The day was coming to a slow beginning with the birds awaking in song quite late. It did not however stop the small child that ran through the large forest from having a smile on his face. He was so overjoyed with himself at getting praise from his parents, he had learned a new spell that allows him to move rather quickly. Putting it to the tests he moved speedily through the forest. Recently he had been causing trouble for his parents after seemingly to never get full. That did not keep him from practicing hard at learning magic though and this breakthrough gave him a sense of joy. The bursts of hunger still came but he had gotten better at controlling it.
Finally making it to a small pond with water like crystal the small boy sat near the edge wiping a beed of sweat from his brow. He had reached farther than he had ever reached before and a lot faster aswell. Leaning over the boy took a few gulp of water from the pond. He had tested it before so he knew it was safe so the small gulpes turned greedy before long.
After having his fill of water he gripped his stomach feeling satisfied before one of the hunger spells came over him. he was calm in the face but his body just wanted to consume everything around him. He spotted a baby squirrel close to him and slowly approached it. He liked the look of squirrels, but this one had a tasty look to it. The curious squirrel did not run away but actually came towards the small boy like it was under a spell.
Reaching out his hand the boy placed it on the back of the small animal petting along its spine. The urge to kill the animal rushed through the boys body as his hand froze to a stop. He did not want to hurt the animal but his body was telling him to, he began to cry softly. The urge did not subside but became stronger and with a crack the small squirrel also became stiff. A few squeaks came from its mouth before nothing at all.
The tears did not stop, the boy took the animal to his hands and then to his mouth. With loud squishing noises the boy toook greedy bites at the animals body, tearing flesh from bone with his teeth. The hunger he felt came to a soothing stop after consuming some parts of the squirrel.

The boy sat crying hugging the deformed squirrel, he truly did not want to hurt the animal and he had thought the hunger was starting to become under his control but he was wrong. Today was so good he thought but now he felt ashamed. All that came from his mouth like a broken record was, " I'm sorry, I'm sorry,"
From behind him came a soothing voice that from just the sound of it stopped his crying. "Young one, why do you cry?" He slowly turned around still holding the deformed squirrel. He could not see clearly because the tears from before clogged his vision. He did not know the person nor could he clearly see them but his heart still ached, " I killed this squirrel because my body was telling me to. I did not want to hurt it." He sat the lifeless body onto the ground so that he could wipe his eyes.
"The pain came to a stop after you consumed it, right?" He looked up to the woman and was stunned to see how beautiful she was. He had only thought his mother would be the only beautiful person he would ever meet. He looked back down after the shock subsided and to the animal he killed. "It did, the pain stopped but the pain in my chest remains." He gripped his shirt near his chest.
The woman moved towards him and crouched down in front of him. "I can show you how to stop the suffering." She gave him a sweet smile. The boys face lightened up at her smile he truly believed she could help him. "please help me." She nodded at his plea and leaned over next to his face. "Your first lesson will be from now on you need to accept the hunger. That is the first step to ending the pain in your heart." She licked some of the blood around his face before kissing his cheek. Suprised by her words and actions the boy fell back with shock on his expression.
"why, why must i accept it. I dont want to hurt anyone. It hurts me to hurt others so why?" The boy became frantic wanting to know why but the woman stood up and brought one of her index fingers to her lips. The boy instantly shut his mouth. "The world has a very weird way of torturing those it finds interesting. One day that pain will become numb." With those words she vanished leaving nothing where she once stood.
The boy took a while before he could move, his heart was still beating. He did not know if he could trust the woman but he did know she was unlike anyone he had ever met. He unwillingly washed his face and hands of blood feeling disgusted at the sight. Leaving the corpse where it lay he headed back home, tired from what just happened.
