Castouts from their kingdom, Alcoi, the faction of Revert fled into the great forest that has never been breached before. Every scouting team that tried to get into there never came back (they tried to but the magical influence also influences ones sense of direction and thus every time they tried to get away they turned towards the forest once again).

Thinking that this is the last part of the world where they can actually survive now they turn towards the middle of the forest. Their great mages feel something from there, a huge magical influence.

When they arrive they see a giant tree in the middle of thick forest. It is nearly hollow and there seems to be a magical vein flowing through the tree. This point starts to be the central point of a the new hope, called Genesys.

As days go by they find everything they need in the surroundings, enough fruits to last for months and a wildlife that can support them.

Domesticating those animals and culture the wild crops to become able to support their new city they grow with time. It takes nearly 2 years for them to have a town built of wood from the forest and clearing these parts.

Now that here is something akin to a society again they wanna reach more. The crops and animals grow faster under the influence of the Genesys tree and it is very easy surviving here. During these years there were some acounters with other people though that seem to originate from wild tribes around. (originally the scouting parties tried to survive here and teached how to survive to their kids, but without the needs to make a society they devolved towards a tribal style of living throughout the generations).

Although the encounters were not aggressive the arrogant nobles tried to catch as many of those people as possible and let them do the menial tasks. For example mining in the new mine.

After some weeks there is something peculiar discovered in the mines, a kind of stone that was not known to the people of Alcoi before, Quartz. It seems to have been in the area of huge magical influence for soo long that it absorbed some magic and changed its original composition to better contain the magic.

After debating for a bit it was decided to abandon the wooden quarters with time and build a huge city based on this new resource. Thus the city of Genesys was slowly founded, its surroundings deforested and an additional city built underground. This underground city did not need a name, it is located in the mines and contains all slaves and soon also criminals and castaways that have to work in the mines never to see the sun again.

With a heavy guard presence and mine instructors these people, soon to be called Grounders, work day and night. In the beginning for the hope of getting out after settling their debt and as the years pass more and more just to rise in their rank among the slaves to be the one that gets the best food and other resources like beds, clothing etc. The day that the great Genesys Tower was finished is marked as the first day of a new calender. Year 1 of Genesys.

The earliest document and writings available to all citizens are dated on roughly 100 years before Genesys and describe the struggles about the first little settlement here. Any books, documents and writings about the outside and why they had to travel towards the forest are contained and never to be seen by anybody except the ones who belong to the leaders.

At the time of 150 th year of Genesys the miners started mining in the direction of the tree in hopes of finding how deep down the roots go and after nearly 20 years of trying to find the bottom it was decided that those roots are never ending, adding to a new belief that hails the Genesys tree.

From the beginning on there were many casualties amont the Grounders as those at the bottom never get enough food, sometimes not even anything. But after starting to mine towards the roots somehow this number starts to become smaller, it is still very big and keeping the numbers of those in control but there is a definite difference.

During the next generations the lowest of the low seem to change in appearance. A very thing stature, a little bit smaller than the others and having white hair and very pale skin without actually losing any strength. The nobility thought nothing of it other than a natural occourance and the other slaves kept their higher ranks so nothing really changed, but with this change a new subgroup was created, the Crawlers.

They actually got their new nickname because for some reasons they are sometimes seen crawling on the ground seemingly searching for something. Above ground the landscape complettely changed too.

The forest vanished and in its place is the giant Genesys tower surrounded by various platforms that contain seperate villages responsible for the cattle and farming. These platforms are seperated by artificial canyons responsible for managing excessive water in case of a huge flood, which happened around 67 before Genesys.

In this flood the whole area of the mine caved in ad created a huge area around the Genesys tower that is on a lower altitude than its surroundings.

The city statred having problems with having these free villages in the middle of it that it was decdided to move the whole main city underneath those platforms. For these purposes the parts of the mine in the direction of the Genesys tree were excavated more and then complettely blocked off and any mine tunnels leading to that direction was abandoned to prevent the Groudners to escape into the city.

This decision was taken around 180 o.G. And the whole undertaking, moving the whole city underneath ground, providing a water supply with the nearby river and preventing suffocation. This was possible because this whole city is on one level with the ground surrounding the tower and thus it was able to let air in through its sides instead of having to somehow pump it down into the city.

