Hunt In Reverse
61. Leviasaur

61. Leviasaur

Maple Rex exhaled heavily, his disgust evident.

The long run had caused the dark red scabs on his body to crack, revealing the monstrous flesh beneath. His adolescent features contorted slightly, a flicker of perverse pleasure crossing his face. The tearing pain excited him, sending shivers of delight through his body.

He opened his mouth and let out a piercing cry: "Ang!" The eerie sound silenced the entire forest for a moment, freezing birds and beasts in terror, before they erupted into a frenzied scatter.

His gaze swept over the mountain, eager to return to the village. His agile form moved through the trees. With a casual swipe of his claw, he aimed to take the black-uniformed agent's head as effortlessly as snapping a twig.

In contrast to the beastvamp's conflicting sensations, I held my blade firm, my eyes calm and focused solely on the monstrous claw reaching for me. The scaly hand, radiating a violent aura, lunged towards me with brutal force.

Maple Rex was unarmed, but his body alone was a weapon mightier than any forged blade.

… …

Whether it was the yellow jackal, the black ape, or the serpvampire, they were all animals I recognized, albeit mutated into vampires.

However, the beast before me, with its strange, primal cry and the bizarre horn protruding from its forehead, was likely a creature from prehistoric times or even mythology.

My grip on the saber tightened. My dark blue eyes should have held apprehension, but for some reason, despite my racing heart, I felt a strange thrill.

My aura surged into the blade, causing it to meld with the night.

Nightshade Assassin!

The straight longsword descended silently, pausing momentarily as it met the scales on the claw, then sliced through with ease.

Maple Rex felt no pain, only a fleeting confusion at the absence of the familiar pleasure of tearing flesh.

He glanced sideways.

In his field of vision, half a palm lay severed, no blood gushing forth, only the pitch-black blade, now inexplicably stained with a few crimson streaks.

I held the sword with both hands, my momentum unwavering.

Before Maple Rex's look of disbelief could fully register, I drove the black blade deep into his body!

Thwack!

The blade, a mere inanimate object, seemed to exude a sense of insatiable greed. Countless threads of blood were drawn out, dyeing the blade a deep crimson.

"Hmph..." Maple Rex abruptly seized my wrist. Under his sharp claw, the Body of Golden Sun seemed to falter. My skin glowed brightly, then cracked under the pressure of his fingertips.

Rex exerted immense force, attempting to wrench the strange blade free.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Agony washed over me, yet I pushed the blade another three inches deeper.

Even with the Body of Golden Sun's protection, the strength of a First Realmer was no match for the raw power of a Leviasaur.

But as the crimson aura on the blade flowed into my hand, I felt an endless surge of power, and even the wound on my wrist began to heal at a visible rate.

"Are you... eating me?" Maple Rex grinned, his voice a raspy growl. The madness in his eyes intensified, surpassing even the moment his claw was severed.

"You dare to eat me?" He sneered, as if the very notion was preposterous.

Then, a wave of fury contorted his face!

The countless wounds on his body erupted, spewing blood. He released me, reaching for his own flesh and tearing it violently!

Rip!

In an instant, a monstrous creature twenty meters long launched itself into the air. Its body coiled in the sky, its head a grotesque nightmare, the single horn on its brow glowing with a bloody light.

The black blade embedded in its body seemed insignificant now.

The Leviasaur roared, its vertical pupils burning with a ferocious intensity as it fixed its gaze on me. It didn't even bother to dislodge the black blade, which had returned to its original dark luster.

"Roar!"

Another deafening roar, and a gust of wind snapped dwarf trees, sending fallen leaves swirling towards me. Its massive body coiled and then uncoiled, crashing downward!

Faced with such a disparity in size, a human without a weapon posed no threat. My posture, standing with hands lowered, seemed to confirm the Leviasaur's assumptions.

Until it looked up.

In an instant, the Leviasaur sensed danger. Its scales bristled as it instinctively turned its head.

Behind it, a curtain of swords materialized, formed from countless strands of celestial essence. Bathed in the moonlight, the swords emitted a faint, sinister red glow, their malevolence rivaling that of the Leviasaur itself.

What kind of wicked human is this?

My face paled as I exhaled a ragged breath.

The boundless energy crashed down!

The Leviasaur's massive body had nowhere to escape. It could only curl up, its tough black scales shielding its vulnerable underbelly.

THWUMP! THWUMP!

The invisible energy slammed into the Leviasaur, as if striking a mountain. A dull, resounding echo filled the valley as the beast was smashed into the forest.

When the energy dissipated, the eerie red glow clung to the Leviasaur like flames, refusing to be extinguished despite its frantic writhing.

A sizzling sound of corrosion filled the air as the black scales melted away, exposing the raw flesh beneath.

"Ang!!"

The Leviasaur's agonized howls filled the air, wreaking havoc on its surroundings.

Finally, the red glow burned out. The Leviasaur raised its head, trembling. Its body was a mangled wreck, and the pleasure of pain was long gone. In its vertical pupils, there were only the relief of having narrowly escaped death.

The Leviasaur glared at the young man, and upon seeing his pale face, a sneer curled its lips. "Good! Good! Now it's my turn."

But before it could finish its taunt, the creature noticed the young agent had closed his eyes. In this posture, it seemed obvious he had exhausted his strength and could only surrender.

Yet, a tremor of unease stirred within the Leviasaur's heart.

In the next moment, another curtain of energy swords, identical to the first, materialized in the sky.

Then a second, a third...

Until the sky was completely obscured, countless sinister red glows shimmering with a hint of mockery.

The Leviasaur's neck craned upward, its body frozen in place.

It opened its bloody maw, revealing rows of sharp fangs. Its roar was shrill, laced with desperation. "Fake! It's all fake! You can't fool me!"

I coldly pressed my palm downward.

A deluge of celestial essence, like crashing waves, engulfed the young Leviasaur.

Forty years of absorbed lifespan, gone.

Even I felt a twinge of reluctance.

Then, a prompt flashed across my vision.

[Wave Realm early-stage demon-infused Leviasaur vampire, total lifespan of 1427 years, remaining lifespan of 1250 years, absorption complete】

[Remaining Absorbed Lifespan: 1435 years]

… …

I moved purposefully toward the scene of devastation. The remnants of the Leviasaur, still bathed in an eerie red glow, dissolved rapidly with each passing breath.

I crouched down, retrieving the gleaming vampire core and placing it alongside the foxvamp's core. Now was not the time to dwell on my spoils.

With renewed urgency, I turned and sprinted through the forest, effortlessly scooping up the two unconscious souls as I raced towards the fishing village.
