The sound of keys being pressed was all that could be heard at the office at the moment. Well at least that was how it was supposed to go until my boss arrived, Miss Sue, don’t let her name give you the impression that she is a good person, because she isn’t. Everything that she could pass to someone else she would do it without bating an eye. I think she had something against me because every time she had some work to pass she would always pass it to me. That bitch. I just hate her for that, sometimes I fantasize how great would be to kidnap her and torture her until she can’t take anymore and passes out only to find out that when she wakes up again I would be there to torture her again. Oh! How nice that would be. But anyway, enough of my monologue. At that moment just as always, Sue arrived to my cubicle and said, “Jake, I have another job for you.”
I resignedly await for her to finish talking about the new job she was going to pass unto me that should be her responsibility before asking, “What is the job about?”
“We were called by one of our clients asking for support because their main server stopped working and asked us to send help to fix”
I knew it, it was another tedious job that probably her supervisor gave to her and that she is now giving to me. I tried talking my way out of it, “But miss Sue, I am already giving support to another client with one of our apps.” But it was deflected with a simple sentence
“Well then, finish quickly so that you can move on.” Afterwards she just gave me the folder containing the client information and left.
Ahhhh! Such a drag. More work to do, I might need to skip supper again to finish this.
After I finished the previous assignment around noon, I ate lunch quickly before going to the location of the client that resulted being a cult for which we offered our service, but the thing is that they have quite a bad reputation at our office. It is said that every time one of our company guys arrive to help them, they always talk to him while he is working, which it in itself isn’t such a bad thing, but the terrible thing is that they always talk about their doctrine and try to convert them to the cult.
After almost a hour of hopping between busses and trains I finally reached my destination, a church like building in the outskirts of the city. It had all the pointy tips that one would expect in old designs of churches but it could be clearly seen that the building was relatively new and that everything still had that look that said new.
As I was seeing around a woman that had beautiful, big breast and that appeared to be a sister approached me and said to me, “What can I help you? Are you here for info about our church or for another reason?”
I had to reign my fantasies of me playing around with her breasts before I could answer her normally “Hello my name is Jake, and I am here because my company was called by this church telling us that they were having troubles with one of their server and that they needed support.”
“Oh! So you were the person they sent.” Answered her with a face that showed she finally understood why was I here. “Follow me then, I will take you to the place where we keep our technology stuff, the father should already be there trying to see if he could fix it before you came.”
Afterward the sister started taking me deep into the church in the direction of the it room.
When the sister and I arrived to the I.T. room I saw a man that appeared to be in his mid thirties with an appearance that couldn’t be said to be handsome, but also couldn’t be said to be ugly fiddling with a computer that was connected to the server, apparently trying to find the error.
“Father Michael, the support guy is already here.” Said the sister when she saw that the father didn’t even noticed that we had arrived.
It seems that the father was taken out of a trance because when he heard the sister, he tensed up and almost jumped up from the scare. It almost could be heard the father asking himself,
Where I am, Who I am, Why Am I here?
When the father returned to his senses after some seconds, he turned around toward me and said, “Hello there, nice to meet you, my name is Michael, may I ask what is your name?”
“Hello, Nice to meet you too, my name is Jake and I come from the tech company to give support to your church server.” I answer after I heard his question.
“I see, as you may have seen when you entered I have been trying to fix the error by myself all day long but have failed miserably. I only hope that I haven’t messed up more the server than how it was when it started.”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Michael, as long as the server isn’t on fire I can still fix it.” As I answered him, I moved toward the server and connected the laptop that I had bought with me to the server.
“That’s good then,” said Mr. Michael “I tried fixing it as you may have seen but the logs were so foreign to the software knowledge I had that I barely understood a thing”
When I started looking at the server system and the logs I as left amazed because of the good work the father made.
"Father Michael, I that when you said you were just fiddling with the server was a humble way to put it."

