41 Tamala

Dear Tamala,

I have set this tablet's alarm for several minutes after all hell is scheduled to break loose. If I got the timing right, you'll read this too late to warn anyone about our intent, but early enough to save some lives.

If the special radio program has gone off the air then things most likely went according to plan. The king and his ministers are dead, a lot of greenies are dead, and Sandy and I got away. On the other hand, if the radio program keeps going and they kill us on the air, destroy this message and pretend you don't know anything. That will be your best defense.

I am not a fool. I know what this will do, the mayhem it will cause. The kingdom will break apart, there will be fighting over the pieces, and some of the progress we've made will be lost. It could make things worse for a while instead of making them better.

But, I've made a plan for you. All the go-bags in our suite are yours do with as you like, as are the fifty in the mothers' house. Each bag contains a static generator, and Sandy's and my bags also have sleep rays. With the static generators turned on, unlock the zombie sluice gate and walk slow, and the zombies will let you pass. Be brave, stay calm, and stay the course. Go straight east until someone signals you: they will take you to transportation. There's seats for about a hundred fifty people, if you care to bring that many. Do not bring any weapons, or my people will leave you behind.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

This arrangement only lasts until dawn tomorrow. Choose carefully who you bring with you. Or, come alone. It's entirely up to you.

There are places in the world, better places, where a woman like you would be valued for what she can do with her mind instead of her body. Where there are no lotteries and no knots. There are places where you could lead without a beard. Any settlement would be lucky to have you.

The transportation I've arranged can take you as far west as the Pacific Coast. They're part of a network of like-minded settlements. Ask around, and eventually you'll find us with the Sojourners. We'd love to see you again, in a place without chains.

Your Friends,

E and Sandy
