing his eyes.

"It's nice and..."

Comfortable.

If leaving my life to death is this good then I like this. I want this...

Forever.

Nathan's body goes with the air and slowly fell and descend freely by the force of gravity.

His thoughts and emotion flew away and so does he.

THUMP!

Nathan opened his eyes. He saw nothing but darkness.

He finally felt comfortable once again so he closed his eyes again and rested.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

THUMP!

Nathan opened his eyes and saw nothing but whiteness.

He felt warm and relief swelling through his body so he closed his eyes again and rested.

THUMP!

Nathan opened his eyes.

"Oh, Nathan! You're awake! Great. Come on, get up. Lady Anna already prepared the meal in the orphanage..."

And foresaw his new life blooming brightly.

"Ugh. Why are you still doing there sitting and blinking like a chicken? Let's go!."

Even though Nathan already heard that the girl in front of her hated his blinking, he still did it continuously.

"Eh? Why you!"

"Huh? Ah... Sorry." Nathan spoked in surprise.

"Who... Who are you?"

"EH?! WHAT ARE YOU TA...!"

Nathan suddenly noticed that his hearing dwindled badly.

He tried to touch his ear.

But then...

ACK!

His head received extreme pain.

It felt like it was going to crack at any moment.

Then it suddenly vanished in the blink of an eye.

Nathan felt great again like nothing ever happened.

But what has changed was the vast memories that sunk into his mind.

Plenty of years of living a life just fell into himself.

It was like watching all types of movies and remembering it vividly.

Or simply put getting 5 to 10 years of someone's life being added into your own life.

Well, that was Nathan's explanation to it.

Hey.

TWACK!

"I just said 'hey' so many times now, you blockhead! Are you deaf!? Or was it your intention!?"

The girl was obviously angry that she even tried to smack him again once more.

"H-Hey! Don't do that...! Uh... Ara… Aria! I just woke up so my mind was a bit messy, okay? I'm sorry." Nathan jumped up in shocked thinking he was going to be hit.

"Eh~? You actually felt sorry? I can't remember the last time you said that word."

She said while making a confused look and doing a suspicious stare at Nathan.

"R-Right... Haha..."

"You're lucky that it's your birthday is just a couple weeks from now or you would've been dead."

"Y-Yeah...? Hey, isn't that a bit... harsh?"

"Che. Anyways, let's go now. Your shabby shelter will collapse soon so I might as well be safe."

"You..."

Aria then laughed so hard after saying what she wanted to say since she went for Nathan.

She soon walked with Liam silently following her behind.

'Hm. What's this feeling?'

Nathan stopped for a moment before he continued walking as he recalled something.

"Oh. My 'self' in this world must be in love with her since they met but... Currently... We're just thirteen years of old..."

And just like that Nathan's life began anew.

He didn't even care that he was in another world.

He didn't even remember that he went to depression.

He quickly adapted to his new environment.

Or to be more precise, he wanted to be adapt without even knowing why.

"Nathan, my child, sit here with your siblings. We were waiting for you."

"Ah. Yes, Lady Anne. I'm sorry I was late."

"Oh~ Nathan? You're learning from your mistakes. How nostalgic. fufu~"

The woman sitting next to Lady Anne was caught by surprise when the word 'sorry' came out from Nathan's mouth.

"I know right. Lady Anne, Lady Tina. Nathan has become a new leaf. Out catterpillar underwent a metamorphosis and became a beautiful butterfly~ He is now called The Fresh Nathan. PFFT!"

"Aria, you...!"

HAHAHA!

FUFUFU~

Laughter soared throughout the whole room, from the youngest orphan to the most gentle, Lady Anne.

They all showed their joy at that exact moment.

Days passed by since waking as the new Nathan and all he did was to familiarize himself to the children and the ladies.

A week passed to Nathan, who was all busy doing chores and taking care of the children.

And another week passed with Nathan going out and doing fun things with his beloved friend Aria.

Haa~

"Isn't it beautiful?"

Aria sat down in the ground where the grass was resting all over the floor and with the shadow of the tree shading them from the sunlight.

Besides her was Nathan who was unnoticeably enjoying the view.

"Yeah... Ah! Beautiful your face, Aria! We didn't even tell the Ladies that we're going somewhere."

"eek! It's fine, It's fine... Probably...?"

"Ugh... You careless jellyfish."

"Nathan... What did you just say..."

Nathan glanced sideways as he felt a cold glare.

"Ah haha... It was nothing. Y'know! Just a little bit of senseless jokes coming from my mouth... Haha...!"

THWACK!

"Keuk! It hurts!"

"Hmph. You deserved it."

"Fuu~ To think that I was affected by my old self in this world. My heart really became that of a thirteen years old... or is it that I just want to become young again... Well, in any case, I can't believe that I like this girl." Nathan said inwardly.

WHOOSH!

"Hee~ Happy Birthday, Nathan!"

"Happy Birthday, Nathan!"

The children in the orphanage cheered loudly as Nathan blew the candle in the small birthday cake he received from the ladies.

"Thank you very much guys, thank you, Lady Anne and Lady Tina. I don't deserve this."

"Child, you are the eldest in the orphanage. And you have been taking care of the children since then. You deserve it fully well."

"Fufufu~ That's right, Nathan. So go eat your cake before the kids won't let you."

"Thank you again... Alright! Hehe, Let's eat!"

"YEAH!"

Later in the afternoon, Nathan and Aria ran away from the orphanage and went to their usual place.

Casual chatter was loosened between Nathan and Aria without their smiles disappearing for a minute. Not until Aria halt his faint laughter for a moment and glanced at Nathan with her crystal eyes.

"Uh, Nathan..."

"Yeah...?"

"I wanted to tell you something for a long time now but..."

"Hm? But what...?"

Nathan got no clue what she was talking about because he was busy thinking about how to tell his feelings for her. Little did he know that Aria was the same.

"Hng... Nathan... I... I–!"

BOOOOOM!

Aria cut his words mid-sentence as she heard a loud sound that echoed throughout the whole area. Both she and Nathan swayed as the earth shuddered.

"H-Hey! Nathan, what was that!"

Aria immediately questioned him as he was near the direction of the explosion.

Then Nathan stood up leaving Aria sitting on the ground.

Aria was dumbfounded that he left her behind but she was more dumbfounded that Nathan was still not talking with his shocked face.

"Na-Nathan, what are you looki-..."

Nathan gulped before taking one step forward. He saw the familiar fairly small wooden mansion while behind it was thick smoke and dense dust which covered an extremely large area.

"The... The orphanage... Aria, the orphanage!"

He soon began running towards the orphanage at the speed where he can run with Aria beside him.

In the middle of their way, Nathan can't help but asked something.

How can a large explosion be held in this fantasy world where guns and explosives have yet to exist.

He revealed his thoughts and asked her Aria about it.

But Aria only said that it's not an explosion caused by a mere weapon or some sort. She stuttered with her before saying something absurd and unbelievable in Nathan's past world, Earth.

A horde of monsters would be in their slumber inside a gigantic rock called 'meteor', that meteor will eventually crash into a random place in the continent twice every month.

All of this was caused by the "Monster King" that has the power to make a meteor and control monsters to get them to there and create havoc when they land.

Nathan smacked his lips as he heard the story about the monsters in this world. He also remembered his past from his current life that many people in this world lived with magic powers and insane physical strength.

He transmigrated into a perfect but terrifying fantasy world.

SHIK!

As they passed through the thick bushes, Nathan and Aria suddenly stopped while their tense faces finally soothed.
