Chapter 9 - Training

Chapter 9 - Training

Damion saw what was a dragon skeleton, it had chains around its limbs and neck. Some stones glowed as Ezra walked by the cave became bright now. Damion looked in astonishment to find such a creature in this cave. It would be a perfect place for his skeleton soldiers to train. (One can level up by just training but it takes much longer to train soley than killing monsters)

"This is perfect." Damion went closer to the dragon skeleton and touched it.

[Requirements are not met. Body cannot be reanimated. Level up more]

Dragons were powerful creatures so Damion probably could not reanimate one just yet. Damion decided that since skeletons do not consume mana besides when destroyed, his skeletons could occupy this place and train for days. Damion knew that skeletons need not eat or drink, so they could train for as long as he wants them to.

"You guys will stay here and guard this place while training. I will head back and rest. Ezra you will be in charge, try to scare any trespassers and inform me if there is anyone powerful attacking." Damion ordered his most talented skeleton Leon to train the other skeletons in combat and basic archery.

Damion procceded to go back to the adventurer's guild while his skeletons train in the cave, he also made sure that Ezra put up a strong mist to make sure no one would find the cave. Damion went to the guild and submitted the cover of Ezra's grimoire as evidence that he had cleared the quest.

"You were able to kill the Lich yourself?" The receptionist was observing the cover of Ezra's grimoire, surprised that there were only a few scratches on Damion's armour.

"Yes, I need the reward now." Damion took 300 gold from the receptionist and headed to his room.

Damion laid on his bed and thought that he should go to a smith to see if he could purchase a smithing furnace and an anvil with some forging tools. He wanted his skeletons to mine and make armour and weapons so that he would not look suspicious buying several sets of armour. Damion also thought if there was anymore undead quests so he could find stronger skeletons to reanimate. Damion felt fatigued from the events today, he fell asleep as soon as he stopped thinking about today.

The next morning...

"Ezra is all well at the cave?" Damion checked with his warriors first thing in the morning to see if anyone had found the cave.

"Yes Master Damion, the skeletons have been training the whole time. The smiths are requesting that they get their equipment, they went down to the caves and found abundant amounts of untouched iron. They wish for some picks to mine them also." Ezra had voiced out the request of the skeleton smiths to his lord. Damion told Ezra that the smiths would get their tools very soon.

"Okay time to go now." Damion finished his training routine apart from his running and bathed. He then headed out to the smiths in the kingdom to find a good deal.

[Appraisel activated]

"Hmm, how much is anvil?" Damion looked at the old dwarven smith.

"Your asking for the anvil?" Normally when you go to a smith its for armour or weapons so the smith would be surprised if a customer asked for his anvil.

"Could I ask for your furnace and forging tools." Damion looked innocently at the smith as if it was a normal thing to ask.

"Are you asking me to go out of business?" The old smith bellowed that did not match his stature. Damion stepped back a bit when the smith stepped towards him.

"Listen here young man, no smith would let you buy his anvil and furnace, let alone his tools. Why do you want to buy it in the first place." The old smith explained to Damion that he could not just buy a smith's equipment.

"Its for a friend he's a smith but he doesn't know where to buy equipment. He's knew to the business." Damion whipered to the old smith who gave him a suspicious look.

"Is that so, then I can help you order one. I have a friend that can get you the entire set for only 600 gold. Why didn't you say it was for a fellow smith, the first time." The old smith smiled and patted Damion's back.

"I'll ask him to bring the equipment to my shop and can you take it from there?" The old Dwarf smith looked at Damion who was inspecting some of the swords in the shop.

"Ah yes I have a magic bag so I can store them all inside with ease."

"Oho, a magic bag you seem like the wealthy adventurer. Mister..? The smith told Damion that the equipment might take a few days to arrive so he should come back after 4 days or so

"Im Dacian and I just do difficult quests that earn me good money" Damion left the smith shop and then returned to the adventurer's guild to see if there were any more undead quests.

"Excuse me, do you have a book about undead especially about skeletons?" Damion wanted to learn more about how to wield his necromancer powers better, the receptionist gave a book about skeletons as Damion requested who went back to his room to study.

[Status Scroll open]

Damion closed his status scroll and began to read the book of undead. Skeletons can level up just like all monsters do, but they have a special ability to consume and absorb bones of their enemies, it helps skeletons level up even higher. Damion read further into the book. There is a Lich King that was sealed by one of the heroes in an ice cave in the far south 200 years ago, legends say that the Lich King strikes on the ice walls in attempt to escape his prison. Lichs main goal is to raise an army and destory anything that comes in its way, they also are in the influence of the Lich King. The Lich King is rumored to be an avatar of death himself, many believe that he created all the lichs in the world. Lichs are made from the hate, resentment and anger of oneself, If a mage is filled with those emotions he becomes a lich or an evil spirit. The same thing can be said about necromancers who can also turn to lichs by the influence from the Lich king who will tempt many to kill themselves should their willpower be weak. The Lich King is also rumored to have millions of skeleton soldiers and might have taken over the world without the heroes intervention. Damion had read the book the whole day and it was evening when he finished the entire book.

"The Lich king is so overpowered, if he was released from his seal. He could cause mass havoc worldwide." Damion layed on his bed to digest all the knowledge he just read. Damion thought that he should check on his skeletons tomorrow and go on quests and gather monster bodies for his skeletons to absorb.

"Hey Alvollas, you think I might turn into a lich one day?" Damion summoned out Alvollas who stretched his wings and flapped around.

"Well, the book said that if one's willpower is weak right? You have a strong will and you have me a mind demon so I don't think the Lich King would be able to influence you unless you have personal confrontation." Alvollas reassured his master that the fear of becoming a lich would not happen. Damion's mind felt strained from reading the whole book at once. His eyes felt heavy and closed, Damion went to sleep from mental exhaustion.

Further north from Damion's cave, a castle in the tundras. Blood coloured eyes come from inisde, an evil aura exudes from the castle. What or who could it be in the castle?