"Oh? Really? I was just fiddling with the server and found it was infected somehow with a virus, and tried my best to eradicate it."
"Yes, that virus you managed to eradicate is one of the most difficult virus to delete. Even though it wasn't deleted in the best way possible you did a great job getting rid of it. Thanks to the work you did you saved me a hour worth work."
"I see. Even though you say I deleted the virus I couldn't figure out what to do after that and remained trying to figure it out until you came here. I am just worried I left the system in a worst state than what it was before"
“Don’t worry about that, you made a superb job. If you want I can even teach what to do after what you did so that the next time you could do it yourself instead of waiting for one of our support guys.”
“I would love to learn if you are willing to teach me.”
But when the sister heard the father said that she showed a concern expression and said, “Father, are you sure about that?”
“Don’t worry about that. Everything will be alright.” Answered back father Michael
“If you say so.” Said the sister with an unconvinced expressions.
Afterwards we spent a couple of hours fixing the server and the father Michael being at my side observing what I did, making questions, and taking notes.
When we finally had the server up and running I let a relief sigh escape from me, as I thought that I would finally be able to go to my house. As I was saying my goodbye to the father Michael and the sister he stopped me and said to me, “Before you leave, allow me to repay the favor you did for me in teaching me those solutions you had.”
“Don’t worry, father Michael, I am already being paid for my services here, and after all I was going to do all the things I did to the server so it didn’t burden me to explain to you why did I do what I did with the server.” I answer to the father Michael to try to stop him from giving me more payment as if I were caught with that money I could count myself as good as fired.
“Oh, no, no. You are being paid for fixing the server, but I want to repay you for teaching me all the things you did, because I have always believed that kindness has to be repaid.”
Before I could even open my mouth to try to convince he of otherwise he took something that resembled a card but was painted with a base color of pure black and strange drawings that I had never seen that were painted in quite a deep purple and it had something written in it with a weird language that I hadn’t seen either.
When the sister saw what he gave to me she showed an extremely anxious face and said to the father Michael, “Father! Are you sure about giving that to him?”
As if knowing what she was thinking he just faintly smiled and said, “Don’t worry, everything is fine.” When she tried to say something he just stopped her with a hand gesture, when she saw the signal, still maintaining her anxious expression, she decided to keep her silent.
After finishing talking with her he turned toward me and said, “Where was I? Oh! I was going to explain to you what to do with the card.” After saying that he turned into a serious face and said, “This card is a holy artifact of our sect that will allow you to fulfill any one of your wishes, all you have to do is write your wish in this space and it shall be fulfilled.”
At first I thought that it was an invitation card to their cult or something by that style but it seem that it was something even worse. I took the card to prevent him from trying to take something else out and giving me something else. Afterwards I said my farewell to him and left the church this time without an interruption this time.
When I arrived back to my house it was already very late. I entered to see the familiar walls that I see everyday with the familiar floor with all the dirt that is there and that is extremely annoying to me but that because of all the work I have I never have time to clean. When I reached my kitchen trying to see if there was something to eat I find myself seeing the disaster that I left in the morning trying to make something for myself to eat and the dishwasher filled to the brim with dishes from the last several days. Just by seeing that I ended even more depressed than what I already was because of the dirty floor and the long day I had to work, and decided to go to bed without eating.
As I started to get ready to go to sleep and started putting everything that I had on myself away, I encountered again the card. I had the intention of throwing away that card but just before I threw it, I decided to play with the card by writing in it the most impossible thing I could think of. I spent some minutes trying to think what to write until a smirk appeared on my face when I finally thought of what to write. As I started to write I thought, “Let’s see if you can really accomplish this.” When I finished writing the card I just placed it on the table, but little did I know that when I had just fell asleep, the strange symbols in the card started lighting up and the word that I had written that were, “An completely obedient maid” also started lighting up. If only I had knew at that time, that writing that would completely change me, maybe the things would have gone differently.
