Goblins and Preparation

IDBIRR Chapter 5: Goblins and Preparation.

After killing my first mobs. I felt a sense of accomplishment.

Wasn't that a great start?!

Now, now, I ain't trying to have the fun side take over. But I still feel proud of myself after my overwhelming victory from earlier. At best, I could probably take out a bunch of monsters all by myself.

Confidence builds up from achievements and I plan to proceed slowly with a milestone mindset.

Preparation, a feat that is most crucial in moments of an unknown scenario.

For my preparation, I need to learn about monster behavior.

And that's what I'm planning to do right now.

I phase through the walls and observe monsters from close by. Sometimes, they wouldn't even know they're just leaning behind the wall where I'm currently at.

While being inside these walls, my presence is almost completely erased. It is as if I am the wall itself. I say sometimes because in some often occurrences, the monsters would feel a creepy feeling of being watched by nobody.

Thanks to that, they either run away from where I was observing them and never return to that spot again, or they shake from fright in hopes to figure out who was eyeing them at quite a distance. Obviously, these impedes the progress of my observation, that's why I had to limit myself from watching them a little too longer than expected.

If I keep doing what I did before, I might not be able to see their usual behavior in their natural daily habits.

I-...It's creepy, yes, but what do you have to point for? This can help me understand my enemies a lot more better before I hunt them down.

Knowing your enemy is one of the best preparation a person can do.

While I was observing the mobs in different locations and rooms. I noticed that Goblins are usually grouped together when they hunt inside the Labyrinth.

So how about that one stray goblin that I encountered earlier? It suddenly popped out of nowhere!

The answer to that question, a scout is what it may have been. Goblins aren't completely dumb I guess, they obviously use their heads in hunting for prey.

Just like humans, they move in groups and send one or two people to scout the area ahead for dangers or maybe a new location for hunting grounds.

I've killed their scout earlier. So a group of Goblins are headed their way to check out on why their Scout is late for their meet up.

While I follow their trail as I phase inside the walls of the Labyrinth. I wonder about how I could upgrade my own skills.

Ah. One of the Goblins tripped.

Goblin: "Kee-kee! Eerk!"

I notice that I have 3 skill pts, but how should I use them?

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

[[Analyzing your Question.]]

[[...]]

Woah! You surprised me. Why do you always speak out of nowhere?!

[[Please be quiet. I am analyzing.]]

[[...]]

Wha-

Hmm...

I look at the Labyrinth's map and saw that the group was headed towards the entrance of my private Room. I guess they really are tracking the scout's tracks. It won't be long before they find my private Room.

I should try and kill them all as soon as they arrive. The more quietly I do my deeds, the safer my base will be.

If that reindeer comes back to visit, I want to do my best and protect the peace that surrounds my area.

For goblins to secure it, I see it as a major offense for my reindeer friend. Creatures like deers and whatnot prefer a more peaceful ambience, rather than an monster infested one. So they tend to avoid such places like those. If that happens, the Reindeer won't ever come back to visit me.

That's...one thing I fear the most.

[[Your question has been verified.]]

[[Skill pts can be used to upgrade skills.]]

[[To upgrade your [Skills], please tap the [Skill] Tab beside beside your [Status] Window.]]

I searched through my [Status] window and saw a few tabs on it's left side. One of them was labeled [Skill].

There were exactly five tabs on the left side of the Status panel.

[Stats]

[Skill] (New!)

[???] (New!)

[Inventory] (New!)

[Evolution] (New!)

Each tabs were of curious attention, especially the [???] Tab. Sadly, even after touching it, it did not reveal anything.

I'll check it out one day once it's available for me to see. Right now, tending to my skills is a higher priority. All five of my skills were present, also of course the new skill I recently recieved.

[Body Bullet]. A pretty deadly skill, I'd say this is my one way ticket to an easy life of hunting monsters.

Curious enough to tap the skill, I viewed of what else I could do besides viewing my Skills.

[Body Bullet Lvl.1]

Spend Skill Pts to upgrade?

[-] 0 [+]

And there it was, the upgrade function.

[[A skill upgrade costs only for about 1 pts each per Lvl upgrade.]]

[[The only restrictions you will receive upon Skill upgrades are Evolution stage requirements.]]

[[May I ask if these answers have helped you for your questions?]]

That does sound like an easy upgrade system. Ah and yes, thank you for giving me these informations...

[[Administrator, if you would like to refer to me. That is my name.]]

Ah, yes, your help is greatly appreciated Administrator Ma'am. It's...quite a unique name, a very rare name that's for sure. I hope I could count on you again next time, Ma'am!

[[Your words are truly kind. I am only obliged to your being to serve you well as your Administrator.]]

With that, Administrator remained silent for the rest of the moment. Honestly, at first I actually thought I was in one of those game shows back at my old world. Or maybe a fraudulent act to scam me? I was afraid she would trick me later on. But as things took for a turn, It looks like I was wrong.

I'm very grateful if not for her. If she weren't here, I'd be hiding inside my room scared and confused.

I raise my finger and touched the panel, putting two points into my [Body Bullet] skill.

Since it's currently my only active offensive skill, I'd better make good use of it and try to to master it as soon as I can.

For some reason, I still can't activate my [Earthen Warrior] skill, If I spent all my Skill pts on it, It'd only be a tease of when it will be available later on. That's why I'll only give it one point for now. Gradually raising it's level would be my best bet to manage my abilities.

Now, let's see what has changed after their upgrades.

[Body Bullet (Passive) Lvl.3]

Body Bullet - Passively activates upon exiting the state of [Earth Walk]. This skill allows the user to accelerate with significant speed and shoots them out towards the direction their body has exited. If this skill comes in contact with a target enemy in it's path of direction, it will inflict an amount of (60) dmg. Bonus Effect: Upon entering the state of [Body Bullet] your body will be coated with a wind force that deals an additional (15) dmg against an enemy.

[Earthen Warrior Lvl.2]

Earthen Warrior - A Warrior Transformation shall commence. Drastically Increase Atk stat with a debuff of lowered Def stat for a limited duration based on the skill's active duration as well. Skill effect is only active for 6 minutes, Atk stat gains 200% of increased buff effect. Def stat will be debuffed for 30% of debuff effect. (No MP cost)

Holy moly! Those are great increases on effects! Although I can't use [Earthen Warrior] right now, but once I do. I'll surely be an unstoppable monster once I acquire it's active use!

But before that...

We were finally close to my own Room.

Let's go hunt ourselves some pesky Goblins.
