Prologue: A Denial And An Acceptance

Prologue: A Denial And An Acceptance

“This child…this child will be our future!”

A dramatic voice woke him from his sleep. “Where am I now?” He tried to open his eyes but couldn’t.

“Awwwww shiiieeeet, here wee go agaaanne.”

The baby’s eyes didn’t open on the first day he was born, no matter how many lives he used to live.

He was only able to feel, and he felt being lifted up.

“This is…”

“Huh? So, the previous compliment wasn’t for me. But what’s with this hesitance?”

“I’m sorry, Moura. Your child…”

“What? WHAT? Don’t stop it half way!”

“I know... But nothing I can do? He is my baby!” a female voice, he assumed, spoke up.

It seemed she was defending, no, protecting him from something, or someone.

“Sorry, Moura. You know the rule.”

A tug of war occurred right after that, between the female and the male. The ruction with mixture of screams and wrestling was tearing him apart.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

His arms were almost detached from his shoulder, whilst his legs were being twisted. “But why my body still hold on? A baby’s figure shouldn’t withstand such violence.”

Curiosity later. Suddenly, all pulling forces disappeared.

“Much bette—”

Following the relief was a throw. A strong, determined heave sent him to the infinity and beyond.

“WAIT A MINUTE! CHO-TO-MA-TE!”

Sadly, the baby’s cry wasn’t saving him. He was tossed away like a useless stone.

“I’m falling?” For few seconds, he dared not imagine what would happen next. “A pointy stone would stab me? A rhino’s horn? Or just hit the ground and smash?”

Hundreds of dead scenes emerged in his head. None was gentle.

“Fine! Not the first time I die right after birth.”

*BOOP*

Instead of a hard rock, he landed on something soft and elastic. Even so, he kept falling down after a bounce, into something else.

“AAAHHH!”

“What’s wrong?”

According to the tone, he guessed they were both females, like the one trying to protect him. But there were differences.

“A baby’s just fallen into me.”

“What? How? And why?”

“How can I know? But he—” the female checked his genital “—yeah, he isn’t hooman.”

“I can see that! And that’s why we must keep going.”

“And leave him here? All by himself?”

“His kin are going to pick him up.”

“No!” she was steadfast. “Don’t you see? He only has one wing!”

“I’m bringing him with me.” She hugged him tightly.

He heard a big sigh, but nothing else. They seemed to come with an agreement.

“So, I’m not dead. Good. Right?”

No idea what the future held, but he must embrace it. At least, he would have another chance to change his destiny.
