Angels Descent

As the sun sets and the sky begins to darken, Arthur looks to the stars and says, ''Tonight, I will take the House of Rose down once and for all. I'm tired of them thinking they run this town; they are tyrants who only care about dominance. The Dwaynes will be better!''

Edith walks up behind Arthur and gives him a hug. ''I know, my love, you'll take them down. Arthur holds her tight. ''Tonight is the night; I must prepare. Tell the children I'll be back in the morning'' Edith nods. ''Ok, I will. Be safe, my love.

Arthur heads down to the basement to retrieve his sword and shield and put on his armour. As the darkness of night sets in, Arthur heads out, hiding in the shadows so as to avoid any unwanted attention. Across the street, he can hear two people talking about the house rivalry. ''The streets are becoming ever more dangerous now that House of Rose extremists are patrolling,'' one of them says. ''The Dwaynes need to put an end to their controlling nature, the other replies. ''Yes, I agree; enough is enough; they think they run everything just because they have the most influence'' was the first reply. Arthur clenches his fists tight and heads towards the centre of Gratsid, where House of Rose guards are patrolling. Arthur throws a glass bottle to distract one of the guards, and while distracted, he ducks down and crawls through the basement hatch. permitting him entry, while down there he spots a lone guard facing away. Arthur crouches down and sneaks up behind him, stabbing him in the back. ''For the Dwaynes'' Arthur says in a hushed tone. Upstairs is another guard. Arthur hides in a closet nearby and waits patiently for the guard to walk by. He then throws open the door and stabs him through the neck. ''One down, Arthur whispers to himself. As Arthur climbs the stairs to the second floor, he is spotted by a guard, and a battle begins between the two of them. Arthur swings his sword towards the guard, who deflects it with his shield. Their battle can be heard from streets away; this alerts the rest of the guards, who rush to Arthur's position and surround him. ''Stupid Dwayne, thinking you can just come here and kill the Rose family, how amusing'' A guard says

From the master bedroom, Donovan Rose appears: ''Arthur, Arthur, Arthur, when will you learn? You can't beat us. Arthur replies, ''You only cause havoc in this town! The locals hate your family''. ''That's quite enough for today, guards; feed him to the fish!''.

The sun rises, and Edith brings her boys breakfast in bed. ''Father said he would be back by morning; we can all wait for him, she says to Romulus and Remus. ''I'm sure father is fine, mother, Romulus replies. Edith sits in silence, looking out the window. ''I hope you're right, she mutters under her breath. ''When you finish your breakfast, get changed, and we can do some training, Father will be pleased to see your training'' Edith says to the boys. ''Of course, mother'' Remus replies. Edith leaves the room and heads downstairs. Later in the day, Romulus and Remus spar against each other. ''I got you this time, brother'' Remus says as he wacks Romulus on the arm. Romulus swipes his legs, and he falls to the floor. "Haha, maybe next time, brother, Romulus says jokingly. ''Ok, you two, that's enough; it's getting late and my father still hasn't returned,'' Edith says. They both go silent. Edith looks down to the floor and says, ''It'll be okay, mother. Father has been late before, and he's always returned. You have nothing to worry about''. ''Okay, boys, I'll go and start dinner,'' Edith says, trying to distract herself. After an hour, dinner is made, and Edith sets the table for four. They all sit and begin to pray to the goddess Hylia. ''Hylia, watch over our loved ones and bring Father back to us. Bless this food and this meal; as we eat it, let us know that we are thankful for all the good things in our lives.'' Remus says in a soft tone. They hastily finish their meal, and the children begin to wash the wooden bowls. ''Okay kids, you two head up to bed now; you have more training tomorrow; don't forget'' Edith says, ''Okay, mother, we'll head straight to bed. Romulus replies. Romulus and Remus go upstairs to their shared room. Meanwhile, Edith sits at the table; she feels lost. ''What do I do, Hylia?'' she whispers to herself. She gets up and heads outside. A soft wind blows as the moonlight shines on her skin. She takes a deep breath and heads out on her nightly walk; it has become a routine of hers. She passes house after house until she comes across a small lake. She sits and puts her bare feet into the cool water. ''Where are you, Arthur?'' she asks herself. In the moonlight, she sees something floating in the water. What's that? she wonders to herself. She leans over and spots Arthur's sword and shield floating. Tears start to well in her eyes. ''No, it can't be, not my husband. Edith screams in anger. She grabs his sword and shield from the lake. ''Arthur, Arthur, please be okay. I can't do this without you!'' Edith yells out into the darkness. The moon continues to shine on her.

