As the liquid hit Dave, he jumped back as fast as he could because the other spider jumped at him. For the first time, he managed to dodge an attack without suffering any sort of damage. However, his tiny victory ended quickly; as he jumped back, his skin started smoking and melting.

"They are using some sort of acid fuck... this is why my wounds didn't start healing, unlike my previous wounds. But they also have some sort of painkillers because I am starting to feel numb."

Dave kneeled down and was shaking on the ground. The two spiders reunited and approached Dave. He quickly looked up and jumped back onto his feet. His eyes glowed up once again, and his reddish aura got slightly darker and thicker. His skin was melted from his

chest and stomach; however, it was only surface damage. Dave looked back at the spiders, who were now distinguishable. The one who spat at Dave had its teeth slightly crushed.

"G-great... "

Dave nervously smiled, and the two spiders jumped at him at the exact same time. Dave quickly looked at the injured and dashed to the side, evading the other. However, the injured one received a powerful blow to its head, sending it all the way back to the other wall of the cave. Dave's punch caused a firey explosion, and the spider was ignited the moment it was hit; however, after hitting the wall, the fire was extinguished. The spider shook its body and screeched. Dave, on the other hand, started running towards it.

"DIE!"

The moment they met, Dave kicked the spider before it could have reacted, sending it back to the wall. Dave quickly got back to the wall and punched the spider as hard as he could. The spider started screeching once again; however, Dave didn't care and started punching it rapidly, creating a small explosion after each and every blow. The wall behind the spider cracked slightly; however, Dave didn't stop as the monster was still screeching. Suddenly the other spider screeched as well and then jumped onto Dave and bit his shoulder. The spider didn't bite off a piece from Dave's shoulder, only bit it; however, green liquid started flowing from its mouth.

"What the?!"

Shouted Dave and instantly punched the spider on his shoulder as hard as he could. The spider fell off and screeched. Dave stopped moving, and the beaten spider used this time to quickly get away; although it was seriously damaged, it got away quickly. As the healthy spider noticed that the other spider was free, it rushed away. Dave looked after them as they rushed back into the passage, and then he fell to his knees. His eyes were twitching, and his whole body just stayed there.

"What did that spider do to me?! I can barely move!"

Dave slowly looked at his shoulder and noticed taht although he managed to get the spider off of his back, the monster left its fangs on his shoulder.

"Fuck!"

Dave grabbed the fangs and pulled them out from his shoulder, and tossed them away as far as he could. Then he looked around once again and noticed that the bag from the previous party was still there, so he slowly crawled over to it and started going through it to see what it contained.

"Poor man was probably the one being eaten by the spiders... At least it seems I managed to scare them away... fuck, my body is so numb!"

As Dave was looting the backpack, he found a few sets of plain leather clothes and a sword, along with some bread and some meat he couldn't recognise; however, he didn't find any sort of water in there. He quickly changed clothes and kept the sword next to him. The clothes were a bit too big for him.

"I guess these will suffice... I will have to get used to it, but this is all I have."

Stated Dave and then decided to eat as he was getting hungry, especially now that he was injured once again.

"I guess you are really just a lifeless human being, Dave."

Declared a voice; however, as Dave looked around, he couldn't find anybody.

"Who are you, and where are you?! Wait... Doni?!"

"At least you remembered my name. Tell me, you imbecile: Why did you send those two away? You do realise that even if they lost their powers, they are still much stronger than you, and they would have been able to save you from being embarrassed by those spiders!"

"Hey! What matters is that I am still alive! Also, the reason I sent them away is that, just as you said, I am a "Lifeless human being", and this is all new to me! What do you think? How would they react if they notice the drastic change in personality and fighting ability?"

"Well... yeah... You are right about that! But at least next time, be prepared before you jump into action! I don't want to die so soon."

"Yeah, I might have been a bit reckless, sorry! By the way, how the hell do I start using magic? Back in that illusion, you taught me how to use it, but now I was unable to. I barely managed to create tiny sparks at the beginning. Now somehow, I managed to create something bigger against these spiders but still."

Said Dave as he put the bread away and back into the backpack, and Doni continued.

"Yeah, I guess it is hard to understand as an outsider. Let's see how to explain it to you... First, you need to familiarise yourself with mana; try to feel it in the air. Sit down and concentrate on feeling it. Maybe by the time you are finished, you will be healed up."

"You mean I should try to meditate or something?"

"Yeah, something like that."

Dave changed position and sat down, then slowly closed his eyes. As he was sitting in silence, his wounds started to heal; it was prolonged but was progressing. As he was sitting, a slight reddish aura appeared around him. Above the red aura, a barely visible goldish aura formed. Suddenly these thin auras turned into tiny particles and started going towards Dave. As they touched him, they entered his body as if Dave was absorbing these particles.
