Chapter 12

He was more than enjoying his new power. A thrill ran through his body every time he made a move.

While he had never been the most athletic, he did like to think he had taken care of himself. But even at his healthiest in the past, he was nothing like he was now.

Bounding up the stairs, it was only a moment before he arrived at his office once again. It didn't matter that Charles was less than stellar as a Tier 3. His existence in his realm was more than worthwhile.

He returned to his desk. He was loathe to waste his scouting on the free Tier 2 he had earned the day before.

He wanted every chance he could get to find the best Tier 2. Thus he decided to use them on Tier 1.

With only three scouting opportunities, he wouldn't have much choice. But he would still be able to choose the best of three options.

He was more than a little surprised when he opened up the Tier 1 recruitment. Instead of a measly three options. He had seventy-five scouting opportunities.

It took him a few moments to come to terms with what he was seeing. Why was he suddenly capable of scouting so many more people?

He wasn't going to doubt what he was now capable of. With 50 people to scout in the Tier 1 recruitment. It wasn't long before he had information on them all.

At this point, he had three Tier 1 recruitments saved up, which allowed him to pick up three more talents.

One was similar to Leonard, in being at the peak of Tier 1, with mid-Tier 3 potential. Unlike Leonard, he didn't have a talent of his own.

Then he picked up a single person with a talent for the path of healing. With a true healer in his village, he would have a lot less worries.

Finally, he picked up the most talented person available. A young lady who had only stepped into Tier 1. But her potential was simply too much to pass up.

[Trait: None,

Power: Tier 1 - 2 Star,

Potential; Tier 4 - 8 Star,

Talent: Path Of Magic]

After dealing with Charles he was more than happy with her not having a trait. With those three selected and with twenty-five scouting opportunities left over. With them in his village, he almost had more Tier 1's than he did Tier 0's. Thus he turned to his free recruitment once again. Where another surprise was waiting for him.

This time there were 125 opportunities for him to scout. Far more than he was expecting. More than enough to scout everyone once again.

He didn't find anyone with incredible potential. But everyone he did pick had a talent of some kind.

Most either in farming or some other job. After all, he didn't want to waste his Tier 1 recruitments on picking up talented farmers.

It left him with 25 scouting opportunities. He was more than a little excited about the random draws he could buy with the new day.

Being locally known allowed him to buy a dozen of them. With the scouting in his hand, he would easily be able to choose the most valuable manual.

That was why he was even more surprised to see that he had zero opportunities left when he opened up the menu.

He was more than a little confused about the changes to his talent. There had been quite a few changes to both his realm and his personal power since the day before. As such he couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was that caused the change.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

It seemed that it had also used up his luck for the day. He didn't pick up a manual that was higher than elite the entire time.

He would have to start looking out for skills that he could use. The skill section in his power menu being empty had annoyed him more than a little. He had sold or used the skills on his citizens for the most part up until this point. Leaving very few attractive skills for him to choose from.

He spent most of the morning building up a list of skills that would interest him. That and trying to find more information about the Body Of Alchemy.

While it wouldn't restrict any skill, it wouldn't help any either. It was a very neutral manual. While that was fine for the moment, the benefits of certain manuals on certain skills were too much to ignore.

After all Elenora's Forest Fairy manual increased the power of nature magic and skills by a large amount.

Other than the King Of Alchemy's posts, there wasn't all that much information about the manual.

As a lord, he wouldn't suffer any of the side effects of the manual. But it would still be worthwhile to know how it worked.

With his research coming to a close. He put up everything he had drawn up for sale once again. At his current rate affording a Tier 2 recruitment a day was more than reasonable.

It had been easy to leave the comfort of the townhouse before. But now the villa was of an entirely different level. He didn't feel like leaving much at all.

But the time of the protection period ending was approaching. His land was quite a bit larger than he would have thought at this point. But that only meant that there was more area to attack.

He would have to train with Leonard to get a true measure of his current ability. But he was confident enough that he would be able to survive almost anything that would come at him within his local area.

Most of the village was sticking within running distance of the walls. But Julius and a few others made their way to the limits of his land.

It was the first time he had been this far away from his abode in this new world. It seemed that he had become a little too comfortable with the safety of his land.

That would not be the same in the future. He had spent the past hour speaking with Leonard about the new defence of the town. The patrols and protection that would be needed.

The three new Tier 1's would be of great help in those regards.

With the healer keeping the few soldiers refreshed. As well as the other two being capable of protecting an area on their own. The worry for the rest of the guards was reduced greatly.

While the new healer Audrey and the talented mage Sarah remained in the village. He got to know the other recruit on his walk to the outskirts.

Paul had joined Leonard in the guards. He had a similar story to Leonard. He had also gained his power through the guard's mantra. It seemed for many of the peak Tier 1's he would choose that would be the case. As one of the most readily available manuals, there was no lack of people who had reached perfection in the art. Most of whom were unable to afford to switch to anything else.

Fortunately, Paul seemed far more inclined to switch to a different manual. It was unfortunate that he didn't have a talent for anything. But if a new manual could push him past the edge of Tier 1, then it would be more than worth the investment.

He had chosen the most scenic area in his land. There was a small hill on the limit that had the best view of anywhere in his surrounding lands.

Of course, the view was unsurprising. An endless forest stretched out beyond their feet.

At that moment the time of protection had reached its end. The slight golden barrier that he could see began to dissolve. A feeling of dread fell over him. Without the protection of whatever power brought him. He suddenly felt a lot more vulnerable.

He had thought he would spend a little more time beyond his limits. But as soon as he stepped past his territory he felt something wrong.

He couldn't explain it, but it beckoned him back to his abode. Reinforcing the idea that leaving his land would only mean death.

He hadn't been expecting that, and before he knew it found himself walking back to his abode. With a few questioning looks being thrown his way.

He tried his best to avoid the scrutiny by giving out orders to the others. But the feeling remained until the walls of his village were in sight.

He had thought that the feeling meant his town was under attack. But with his town looking much the same as before he was left confused.

It lingered until he had made his way into his villa. Only at that point abating completely.

He wasn't sure why, but his subconscious didn't want him to leave his abode for any reason.

That was not a feeling that was shared with the other lords. Most regaled the forum with tales of their adventures far beyond their lands.

It seemed that he would have to start facing his fears and emotions about being in this new world.
