Two species of associate status to the council no longer exist and the only records of their existence now remain in what knowledge they have provided to us in attempts to gain membership. The cause of such loss is the current invasion by an antagonistic Class 5 species known as The Erents. While we may be more technologically advanced in every way except militarily, at this present moment that is all that matters. We are outmanned and outgunned and holding our current positions is greatly taxing on both our resources as well as our population.

You have no doubt seen the extent of the devastation in the number of names being entered into the Memorial Codex. Therefore, you may recognise that this position has been granted to you in an attempt to make an alliance with a bordering faction capable of seeing us through this tumultuous time. However, all friendly systems have adopted a strategy of appeasement in which they have abandoned us in order to hopefully sate the desire of The Erents in the hopes that our sacrifice will create a long-lasting status quo.

We understand that you may feel that we have sent you into a situation in which it is unlikely for you to return; but know that we have considered every possible course of action with this being the only hope of any real long-term success. Humanity as a species is relatively new to interstellar colonisation in comparison to all other known civilisations that have reached this type of technology. It is assumed from one of the few satellites that they have launched into deep space that they have only started to invest in colonisation of foreign planetary bodies for the last 300 years. despite this their current technology capability have only accelerated exponentially; meaning that this species is highly intelligent with innate traits that favour abstract thinking. This means that they are capable of not only making rapid theoretical advances but are also capable of putting them into practical use.

They are not satisfied with living in artificial environments when colonising so in preparation of their arrival they invest great amounts of resources in order to change the atmosphere of future colonies making such planetary bodies the equivalent of Class 7 to their own species. This technology has yet to be replicated because of the immense danger and ethical issues of most interstellar civilisations. If this was the only information we have of Humans, then we would have long been in contact and have encouraged them to apply for membership as soon as they were detected.

However, there is some worrying information included in these satellites as well as observed behaviour of this species. The first issue that has prevented official contact is the displayed aggression and competitive nature of this species. They have not formed and are unlikely to form a unified government which holds credible power over the different nation states and as such their colonisation has often been with the enthesis of competition between competing factions. One of the issues you will have to overcome is which of these factions you will make first contact with.

From one of the few observations we have made from monitoring signals that reach beyond the designated exclusion zone that surrounds their territory is that the continental nation state of Australia is likely to be the best candidate for first contact attempts. Its geographical coordinates will be sent to your vessels navigation systems. The aggressive nature of this species means that the mere presence of your vessel may be enough to spark conflict from any of the numerous nation states and therefore a distress signal from your vessel will be emitted constantly and powerfully in one of the native languages known as English as it is the official language of the Australian nation state.

The journey from the exclusion zone to the Australian continent will likely be the most dangerous and volatile part of your ambassadorship. As you land you will likely be in contact directly contacted with the Australian government which is in a direct alliance with The United States of America which controls greater military resources than every other nation state combined. Be careful. Be aware. Be polite.

Another precaution to take is that there may be harmful micro-organisms or other biologically hazardous substances in their environment, so you have been provided with a suit designed to regulate and analyse the atmospheric components in order to determine the safety of ingestion of the local air and development of vaccinations. Your selection in this critical mission is also due to the appearance of your species as you hold characteristics similar to both Humans and one of the creatures they have domesticated for companionship.
