Scene 1 - Rabbit Hunting
A little boy popped his head from a bale of hay stacked near the farm house. He is covered from head to toe with straw in his long sandy brown hair. His eyes are wide with innocence.
Pulling his body from the straw he rolls forward while carrying a while fluffy creature in his tiny arms. The white rabbit in his arms struggles vainly . The boy, impervious to its frustration, runs sneakily behind the cobble stone wall. He peers off over the top only to duck down as he see spots a knight, a mage and a monk.
They are fussing over their equipment and doubling checking the inventory in their bags before they set off on a journey. He puts a finger to his mouth and makes a ‘shhh’ sound to the white rabbit. Peeking again, to check if the coast is clear, he slinks behind the cobble stone wall. He makes a dash in the clear green field running over to the next set of cobble stone wall in the farmer’s picturesque field. Running into the sparse forest he scrambles over rocks and tree roots eventually reaching a small babbling creek. Unperturbed with path being blocked he walks upstream eventually finding an uprooted tree he can cross.
On this side of the creek he comes across some wild berries growing wildly in among the brambles, using his free hand he stuffs some into his mouth and some into his pocket. walking deeper into the forest, the trees begins to become denser and sinister. The child ventures deeper crawling under brambles until eventually he reaches a clearing at a circular clearing near a cliff wall. Indented on the cliff wall is a niche hole. it is hollowed with varying overlapping circles, creating a carved out flower. Its carved insides, however, was filled with a shadow blacker than black.
“Pit chan, I got wrabbit.”
The shadow nods happily at the rabbit and then it oozes a tendril drifting side to to side.
“Good my child, did anyone see you approach the secret base?”
The child shakes his head he unable to suppress his excitement he bursts out
“Pit chan, Pit chan shoe me some magiks tricks.”
Shaking the rabbit in his hands towards the niche in the wall.
The shadow in the wall looked as it smiling. Complying with the child’s wishes the black shadow instantly flashed out like a thin rapier. Slash, black lightning flickered in the circular clearing .
The boy stared wide eyed wondering what the trick was. He felt warm liquid trickling down his arms. He glanced down at the rabbit held between his arms only to see a bloody mess,
the rabbit’s head was sliced in two. The little boy could clearly see the inside of its brains.
Strangely, the innocent eyes he stared at pitchan expectantly.
“Do it, do it, do it.”
Shaking the mutilated body of the rabbit, its head sagged, waving two and fro and little droplets of blood cover the floor; its lifeless eyes staring towards the sky. The shadow vibrated (ripple… like when you put a glass of water on a set of speakers and it dances) as if rain was breaking the surface of a very still pond. From the wall poured forth a black cloud, a miasma floated from the pit; surrounding and leaking towards the rabbit and the little boy.
“Child, watch closely.” The darkness whispered.
Wide eyed in anticipation, the boy only kept his focus on the rabbit’s head. Slowly he saw the torn blood vessel reabsorb the lost blood that was spilt on the dry ground and then began to pulsate. The shadow started clinging on to the fragmented skull. He could see the rabbits tongue moving while the head was still broken. It attempted to scream, the more the rabbit’s tongue rolled, the more tendrils of shadow stretched out to muffle its cries of distress. However, the child could only find it fascinating.
Curious at seeing something he had never saw before, he gently nudged the rabbit’s brain with his fingers. It felt wet and icky he pulled a puckered expression on his face as if he had ate lemons. The shadow began joining the ligaments in the eye ball. It playfully tugged the boy’s pointed finger encouraging him to touch and feel the work it was mending. The boy smiled in wonder. The shadow gently knudged the boy’s hand from the rabbit’s head and it sealed the head of the bunny like a fitting together a jigsaw puzzle.
The shadow disappeared from the the rabbit and it began to squeal . the boy covered his ears.
