In the desert, big explosions rocked the plain, kicking up sand. Up in the sky, a dragon-like creature spat fireballs from its mouth while someone dashed around dodging them.
However, after another explosion, there was a blue glow before the black streak disappeared.
Suddenly a bunch of blue pixels came together to create a humanoid shape that appeared above the monster before it quickly started to fall. The Blue pixels disappeared revealing a youth wielding a dagger before he swung it as he started to fall while the violet dagger in his hands gleaned with a bright light.
A giant violet gash suddenly appeared on the back of the creature before it started to fall.
The giant monster crashed on the ground before it turned into a geyser of crimson pixels. The single youth fell down as he moved his bangs up, clearing his vision. Sweat ran down his face as he gripped his violet dagger tightly.

Suddenly a black window appeared in front of him as it rolled the credits.
However, he didn’t care about that instead he flicked his wrist downward causing a bunch of tabs to open up. Pressing on the tab with the clock icon a timer appeared with a frozen stopwatch. After noticing the time the youth clicked his tongue.
“How the hell was I off by a whole 8 seconds?” Mumbling that the youth retraced his steps as he tried to figure out where he went wrong.
“Damn, those jackals were a real pain even with this overpowered dagger,” Flipping the dagger in his hand in the air he then inspected its stats after catching it.

This was an artifact you could steal from a mid-story boss that allowed you to easily clear the first 20 bosses. Well, steal was a simple word.
You first had to steal the ore from the 3rd boss’s treasury then give it to a blacksmith while you dealt with the 4th and 5th monsters obtaining a stone. Once you collect the dagger you’ll be able to combine it with the stone creating this weapon.
But you could only create a dagger. The stone couldn’t combine with any other type of the weapon.
“Ah, whatever, I’ll beat it someday,” Scratching the back of his head the youth pressed the log-out button.

In a modern house, a young man was lying on the lower bunk bed as a VR visor was placed on his head. Suddenly his hand twitched as he reached for the visor and took it off his head. Sitting up on his bed the youth stretched as he grabbed a water bottle and started to gulp down the water.
“Well that was a failure,” he muttered
Swiping back his long black hair he let out a breath. His sapphire blue eyes squinted at the headset in his hands.
The game he had just played was called Chronos Gate.
It was released a year ago and blew up in popularity for speedrunning. The game was supposed to be an action-adventure game where people could explore the area and observe cool creatures.
But one guy decided to speedrun killing all of the boss monsters thus allowing others to do the same. Right now it is ranked second on the speed run rankings. It was behind a game called “Cyber” however, that game was a speed runner’s wet dream. It was specifically designed for speed runs and had only been released about 6 months ago.
But it didn’t really matter to the youth. All he wanted to do was to get that new record.
My name was Noah Kim and I would be considered a casual gamer. I wasn’t exactly a professional but according to some people in the gaming community, I was pretty popular.
Now I could’ve started a YouTube channel or something but it was too much of a pain for me to manage with my studies and all that.
Looking at the clock that was on my desk I looked at the time that was glowing in red.
[4:32 am]
I then looked to my side where my guitar was standing.
Grabbing it I then started pulling one of the strings allowing a sound to come out. However, in my eyes, a small orange music note appeared in the air before it vanished.
Grabbing the chip I started to play the guitar causing a lot of notes of varies colours and shapes to move into the air.
After a bit, I stopped and stretched. Putting the guitar back I started to loosen my muscles.
Nobody was home which was mainly due to my brother being in the military and my parents on their once-a-year couples trip.
I never minded it as it helped their relationship grow. Besides they go for a month meaning they come back in 1 week. My sister on the other hand is probably at one of her friends practicing her fashion stuff.
Making my way downstairs using the flashlight of my phone I grabbed the remote and sat on the couch. Turning on the TV I quickly scrolled to the channels before settling on one.
The Game of the Year.
It was a title that was handed to the year's best games. It is obviously a very prestigious title…for the gamer community at least.
However, this took a rise when SVR or Simulated Virtual Reality was invented. The technology got to the point where a new genre of video games were invented.
VR or Virtual Reality.
A game that transported your consciousness to a virtual plain.
Thanks to the company behind it Crown Entertainment the genre became extremely popular extremely fast.
Of course, there were some protests about it as people thought it could allow the government to implant thoughts in your mind but that was pretty much disproven as the technology wasn’t able to implant thoughts.
“Now then let’s see how this will go,”