Back at home, Romulus and Remus lay awake in their beds. ''Brother, do you think Father is going to return? Remus questions Romulus, ''Honestly, Remus, I don't know; mothers are really taking this badly; we've never seen her like this; I hope she's okay'' Romulus replies, ''Yes, me too, brother; let's get some sleep, and hopefully by tomorrow he'll return home and tell us of the adventure he's been on!''

In the morning, the brothers wake to the sound of their mother weeping. They rush downstairs to see her crying at the table. ''Mother, what's wrong? Romulus says as he puts a hand on her back, ''It's your father; I'm so sorry, boys; the House of Rose has Killed Arthur'' Edith says, barely able to get the words out. The boys both start to cry. ''But he promised to return; how could they kill father?'' Remus says as tears run down his cheeks. ''I WILL KILL THEM!'' Romulus screams. ''Boys, calm down; I promise you, we'll make House of Rose pay for what they've done. Arthur was a good man and deserved to live; the gods won't take kindly to what they've done,'' Edith says. ''Screw the gods; they never do anything! We will do this ourselves, mother, for father!'' Remus shouts.

Years pass, and the boys are now men. Remus and Romulus are now very experienced sword fighters. Remus was gifted his father's shield, and Romulus was given his sword. They train daily for their father's vengeance. Edith has grown grey and old; she often sits by the lake where Arthur died, waiting for him to return. Romulus and Remus plot to attack the House of Rose on the 10-year anniversary of Arthur's death. The House of Rose now runs the bustling town of Gratsid like gang leaders; they use the population for their own selfish gains. ''Tonight we celebrate the death of Arthur Dwayne'' Donovan Rose chuckles. His family laughed in agreement: ''Father, remember when Arthur's wife would beg for money from the banks? It was beautiful. To see that woman so broken is so satisfying'' One of his sons says: In their celebration, they don't notice the twins sneaking through their courtyard. ''You take that guard there, and I'll get the other one,'' Remus whispers to Romulus. ''Roger brother'' Romulus replies. They quickly sliced both of the guards necks. ''We must avenge our father tonight, brother'' Romulus whispers to Remus. ''Yes, brother, let's end their lives tonight; they can't be allowed to live any longer after what they did!'' Remus replies. They walk closer and closer to the Rose home. ''Remember, our target is Donovan Rose himself; once he's dead, the rest will be easy. Let's make Father proud!''.

As they creep closer to the house, Romulus trips a wire that sets off bells, alerting the Rose family. Donovan Rose ''INTRUDERS!'' he screams as he grabs his sword. The twins hide behind two pillars. ''They can't see us; when they come outside, we must strike quickly before they realise we're here! Romulus whispers to Remus, and Remus nods in reply. The door slams open. ''Come out, intruders; I'll gut you like fish!'' Donovan Rose shouts. He steps outside with four of his children. Romulus and Remus emerge from their pillars and walk slowly with confidence. Donovan's face drops. ''Children go inside, he says firmly. ''No, father, we can fight alongside you,'' Donovan's son replies. ''THAT A FUCKING ORDER GO INSIDE NOW!'' Donovan Rose says it angrily. The four children flee inside.