“Pit chan make it stop bad noise.” The shadow once again covered the rabbit’s
The little boy pulled out some of the spare berries from his pocket
to feed the rabbit pinned down by the black shadow. the rabbit kept still and very quite quivering in fear. the boy brushed the rabbit with his hands stained with fruit. a small red hand print covered the rabbit redder than the blood that fell on the floor. The little boy preferred it when the rabbit did not struggle as it was easier to play with.
“Pit chan, Pit chan let’s play in the forrest!”
“Pit chan is my best friend” He embraces the shadow hugging it with all his might.
“Promise to stay with me forever.” The shadow etches a delicate flower pattern on the inside of the child’s left hand.
“~A promise to remember~”
The next seven days the three of them played in the forrest. Wild Beasts of the great forest began leave their territory. The forest were eerily silent except for the happy laughter of a young boy and the cries of a beast caught randomly unawares.
Nearby in a village a party of heroes was gathering. Reports of demonic beast fleeing from the forest was reported to the authorities and a commission was sent to the guilds to investigate and terminate the cause.
“Perhaps the king will be kind enough to reward us that title.”
“The commission looks like it pays well.”
“Well once we’re done here we can explore Urgot's cave for treasure.”
A rogue, a paladin, a mage and a healer set forth from the village from from the village.
There underneath the moonlight, they see a child. Puzzled the rogue moves forward to grab the child.
The mage’s eye’s widen. He instinctively throws a ball of fire at the two. The fireball glances above their heads. Above them the shadow looms ominously. its shadow illuminated a demonic figure.
“Demonic demon!”
“Kill it!”
“Nooo! Pit chan”
The rogue vainly tries to slash at the shadow only to falter in her footsteps as she juggles the child over her shoulders. The paladin glows while and places a golden aura over the sword. He should rams the rogue, pushing her out of harms way while gaining momentum to swing the glowing two handed sword. The child and rogue roll out of harms way and the healer steps forward casting a barrier. The mage with eyebrows furrowed close together. Concentrates holy symbols of a holy language surrounding him spinning in a cylindrical fashion.
His eyes flash white as he waves his staff flamboyantly towards the demon.
The healer buffs the rogue and she unleashes a duel blade strike also flashing white.
Finally the paladin sweeps with his sword an unrelenting series of strikes, each one countering a black tendril.
“Pit chan!” Wailed the child, this time the healer is holding him back from running into the fray of battle.
The shadow is defeated. The Paladin sheafs his sword.
“Looks like there are more demons up ahead. ”
“Pit chan! EErrrwaah!”
“Why is the kid crying... ?”
The healer turns the child over looking for wounds and shrugs
“ Parents these days are so irresponsible, ”
“If you don't stop crying…. ”
“Let’s be done with this, the child a peasant’s child. Just get rid of it and say the beast ate him. ”

“Agreed. The sooner the quest is the done the sooner we can reap the rewards.”
The kid brawling his eyes out, one of the adventurers pulls out a sword, darkness. The knight leers over the child with a two handed sword. Thud. Silence, no more crying. The party looks the child’s cleaved body without much thought. “Let’s go hunt some more shadows.” The knight waved his arm forward and the other members in the party lifted their arms out in agreement. The party turns to leave to go into the thickest part of the forest. Before they leave the paladin kicks the child’s body the body rolls, strewn on the creek bed. The blood runs down stream into the creek it flows for a while until it reaches near the thicket with the odd clearing. A gush of shadows floods out from the wall following the scent of blood.
From the limp lifeless body of the child all the blood turns a shade of black. A dark cloud of blackness twist turns and fluctuates. It seems like it is trying to get the body to move. Nothing seems to happen, the child’s wounds are all healed and the shadow attempts to get the lungs moving. At each attempt of revival the shadow become more malevolent and darker. Finally it spirals down into the limp body and as it twists and it turns a shadow copy of the child rises from the blood.
It’s darkened form tracks the adventurers sneaking behind moving from tree to tree.
Its eyes focuses on the healer, the shadow child draws its fingers to his own neck and makes a swiping action. A thin red line appears on the neck of the mage and then the head falls off. The group who were laughing just a few minutes before are in shock.
