Well, I should probably get out of the rain.
I walked over to the nearest cover from the downpour, the roof of a nearby restaurant, and began looking through Uriel’s phone to find out what’s happening.
Thankfully the password was the same as my old phone, I guess God decided to play nice with that one. The date was Monday, October 11th, and it was 5:29 PM, or 17:29 if you wanna be weird. The year… ah, seems like it’s just a few more months before the characters arrive at the main setting. In early January the main characters start at the Academy, so for now, they’re still in highschool.
Did God give me the basic information I need to know to live as Uriel? I wondered, but couldn’t seem to recall anything. Okay, the student ID Uriel has includes his address right? It does.
Problem. I don’t know how to get there. I can just ask around but isn’t that suspicious? I was mulling over this dilemma, when I noticed someone out of the corner of my eye.
That ridiculous outfit that no serious person would wear unless it’s a cosplay, that stupid, needlessly messy hair, and crimson eyes, that could only belong to a main character. It was him!
“Si-woo! Over here!” I shouted, running over to him. Why is his name Si-woo? Why wouldn’t it be, have you ever read a Korean web novel? And of course he’s the only one in the whole story with a Korean name, including his own parents.
Unlike me, he had an umbrella.
Looking at me he said “Look at you, you’re soaking wet! Your clothes are ruined,” sounding like an overprotective mother. “Why were you just out in the rain?”
I racked my brain, trying to think of how Uriel would respond in this situation, the problem is he wouldn’t be in this situation in the first place, he despises getting wet.
“Uh, I suddenly felt like it, I guess”
“Hmm… you’re being weird again.” he said, looking at me like I just burned down an orphanage and killed three people. Well, I didn’t do that, but I did meet God, so, still a little shaken up about that.
“I’m always weird like that.”
“Huh, okay…” He trailed off, staring at me.
Stop that, it’s embarrassing!
His gaze of confusion and disgust intensified as he watched me wriggle around in embarrassment. He turned his head away as we walked down the road, seeming mildly upset with me.
“Ah, so where are we headed?”
“Well I was over at Beryl’s, getting my sword repaired after that dungeon we went to, I guess I’m just heading home now.” Uriel and Si-woo lived in the same apartment complex, so that was convenient.
“Me too, what a coincidence.”
He looked at me weirdly again.
Going into Uriel’s apartment, it seemed like he lived alone, which was probably why he was always with Si-woo. I’m pretty sure there was a moment where the original author offhandedly mentioned that Uriel’s parents lived far away and just sent him money so he could live comfortably.
Seems lonely.
Anyways, I walked into the bedroom and lazily plopped down onto the bed, then started looking through my phone. I was easily able to find the location of the high school thanks to the navigation app on the phone, so that won’t be a problem in the future. One thing I was worried about though, was the actual content of school. I haven’t even graduated from regular high school, how am I supposed to graduate high school with a totally different history and science courses?!
Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road.
In times like these, the best thing to do is to force your friends to help you out.
That can wait until tomorrow though.
Haah, I sure do love sleeping!!
I woke up feeling refreshed, and began getting ready for school, brushing my teeth, taking a shower, etc. Changing into some fresh, not rain-soaked clothes, I felt ready to face the thing I dreaded the most.
Other than that snake god of course.
Walking down to the high school, I took a quick peek at the seating chart, and sat down in my spot. I began looking through Uriel’s bag, hoping he had some useful study materials. I have a vague idea of the history of this world from what was explained in the novel, but considering magic exists in this world, the science classes are surely going to be completely different.
I pulled out a heavy science textbook, and began looking through it, but it seemed to be mostly the same as what I know. Maybe magic is a different class? Who knows? Guess I’ll figure it out along the way.
The bell rang and class started. I guess I was worried for nothing because things ended up being pretty understandable even when they did seem different from my world. Was this part of the knowledge God gave me? I wasn’t sure, but at least things seem like they’re gonna work out.
Anyways, after breezing through the oddly easy classes, it was lunch time. I obviously sat with our beloved little protagonist and the rest of his friends.
“Oh, it’s Uri!” One of Si-woo’s friends called me like it was nothing.
“That’s a horrible nickname, never say it again.” I responded, very offended.
“Eh? What’s wrong with it?” Another extra piped up.
“Everything. I’m disappointed that I would even need to explain, but I suppose you wouldn’t have said it in the first place if you realized.”
“You’re being so mean today… Are you a robot? Did standing out in the rain yesterday fry your brain or something?” Si-woo said, stupidly.
“My brain was fried a long time ago, I just stopped pretending like it didn’t.” I responded, trying to sound cool, but failing miserably.
They all looked at me like I was speaking in Spanish or something.
“Anyways, I know you were going to Uriel, but are any of you guys going to apply for the Royal Sword Academy? The Entrance exam takes place this weekend, so you should apply soon…” Si-woo said.
“Ah, I’m way too weak to get into that school, besides, I wanna be a McDindle’s cashier when I graduate, not a hero.”
“Ah, I heard that place gets a surprising amount of benefits, isn’t it kinda shady though? I heard a lot of weird rumors about that place.”
“Rumors are just rumors, besides, the pay is great too.”
“Well, if it’s what you want, why should I stop you? Have you gotten an interview yet?”
I was starting to get bored of this filler conversation and decided to start tuning it out.
Anyways, the entrance exam, huh? I figured it wouldn’t be too hard, I should probably get used to Uriel’s ability though, I’ll try it out after school in my apartment.
The rest of the day went by quickly and I got home with no problems at all.
I was sitting on my bed, trying to figure out how to use Uriel’s Rune. It wasn’t hard to activate but all I could do was shine a giant, harmless beam of light at the wall. Maybe I could blind my opponents, or use this as a super powerful flashlight, but I was hoping for something more direct… I tried messing around a little more and figured out how to bend light to change the colors of things temporarily, like making my hair red, instead of the silvery hue it was, but that’s not that useful.
I tried concentrating really hard on the beam, but nothing happened. Maybe it needs to be condensed? Like when going through a magnifying glass? I tried imaging a giant flashlight shining through a bunch of magnifying glasses, and a much smaller, but much brighter beam of light came out of the palm of my hand and hit the wall of the apartment, leaving a very visible hole.
Oh shit.
Well, just gotta hope the landlord never looks in this room.
I felt very sleepy after spending energy doing things, so I fell asleep again.
The rest of the week went by pretty slowly, probably because I was excited for the entrance exam this weekend, but finally it was Saturday, time for things to actually start happening!