''I knew I'd see you two at some point; I should have seen this coming'' Donovan Rose says, ''You killed our father ten years ago; you took the last good man in this town, and I will make you pay!'' Romulus shouts. Remus lunges at Donovan with his sword pointed to his heart. Donovan is quick and blocks Remus's strike. ''Your no match for me, boy!'' Donovan Rose says as he tries to slice Remus; however, he blocks this with his father's shield. Romulus runs forward with his father's sword. ''You can try, but you won't beat us!'' Donovan Rose swings his sword towards Romulus and cuts him down, slicing his arm clean off. ''ROMULUS NO'' Remus screams, ''Brother, hold on! Donovan Rose swings again for the kill; however, Remus jumps to the side and stabs him in the arm. Donovan groans in pain. Remus kicks him in the chest, sending him backwards. Blood is gushing from Romulus's arm. Remus rushes to his aid. He tears his shirt off and wraps it around his arm, but while he's focusing on his brothers survival, Donovan rises up and walks towards the boys. He plunges his sword into Remus's back. ''NOOO REMUS!'' Romulus screams. ''This is the end for the Dwaynes'' Donovan says sternly. ''FATHER GIVE ME STRENGTH'' Romulus screams as Donovan pulls his sword from Remus's body. Romulus picks up his brother's and father's swords. ''GODS HELP ME, PLEASE. GIVE ME THE STRENGTH I NEED!'' Romulus screams out into the night sky.

Time stops for a moment, and a gleaming light engulfs the twins. They see a figure floating down towards them. ''Is that an angel?'' Romulus says. ''I am the Archangel Azriel, and I cannot sit by and let this tyranny continue. I propose a contract for you both. ''Azriel, the angel from the heavens, I thought you were merely a myth'' Remus says, ''Sadly, I am real, and this town needs me. You two wish to avenge your father. I propose a contract, a contract where, if you agree, your family will be able to summon the powers of the great angel Azriel in a time of dire need.'' Azriel continues, ''Well, what's the catch?'' Romulus shouts in pain as the pain in his arm begins to get worse. ''Once your contract is complete, anyone who marries into the Dwayne family will meet an untimely death. Only one heir can be born in every generation, and the heir will then gain my strength when it's their time.'' Azriel says, ''Heir to what?'' Remus asks, ''Only you can determine that,'' Azriel says. ''It must be done, for father'' Romulus says, ''Yes, for father'' Remus says.

They grab the glowing archangel's hand, the contract is made, and the wounds disappear. Time resumes, and both brothers prepare to slaughter the Rose family bloodline. They walk with a sinister look in their eyes towards Donovan; he looks terrified. Their new power is emanating around them. ''What are you?'' Donovan screams.

The brothers charge towards him with swords in hand. Donovan Rose attempts to block, but with the power of the Archangel Azriel behind them, the brothers cleave right through his blade. They cut Donovan in half.

''This isn't over, Dwaynes; my house will return and you will perish!'' Donovan Rose says in his final moments before passing away. The Dwayne brothers force open the door to the children's room; all of them are huddled together in fear. ''We are going to kill every single one of you; we are going to slaughter your entire family and end the Rose family line for good!'' Romulus says. The children begin to scream for their lives as Romulus sinks his blade into the eldest son's neck. Blood gushes out, covering the other children. The remaining son and daughter scream for their lives, begging Romulus, ''Brother, what are you doing? They are children!'' Remus screams. ''They are the future generation of Roses, and we cannot allow that to happen, brother. I can't bear to look at their innocent faces any longer,'' Romulus says with bloodlust in his eyes. Remus grabs Romulus and forces him out of the house. ''I cannot look at you in the same way'' Remus says to Romulus, furious with his actions.

Remus walks away. ''Brother, you know it has to be done'' Romulus shouts to him. ''It didn't have to be like that!'' Remus shouts back. ''I did what I had to do; one day you will understand that. Romulus shouts, ''I will never understand your blood thirst, brother!'' Remus says.

''I never want to see you again; you aren't my brother!'' Remus says as he walks away from his twin. Romulus is in shock; he feels the hatred growing in his heart for his brother. ''Oh, we will meet again, brother, and I won't be so nice next time.'' Romulus says to himself.

Remus walks back to his home alone. He opens the front door to see his mother on the floor. ''Mother? Mother, wake up,'' Remus shouts. no reply, ''MOTHER!!'' Remus shakes her; there is still no reply. ''The Dwayne will remember you, mother'' Remus says. He wipes the tears from his eyes and heads back outside. Remus travels to the centre of Gratsid and creates a new home for himself. He spends the following days recruiting the finest architects and builders to design him a grand estate that would represent the Dwayne family's newly acquired power.