The child runs into the group from behind slams into the rogue with a force of a raging bull. The rogue and the shadow roll into the ground. A massive wall of shadows surround the remaining adventurers. A thin band of shadow reaches at the rogue’s stomach and the her innards are pulled out before the body hits the ground the shadow child flies .
The child flies at mage and with arms unleashes a thin black whip, cleaving the person’s head in half, leaving the mouth intact. Such a strike would have normally killed a person instantly, however, the body is screaming, louder and louder it cries. The child shadow frowns at the noise. The body is on its knees with hands on the head trying to hold it together. The shadow child reaches in with his hands and clenches his hands over the brain matter, the fat and tissue of the brain oozes everywhere on the hands. The scream stops the body falls limp and then spasms every now and then.
The shadow appears in front of the last adventurer. For the past half an hour the knight has been listening to the screams of his fellow team mates. He is prepared for a fight and he grimly clenches his sword. The shadow child approaches him, he feels the sweat dripping down his brow. The shadow fills the mouth of one and then spikes its way from the inside of the body. Pinning the man down a thin black like whip start slicing the body starting from the legs, with all the blood loss it is strange that the knight is still alive.
The shadow child smiled and glanced up in the sky as if talking to someone while listening to the screams of the last man standing.
“I’ll heal you of your sins.”
Scene 2 - Coffee shop
In the centre of the room four of silvery capsules the size of a person.
A silvery capsule containing a person pops open. Three of the capsules open one by one.
“whoa man that was scarey” A dark hair youth ran his fingers through his hair and turned to face his companions.
“Yeah that monster was soo real, I felt my heart palpitating,” pipped the hazel eyed girl.
“hey Tim is still in the capsule, I reckon he’s going to take while to kill the boss. You guys want to get a coffee?”
The three youths clambered out of the capsule and moved to the centre of the room that had table surrounded with a comfortable cushiony lounge . They donged the buzzer on the edge of the table and a waitress came in to take their order.
The room did not just contain their capsules. There were other tables with pods being preoccupied, packed with virtual reality gamers who liked to socialise in real life. The place was abuzz like a beehive. Most of the Virtual reality gamers were chatting, eating, discussing over maps.
If you could hear the noise from beyond the room you could make out the manager of the vr cafe yelling at a new worker.
“Make sure you greet the customers with a smile and make sure you upsize the drinks.”
Seeing that the party had reached the bottom of their cups and were again harassed by the staff to buy some more. It was never good to drink too much while playing Vr as obviously the players all knew they would have to stop gameplay to relieve themselves. The group decided to order some more snacks and have a drink ordered ready for Tim.
“Tim is taking an awfully long time.”
The loud clashing sound of a waiter tripping with a dish of food. the waiter had spilt the food all over the capsule that Tim was in.
“Aww man, Charline tripped again” one of the uniform workers sputtered out aloud.
Everyone who frequented the club all knew that Charline was the clumsiest waitress and assumed it was just the average day occurrence. The heads turned back to their food and their conversation as they saw the manager run up to oversee the scene.
“Hey bloody junior waiters will you wipe the water off the floor workplace health and safety. Max get the first aid kit.”
The waitress stood up, feeling all warm and sticky. Wiping her hand to her face she stared at her hand for three seconds, blinking.
“ EEEEEEEHHHHHHH!”
The manager looked her over for an injury but not could be found as he wiped her with the dishcloth from the kitchen. His eyes followed the puddle of blood as he walked around the capsule, the leak came from the pod that Tim was in.
The shop manager opened the capsule and a mass of red fog billowed at the opening. Fully expecting the worst. Tim walked out with no injuries. Tim frowned at the man who had interrupted his game play. Tim looked a bit pale from constant gaming otherwise showed no other injuries
“Why -?”
He walked forward as if the grab the managers shirt.
Then the face slid forward as if sliced horizontally. His whole body tipped like a stack of cards, his body sliced like a pineapple. The body no longer stood as a person instead sprawled out as a mass of meat all over the cafe floor.
Everyone inside the room was in shock.
