Mr. Monochrome

Mr. Monochrome

“Do you live in reality or are you living in fiction?” Asks a man on top a radio tower in the middle of nowhere,

“Well I guess you probably think you live in reality with what you’re doing right now, right?” he shrugs then sits down and leans against a beam.

“I mean you are alive you eat, sleep, think, be happy, be sad and do what most living people do it’s only natural” he sighs

“Oh, are you thinking why am I talking to you?” He looks at another man standing near him shaking and looking confused

“W- wh- who are you?” The other man asks shaking from where he stands

“Me? Why I’m just a guy who lives in both sides” the man shrugs

“My name?” He ponders for a moment

“Call me Mr. Monochrome” He chuckles lightly

“Yeah Mr. Monochrome, I like that fits with my taste... or is it fetish?” Mr. Monochrome ponders “Meh, doesn’t matter” then looks down moving his legs playfully

The other man still shaking, sweat pouring down his body

“C- ca- can you ple- please leave me alone?”

“Hmm? Why?” Mr. Monochrome asks

“Why!? Can’t you see I want to jump! I’m going to kill myself!” The shaking man says

“Really? Why are shaking then? You’re confusing me” Mr. Monochrome retorts

“If you wanna jump, jump don’t mind me I’m just enjoying the view of this beautiful night” the man chuckles

“You aren’t here to stop me?” The shaking man asks

“Why would I? You probably have your reasons I’m not the type to justify or judge others, this is a free world do what you want” The man gestures raising both his hands and looking up the sky

“Aren’t you gonna ask why I’m doing this!?” The once shaking man now crying man shouts

“Really dude?” The man looks at the crying man and sighs

“Guess you’re one of those people who where just misunderstood or mistreated right?” Mr. Monochrome sighs “I sure you’re thinking life is so unfair and stuff, right?” Mr. Monochrome air quotes and sighs

The crying man doesn’t speak

“Geez, I was planning on sitting here and just enjoy the night but why did this happen?” Mr. Monochrome sighs

“You where the one that came here!” The crying man shouts

“Oh yeah! I totally forgot! haha my bad” Mr. Monochrome exclaims

“Let me think for a moment, I totally forgot why I went here” He chuckles and ponders for a moment

“Ah! I remember now I was observing you!” He snaps with his finger

“But I got distracted by the beautiful night sky sorry, I mean come on take a look” Mr. Monochrome points

The man looks at where Mr. Monochrome points and fell into silence as he sees the stars twinkle so brightly and the moon just glowing in beautiful radiance.

“…!” the man stares

“Breath-taking right? Come on, sit down enjoy the night I know you rarely see these things” Mr. Monochrome states as he smiles

The man then snaps from his depression and relaxes sitting down and admiring the glittering sky

“I don’t get it” the man says as he stares at the night sky

“Get what?”

“Staring at the stars, I mean what’s the point” the man sighs

“I don’t know” Mr. Monochrome shrugs with one hand

“then why do it” the man asks

“I don’t know, but it did calm you down right?”

“Well, yeah I guess so” The man leans on a beam

“So still want to jump?”

“Not really, but I’m sure I’ll get back to it at some point” The man sighs

“Death is my only freedom now”

“Well aren’t you chipper” Mr. Monochrome retorts

“So, mind telling me why you want to die after seeing such a beautiful sky?”

“I’m just tired I guess, I always know peace is temporary” the man quotes

“life is fair as it is, but people tend to abuse it”

“People like to use their gains in life just to attain authority over the things they want to control”

“So many hunger for power, every day war or any conflict is just at a push a way yet most of the world mindlessly live unaware or they are but ignore it just to live life peacefully”

“Well, it is human nature to live life as their needs inquire nothing we can do about that” Mr. Monochrome shrugs

“That’s why I want to die, I want to be free from this world”

“Are you sure it’s because you want to free from this world or you just want to be free from the realization of the world’s true state?”

“I… I don’t know”

“You’re very kind aren’t you” Mr. Monochrome chuckles and smiles

“Kindness is good for others and to yourself in normal amounts, but too much kindness brings people to madness”

“How?” the man asks

“Those who open their minds and hearts to others, technically open their mind to the world” Mr. Monochrome gestures one hand outward

“With that, those people become victim to the truth of the world. Understanding the ugly truth of their lives. The next thing these people do are pretty much dependent on how they lived so far” Mr. Monochrome exclaims in a tired voice

“Pessimists tend to choose suicide or secluding themselves, Optimist blind themselves, and others pile things up and at some point, break like you”

“…”

“Hey why don’t you work for me?” Mr. Monochrome suggests to the man

“Work? What kind of work?” the man asks

“Reforming the world!” Mr. Monochrome chuckles

“…” the man ponders for a moment

“Alright” the man then answered

“Great! Knew you would agree” Mr. Monochrome chuckles

“How did you know?”

“Call it intuition” Mr. Monochrome laughs

“So, you hungry?”

The man laughs “Yeah I am”