The whole process of moving was later on called "The Relocation"

During this time the fortification of the Genesys tree was started. This fortification would not end until 450 o.G. Because of the difficulties of keeping the tree healthy while changing it into one huge organic building.

The whole process was suggested by Archmage Peny in 190 o.G. With the idea of strengthening the tree with mana infused Quartz while making the whole mana vein more available to the mages. The mage association already moved their headquarters into the Genesys tree several years ago because imbueing equipment with mana and trying to develop more advanced uses of magic they really need to advance further.

Thus after some contemplating and setting it aside for planning the Relocation the project started 200 o.G. After starting a problem surfaced rather quickly. The mana vein started to grow dimmer as more and more of the tree was changed. At first it was ignored as a product of imagination but soon the consequences were felt and thus the whole project was put on hold with only the bottom part even touched.

With time the tree regenerated and after some arguments it was decided to try once again 10 years later and this time only work on a small part, finish that part and then give the tree some time to heal. This whole process will take more than 250 years to finish.

During this whole time many scout parties were sent trying to find a way out of the forest, without success. It was agreed on that the forest may be the main problem, so while fortifying the tree they also tried to keep its magical energy inside for 2 reasons.

The first reason is trying to amplify the magical energy inside the tree by stopping excess energy from moving outside and the second reason being that they try to remove the forests distraction spells.

Around 250 o.G. Another huge discovery was made. At the bottom of the city there seems to be an open field that somehow generates dark red magic stones. These stones were named Rubinite for its resemblance of Rubys.

With these stones as a central focus with their huge magical capacity many magical equipment, especially enchanted swords and staffs were built. Even outside of the forests range these items would be hard to find and here with the supply being there it is hardly something worth mentioning.

With the trees influence on the forest vanishing over the next years in 276 o.G. They were finally able to break the spell and escape the forest. This day will from then on be known as the Freedom day.

From then on they, long forgotten by their former countries, try to establish themselves as a powerful country, the Country of Genesys or just nicked Genesys. Other powers were of course not happy with a powerful unknown suddenly surfacing and after they offered the worst diplomatical deals possible in this situation, practically enslaving Genesys, the inevitable thing happened, a war.

After some early skirmishes the whole continent had to acknowledge the weapons might that these warriors had, so for some years there was a dreadful peace in place, Genesys building up a military system and the others not daring to attack this unknown country they made an enemy of.

304 o.G. There was one of the most important develpoments for the years to follow. Genesys thinking that they are superior to everyone else and they should also know it sent a diplomatic convoy. When they wanted to cross the Dragonsky Mountains at a pass, from now on known as the Bloddy Pass, they ran into an ambush, killing nearly everyone including the second son of Genesys Ruler.

Just a few months later the whole continent will be involved in an all out war started by the raging residents of Genesys. The whole army equiped with superior magical enchanted equipment was unstobbable even in face of double their numbers.

In just 2 years every major force of the continent was swiped away and in face of this power the countries willingly complied instead of being erased from the face of the world like the first city trying to defend themselves.

The commander complettely destroying the capital city of Alcoi, Nagy, and a few more towns and armies during the war was named "The Eraser" in later days. This name is only spoken about in fear. It is still not generally agreed upon how these acts were possible, which just adds to the tale of the Eraser a few years after the shock.

At the end of the war the whole continent (roughly as big as Australia, nearly every part of it is inhabitable though) was united under the name of Genesys. Its capital's sight dominated by the huge fortified Genesys tree, an emblem for generations to come, and being unique in its layout with towns being on top of an underground city.

The existance of the Grounders is theoretically known but most people think these stories are just made to instill fear in those who want to oppose the nobles. And those who know of their existance mostly think that they are slaves, criminals and the scum of society being sent in there to work their crimes off.

In fact there are some of these people but nobody except the Nobles and those responsible for the Mine's management really know that there is a whole class of Humans down there for hundreds of years already, somehow surviving in the dark for all these years and seemingly living their lives as if it was the most normal thing to do.

The only sunlight they will eve see is the huge window on the ground of the Genesys tower, their window, dubbed as the Dark Sun.
