TellTales. An otome game with over 10 million players, it consisted mainly of a decent story, but a high-quality gameplay. It didn't have an revolutionary idea, it was mainly just a good game that was developed by a super genius nerd.
The developer is a massive romance freak, is what usually players infer from the amount of painful cliches and common troupes. However though, as the story and plot is decent, it was no doubt that the characters in the game itself is well-written to some point. It gained popularity from the roster of characters that you could pick, from a super male-lead, to practically even playing as the villainess of the story, this game was undoubtedly a well-developed one.
Or that is what the players usually review about in this game. But the developer is a huge romance novel fan. How do I know? She's my friend. Though I haven't met her directly, her online name is "Yooriri." I became friends with her because we generally liked the same games, or in other words, she was also a gaming pervert like me. This sort of common interest sparked a friendship, despite being online.
Different from her who wanted to be a game developer, I aspired to be an author. Just so happens, that Yooriri asked me to write the side-stories for the characters. She wrote the main story, and that was why the main story was heavily criticized, she's a damn hopeless romantic.
Besides, I liked the idea of making characters, dressing them up, drawing them, and giving them attributes, negative and positive. Despite this, in Yooriri's free time, she often told me about a character that she wrote. "Yui." This character was heavily criticized. Why? Of course, Yooriri wrote him.
But what I found odd is that, Yooriri is a huge pervert, and she liked super handsome guys with six-packs and often sexualized them in her story. Yui wasn't like that, the character Yui, is completely an enigma. His side-story was filled with plot holes, and heavily vague description, not to mention Yui is a bad character in such a game where the gimmicks of every character mattered in combat. Yui was slow in growth. And Yui is a typically 5'2 guy with a design that's fairly modern which doesn't fit the setting at all.
The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
The character named "Yui", was heavily backlashed... However Yooriri didn't mind this, and when I asked her about it. She replied to me... "In my opinion, I just liked the idea of a character like Yui in this game." Yui was of course, not a possible love interest, nor did he have any sort of impact on the plot. Or in other words, he's a background playable character.
...
But I came to love this character, just like how Yooriri said she liked Yui. It's cringe, and I do feel weird and disgusted by myself for saying this, but I felt a bit of kinship with such a dirt-bad character like Yui. And I continued and continued levelling this character up.
Every character in the game gained their "title" in level 80. And I spent a total of 4 years, levelling Yui up until level 80. Since I was just a writer of the game, I didn't exactly know what Yooriri had in store for this character, or did she even gave this character a special "title."
This was supposed to be the last day of me levelling up Yui to level 80.
"This boss is so hard..."
I sighed while mashing multiple buttons on my keyboard, gazing at how my character, Yui dashed around with his dark sword, hitting another critical blow to the dragon king boss. Or in other words, the boss with the most exp. I've been grinding this boss ever since I was level 50. My current level is 79. Just one more hit...
As soon as I saw the character burst forward, about to land the final blow. I only widened my eyes as the game itself started glitching. A bug!? I didn't know this bug. The character, Yui froze, and the dragon boss repeated the "hurt" animation multiple times like an idiot. I slammed my fist on the table, clearly annoyed. "What the-"
I tried to do something, pressed buttons, pressed my settings, but the game completely froze. "Is it my internet?" I sighed, but before I was able to even restart the game itself, I closed my eyes, and opened them.
----------------------------------------
The first thing I felt, was the very cold chill, like an open window in your house when it is winter. Feeling the slight chill, I widened my eyes, processing the information. Snow, white snow, beneath my feet. I felt the harsh cold of the wind blowing through me as I saw a carriage right at the distance, waiting for me? When did I wear a robe? Was this a dream? The robe of mine fluttered along the wind. I felt something heavy at my hips, a sword, a silver sword that's worn out.
This scene is so familiar to me oddly enough. And as soon as it clicked on my mind, and the moment my brain recognized.
