1. Luckiest day of my life

1. Luckiest day of my life

Spoiler: The day is not lucky at all

My name is Togaraki Suya. I am a 2nd year student in high school. To be honest I am an average student as well as an average person.

I am neither the best student in my class nor the weakest. I am neither the popular student nor the guy who is hated by everyone in class. I am the definition of normal student.

Similarly, my life is neither interesting nor boring. I am just an average person.

Like every day, I was returning home from another uneventful day in school. But today was slightly different because it was raining.

Luckily I always had a raincoat in my bag. I was that kind of guy who would carry around a raincoat or an umbrella even in the dry season/drought.

So today I had a raincoat so I didn’t have to wait for the rain to stop in the class.

Before I left, I saw that the cutest girl in class, Chigaraki Miya, didn’t have anything to protect herself from the rain. Miya-San was well known in the entire school for her beauty.

I bitterly realized that if I had brought an umbrella today then I could have dropped her to her home. With this excuse, I could have spent some time alone with her and also get to know where her home was.

Unluckily I had brought a raincoat with me which couldn’t be shared.

So I was walking home alone, cold, in the rain. Maybe this was the unluckiest day of my life.

I was walking along the road while pondering such things while suddenly there was a blinding flash of light appeared in front of me and without any delay, there was a deafening bang.

(Tinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn) My ears were ringing.

I fell down because of the shockwave. It didn’t take me long before I realized what had happened. A lightning had struck a few meters ahead of me.

“Holy sh*t”, I shouted. If I had brought my umbrella together with me, that lightning would have surely struck me. I got back on my feet and started to walk on my way.

I had to cross the street to reach my house from this point. My vision was still blurry from the flash of lightning.

“If I had brought my umbrella with me today, surely both me and Miya-San would have been history.”

I was muttering such things to my self.

Since my vision was blurry, my ears were ringing and I was talking to myself, I did not notice the speeding truck that was headed to my way while I was crossing the street.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

Luckily though, I had a pretty fast walking pace so I just managed to cross the road safely. It was the gust of wind blown by the speeding truck that made me realize that I was almost run over.

What a lucky day, I survived almost deathly situations twice in the same day.

(But I had forgotten that the day was not over yet).

I some how managed to reach my house without dying.

Normally I would shout, “I’m home” but since I lived alone in my house so that was useless.

The reason I live alone is, my dad serves in the army and my mother a mangaka so both of them are seldom home. So I have to live alone, cook for myself, basically I have to do everything my self.

If my parents were here , maybe I would share the terrifying incidents that happened earlier with them.

Sighing, I enter my room. Since I live alone, so my room is a bit of a mess. There are some dirty clothes piled on my chair, some unwashed dishes on the table. There are garbage on the floor and the dustbin is filled to the brim.

As soon as I take a step into my room, I feel something cold, slimy and slippery under my feet.

Ah! It is the banana peel from this morning. But I realized this too late because I had already raised my other leg to take another step.

Never have I ever regretted my slow reaction speed.

“Ahhhhhhhhhhh”, I shouted as I fell down.

There was a sudden pain in the back of my head as I hit the doorknob. Slowly I was loosing all my senses and I thought this is what it feels like dying.

Every thing slowly became dark.

It was so dark that I couldn’t even see my hands, though I could neither feel nor move them. I was kind of scared but still was rather calm.

Since there was nothing I could do in that darkness, even a moment felt like an eternity.

But after a while there was a faint light that surrounded me. It gradually grew brighter and became so bright that I could not see anything again.

I opened my eyes and realized they were closed the whole time.

When I woke up, there was an old man with a long beard looking at me. When he saw me waking up, he let out a sigh of relief.

”I’m sorry but you accidentally happened to die before your time”, he said.
