I Am The Dragon Emperor
Prologue: Prophet Sees

Prologue: Prophet Sees

As Agent Redson approached the meeting room, he felt a chill move down his spine as he thought the call he had received just twenty minutes prior. 'A dragon...' He thought with a sigh, then opened the door. As the door pushed open, smoke slowly exited hitting Redson with a strange mix of smells; a number of incense and recreational items had been lit in the room. He entered and focused his vision on the woman sitting at the head of the table, smoking from a pipe in a rather relaxed fashion. "Do you really have time to be leisurely smoking?" Redson asked as he sat down across from her.

The woman, who is dressed in a red robe with a golden trim, simply placed her lips on her pipe and puffed a few times before releasing a circle of smoke toward him. "Even in times of great emergency, we should take time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life." She said. She thought on her words for a moment. "Perhaps even more so in dire straits." She mumbled.

"That aside, I'm sure you understand why you're here, yes?" Redson asked. She smirked.

"I wonder about that...?" She said with faux innocence as she placed the button of her pipe against her lower lip. "I suppose I'll need something to jog my memory." She said with a sly smile as she glanced at Redson. He sighed and held up three fingers. "Ah! Yes! There was a dragon! I recall now." She said happily as she quickly sat up at attention, pressing her chest against the table as she did.

"Motivated by money, as always..." Redson said as he rubbed his temples.

"What's the point in being a rare resource if I don't profit?" She asked with a bored tone, then chuckled. "Heh. See what I did there?" She asked as she mused on her words, amazed by the accidental pun she made.

"Right, well, we are on a time crunch, so do it quickly." Redson said. She groaned in annoyance.

"Always so serious~." She said with a playful tone as she stood up. "Let's see..." She mumbled as she looked through a shelf. "This one...?" She continued as she pulled something off the shelf, then shook her head and put it back. "Maybe... Yeah, that." She said as she took a small box off the shelf, then sat back down. "Now then, we need to figure out what can take down this dragon, yes?" She asked as she opened the box and took out a small glass orb. Redson nodded.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

"Since it doesn't seem all that affected by our weaponry or contractors, yes." He stated. She nodded, then peered into the orb. She seemed to zone out as her eyes seemed to go vacant. A few moments later, her whole body twitched as she came back to her senses.

"You need someone with the dragonslayer talent." She stated as she blinked repeatedly.

"Right, and where can we find that?" He asked. She narrowed her eyes as she stared at him. He coughed as he held up two fingers.

"Yes, I'll see what I can do." She said, then peered into the orb once again. Once again, her eyes go vacant as she seemingly zones out. This time, after several minutes, she flinched as she came back to her senses. Her breathing was unsteady as she attempted to take a big breath and fell into a coughing fit as she struggled to breathe for a moment.

"Maybe if you opened a window, you wouldn't have this issue." Redson said as he watched what happened. She glared at him as her coughing calmed and she took a few deep breaths.

"Peering into divination is much akin to diving into the ocean. Go for too long, and you drown." She stated angrily as she leaned back in her chair.

"That said, what are the results?" He asked.

"There's one in the nation. Male, pale, red hair. No name. I don't know." She said as she struggled to stay awake. "Now go, I've already used too much energy." She stated as she kicked up her feet.

"Right, thank you for your assistance as always, Ms. Ellaura." He said as he stood up, then left. She simply made a small noise in response as she took her hat and covered her eyes.

"So?" Agent Fox asked as Redson exited.

"I'll explain in the meeting." He replied.
