Year 1545 B.E. Month 1, 28th Day (Before Empire)
15 Years after Reincarnation
My name is Glenn Roy. Second born son of House Roy. Fathered by Corian Roy and Mothered by Celine Roy. The only "full blooded" son of House Roy. That's right my older brother is a bastard and not just by birth. Older than me by two years James Roy is a sure kill bastard due to the sheer annoyance he can be... Due to our... sibling rivalry/bromace.
After being born and getting acquainted with the new world I was in , I proceeded to acquire knowledge. There is a saying that knowledge is power and due to my wealth of knowledge from my memories pre-reincarnation I had a lot of power since a very young age.
House Roy is a family of the Upper Nobility in the Country of Lorraine, and based in the capital Lorraine. Lorraine is a country reminiscent of Medieval/Victorian France. Art and Culture are flourishing, but there are no guns hence the medieval feel. No this world is a place of swords and magic and upon learning this I adapted quickly.
Seeing how I was a sci-fi/fantasy nerd (specifically star wars inclined if it was sci-fi) this was like a wet dream. At the age of 3 I cultivated a powerful mana sense being able to detect mana signatures from at a 150 ft. range. When I told my parents about it they were ecstatic and immediately began to have me tutored in the ways of magic.
Included with this magical training, were the lessons in etiquette , math, history and geography, and science. Years passed and at the tender age of 10 I began my training with the sword. These years have been good to me and are probably have been the best years in my 35 soul years (years before reincarnation plus the 15 afterwards). It was at this time I began to clash with my bastard of a brother.
Some insight into my brother James before I make him out like a villain. James was the first born son of Corian Roy (our father) and some unknown minor noble woman. My mother Celine and James were having a hard time conceiving a child in there 5 years of marriage at the time, so good ole' pops decided to "ensure" he had a male heir. Thus James Roy is born, and since my mother had yet to be pregnant she accepted James as a fail safe. Who knew that just a short 2 years later I would be coming into this world.
So as I began to show excess talent, intelligence, and growing skill my brother was worried for his position in House Roy. As first born he technically should have inheritance rights, but he is not of full blood. Worried that I would oust him from his special position we began to have scuffles and disagreements. Even though we were years apart I was a sponge absorbing the knowledge and skills at an alarming rate. Every time we trained together I could see it in his eyes, the fear and the jealousy.
My brother began attempt to bully, discourage, and outperform me. I was no scaredy cat so I met my brother head on every time. Our parents thinking this was simple sibling rivalry, not only encouraged this behavior but incited it. Contests were held before dinner the loser missing out on a meal and privileges. This continued till I was 13 and ended the month before my brother turned 15

Year 1543, Month 4, Day 1
My brother was my equal in all things intelligence , swordsmanship, looks, all except for magic. Compared to me James was a late bloomer and he always hated this fact as it tended to be thrown in his face often, though you wouldn't be able to tell from the outside. Finally we had our last confrontation in the training yard.
I was in a hurry I had over slept and would miss my morning lesson. As i was rushing to make my way there I collided with someone.
"Move Little Mageling !"
As I looked over to the person who would refer to me ask such, I noticed it was James. I tired of his constant provocations 3 years I have put up with this shit , it wouldn't last another day.
Angered I got up and drew my long sword
"Draw your sword or I will cut you down where you stand"
James looked at me in shock. Sure I always would challenge and combat him but never had I come at him with the intent to kill. Much to his credit he took it all in stride and drew his blade and we engaged in a lengthy duel.
Slash, parry, thrust, dodge. We danced with out blades completely in rhythm yin and yang. Soon James made a mistake and I capitalized.
*THWACK*
That was the sound my fist made when it collided with his temple. The force of the blow causing him to spin on his heels. Using the rotational force James came back around and hit me in the sternum with the pommel of his sword.
*THUD*
The blow knocked the wind out of me , but as I was being sat on my ass I managed a punch that dropped him. We both sat/laid there coughing and getting back our breath. With my anger gone in a whirlwind of physical activity I took this time to ask a question.
"Why do we always end up fighting?" Still panting for breath James looked up and smiled, a sincere smile followed by a small laugh
"I have no idea" he replied and looked me in the eye "Though if we could stop fighting each other we'd probably be a damn good team"

15 Years after Reincarnation
After that me and my brother reconciled. Becoming brothers who were tougher than steel and always had each others backs. James left that next month to spend the next three years at Lorraine National Academy of Combat & Magic. Fifteen years old is the coming of age, when a boy is now considered a man and for most nobles this is the age their child is sent to the Academy for further training. Today I turned 15 , next week I go to the Academy for preliminary exams.
Tonight.... I celebrate
