Holy One

Part 1.1 Awakening

Drip...drip...drip...drip, piercing through the loud barrage of rain, constant, rhythmic, and seemingly endless. Deafening, all-consuming, accumulating on the frigid stone floor. Such things are often a blessing in disguise as the cold grip of reality washed away. However, fate was cruelly set in stone that no erosion could eliminate for long, as soon, it began. Rancid, sickening, the lingering scent wafting through the air. Almost every sense overwhelmed for lack of a better word. The only constant being eternal darkness infiltrating the windows to the soul.

Part 1.2 Preparation

New sensations, not unwelcome but clear signs of destiny rearing its ugly head. Ushered to a new destination, blinded from one extreme to another, the pieces were falling into place. stripped of the last shreds of decency and thrown into the cattle here the weak are finally broken. Pain, suffering, agony, hell, no synonym or description enough to even start coming close to describing it. Mercy couldn't be farther from the fate of the little ones caught up in this cruel life. The last essence of humanity and determination wrung out of all those still holding on.

Part 1.3 Finale

Retrieved from the depths, hope not present in these last moments the feeble, weak, little ones were shuffled to their finality. The apparent conclusion obvious to those not utterly and completely gone. audibly, visually, olfactorily, and almost gustatorily, and soon to be physically it was all laid out. For those conscious the only feeling was relief, in this twisted reality the end was a blessing of the highest decree. Succumbing to this was as easy as a breath in and out in a restful sleep. For those lucky few they accepted fate with open arms, destiny truly shined upon these brilliant souls. Release, freedom, it truly never tasted this sweet, no sensation was as powerful and fulfilling.

Part 2.1 Reverence

Walking up to the church I could feel them, it was more than overwhelming, it was a complete sense of superiority. Preparing myself for their awakening I took a deep breath and prayed, to any god but the Holy One. I knew beforehand that nobody here could control themselves, I knew all too well. There was nothing anyone could do, we told ourselves, we had to there was no other way. Every 50 years, like clockwork, the Holy One would awaken and it was our job to satisfy them. As I entered their domain I became subject and slave to the Holy One, falling in line with everyone else. In a trance-like state many big ones came together for worship on this special day "The Holy One is here, oh what a virtuous day, all praise the Holy One. Oh, the Holy One is here and they will not wait for their great feast. Oh Holy One we revere you, oh Holy One we love you, oh Holy One we need you. The Holy One is here, oh what a virtuous day, all praise the Holy One. Oh, the Holy One is here and they will not wait for their great feast. Oh Holy One we revere you, oh Holy One we love you, oh Holy One we need you." The chant continued on and on, a constant and repressive noise.

Part 2.2 Pit

I opened the door to one of the many cells in the dungeon that lay under the church, light seeping into the impossibly black darkness of the room. The little one was crouched in the corner, a horrid stench coming from the room and a puddle of water lay on the ground where a leak was letting in the rain in small droplets of water. I took the little one and guided it towards its new home. A smile etched across my face as I tossed it into the pit, I reveled in the sights and sounds before me. The Holy One will be satisfied, he must be satisfied, Holy One let it be so. The next day I collected a group of little ones trailing behind another big one my grin wider than should be possible as it was almost time to see them. As I entered their great chamber my excitement couldn't be squashed, the sight was one to behold and was more beautiful than words could ever describe.

Part 2.3 Feast

The sight of them took the air out of my being and spirit, the beauty, the pure brilliance almost being too much for a mortal one to bear. The blood and viscera only accentuated their features as the Holy One devoured their much-deserved feast. I led the little ones behind the previous group and sat at the table indulging in the meal the big ones graciously received from our glorious Holy One. As a little one got up onto the table lying in the previous remains of many, many little ones it uttered but a single phrase tears streaming down its cheeks. "Oh Holy One, let me be one with you." With that the Holy One ripped this little one's leg off and tore skin from muscle then muscle from bone, tossing the bone to the side into a truly gargantuan pile. As the Holy One gorged themselves on the little one it died listening to one last sound echoing out above all other noises. A sad slow smile appeared on its face as it reminisced on what felt like lifetimes ago, blood pooling off the table onto the pristine floor...drip...drip..drip...drip..drip...
