Questioning

Sal's POV

----------------------------------------

"How's the weather?"

That line is the blandest, stereotypical way to start a conversation. A cursed topic, like someone who-must-not-be-named, it was what Sal was trying to prevent in the first place.

Freezing in shock, Sal's face melting into horror was worthy of clickbait videos.

"Well," Rosa calmly responded, "I mean the weather is always the same. Either it is raining, or it isn't. There really is nothing else-"

While Rosa was talking, she turned to look at Sal to see his eyes watery and red, pausing her words momentarily.

"Sal? Are you…crying?"

"No," Sal whined, trying to keep the snot rolling out of his nostrils, sniffing ferociously to retract the dripping snot threatening to make his whole face sticky.

"Hmm… Sal, why are you breaking into tears, or at least, breaking into a snot waterfall?"

"No, everything is fine!"

"...Sal, I'm nervous to talk to you right now."

"Wait, really?"

"Yes, after all this is the first time I'm talking to someone else besides my family. This is a new experience for you, and perhaps for you too. Right now, this is a learning experience, so let's stop the snot running out from your nose."

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Sal snatched a couple of leaves nearby, wiping his snout from the gooey substance that created strings from every pull.

Seeing Sal calm down a bit, Rosa resumed her previous point, sighing a little, "Today's weather is quite nice. The moon is really beautiful right now. It gives the place a silvery glow like the world is drowning within mercury."

Rosa smiled, closing her red eyes, basking her body within the soft luminescence.

"Well, Sal, do you love the night? I particularly love it, especially when such a gem is hanging on this dark, velvety tapestry, the gem shining its gentle yet cool light unlike any other source of light."

Sal seemed to be injected with energy as he soon answered, "I really love the night too!"

"Especially since the temperature gets more refreshing," Sal continued, his words drawn out in satisfaction, "The air feels less suffocating."

"However, as much as I love the night, I still have to sleep. I sleep a lot, and paired with my bad eyesight, the nighttime is a comforting time to just doze off."

"Oh?" Rosa's interest was piqued, "So are you more suited for daytime?"

"Not exactly," Sal interjected, "I don't really like how stuffy it is, especially since I'm blind when the sun is out."

"You're blind?"

"The sun's light is so intense that I'm basically blind. I actually see better in dimmer light!"

"Wow, that's fascinating. So you're nocturnal?"

"Nocturnal?"

"Yes. You're more active at night than during the day."

"Well, I am nocturnal then! I can't believe I'm learning about myself!" Sal smiled widely, goofily remarking, his cheeks inflating into balloons.

"That's so interesting. I would've never known. Frankly, do you remember when we first met? I just want to ask, why do you climb down the tree to p-"

"WHat…I mean, why do you ask Rosa?" Sal nervously wheezed, his heart nearly exploded out of his heart when he heard Rosa talk about 'it'!

"Well, it's frankly an interesting habit to do. After all, who holds it in just to release their filth? It seems unconventional and frankly, a bit foolish. Why not p-"

Sal almost jumped from the sheer mention of the p-word.

"HahAa! You don't need to worry! It's pretty normal for me!"

"Normal?" Rosa questioned, raising her brow, her eyes wriggling.

Sal knew from Rosa's tone, that he wasn't going to get away with this question.

-I'm dead.-
