Humanity died, once. On the planet Topròto, the first human civilization was known. Only, two thousand years after the discovery of this planet, when the humans from Earth finally reach it, there are few life forms in sight, none of them even remotely humanoid.  The world is full of mysteries, fear, disappearances, and wars.
