HA2 0.1 – Prologue
Gloomy air filled the moonless and starless night, while thin fog started blanketing the row of fir trees that flanking Highway 11. Here and there, low whistle of owl was heard among choir of cricket and night insect.
The air was cold and eerie if someone didn’t use to it. However, Hide calmly enjoyed it and even blended with it. He lay still and silent behind a suppressed Mk.12 Sharpshooter Rifle, right on top of foothold of giant billboard that displayed a smoking hot model in bikini enjoying a diet coke.
From his position, Hide could see incoming traffic from Aida City up to a few kilometers away. The distance would give him plenty of time to sniff tonight prey. His position also had a perfect vantage point. It would help him a lot to finish the fight in the shortest time possible.
However, it was without drawback. The firing position Hide chose was a trade between perfect vantage point and his own safety. A well placed spray and pray from a hundred meter would definitely hit him badly. Unfortunately, with current precision rifle he had, Hide couldn’t picky about firing position.
Then, a headlight suddenly appeared in the distance. It was closing in at high speed, 100 km/h at least. Before long it reached a distance of 1 km from Hide’s position, while a radio call from Takeo came in.
[Orange to Apple and Pear, do you read me?]
Hide calmly pressed PTT button and replied, “Apple to Orange, loud and clear.”
[Pear to Orange, loud and clear.]
[Apple, Pear, be advised, we have tonight prey, Blue Evo XI, a driver and two passengers.]

After two hours of waiting tonight prey finally arrived. Without delay Hide rested his check on the Mk.12’s buttstock and calmly tracking his target. Low light scope on top of his Mk.12 had effective range only up to 200 meters, but it was more than enough. He plant to hit tonight prey at a distance of 100 meter.
Hide also had to stop Blue Evo while limiting the possibility it lost control, hit the guard rail, and plunged into the cliff. In short, he couldn’t kill the driver when the car moved at high speed. His only choice was to stop the car by killing its engine.
Then, as soon as Blue Evo reached a distant of 200 meter from his position, Hide immediately put his right eye behind the scope and took an aim on its hood. The sedan was right wheeled, so the engine block would be on the left side. A second later Hide shifted the safety lever and waited until the last moment before gently squeezing the trigger.

One round of 5.56 mm match-grade smoothly leaved Mk.12’s muzzle and welcomed the incoming Blue Evo. It perfectly hit the engine block and in instant black oil splattered all over on the windshield.

Blue Evo’s driver immediately stepped hard on the brake. As a result, Blue Evo’s tires were screaming sharply as its sliding for a dozen meter on the slightly wet road. It didn’t stop on the expecting killing zone, but Hide didn’t have time to thinking about it. Wasting no time, he fired second round and it perfectly hit the driver on the forehead.
The man on the passenger seat immediately cocked his Mini Uzie, but Hide nailed his head before the man had a chance to fire it. Unfortunately, the third man on the back seat had dropped his body before Hide could nail him. As a result, Hide could only wait until window of opportunity present itself.
Meanwhile, Shizuka was on her way to flank Blue Evo. She lost her line of fire as soon as Blue Evo passed through the expected killing zone. Fortunately, this was her fourth job with Hide and Takeo. So, she didn’t fluster in front of unexpected circumstance.
Without delay Shizuka adjusted her position. It was only six meters adjustment, but she had to hurry. Under the darkness of the night, it was very easy to spot muzzle flash from Hide’s Mk.12, and currently Hide was on a vulnerable position.
With the help of NVG Shizuka easily find her way. Her steps were swift but silent like a cat. Her upper body was slightly bending forward while her hands firmly hold silenced M4-PDW close to her chest.
She swiftly reached a giant fir tree just a dozen meters to the left of Blue Evo, and immediately pressed her back against it. After slightly peeking on the Blue Evo, she then kneeled to the side and use Eotech 551 on top of M4-PDW to scan the car.
It seemed her luck was good tonight. She didn’t need to wait for long before a head appeared on the backseat of Evo III. The man peeked on Hide’s direction from behind driver seat, before carefully placing a Mini Uzie and took an aim. Wasting no time Shizuka neutralized him.

A good double tap hit the man on the head, just slightly above his ear. Blood and bits of brain instantly splattered to Blue Evo’s window, while the man body slowly fell to the side. By using her left hand, Shizuka then pressed PTT button and radioed Hide, while maintaining her line of fire on the Blue Evo.
“Pear to Apple, do you read me?”
[Loud and clear.]
“How many kill do you have?”
[Two.]
“I will snatch our prize then. Cover me.”
[Copy, I have your back.]
Wasting no time, Shizuka approached Blue Evo to carry out the finishing touch. After making sure all threat had been neutralized, she took a bag full of money on the back seat. When she found that tonight prey carried untraceable gun, she immediately packed it too.
At the same time, about 900 meters from Shizuka’s position, Takeo calmly got up to his feet. Other than spotting and identifying, Takeo had secondary role to block tonight prey’s retreat route if they managed to escape from Hide and Shizuka. However, the two had bagged tonight prey so he proceeded to the next step.
As he pushed M4-PDW’s buttstock back into its slot, Takeo lightly jogged to the nearby thick and high shrub where he concealed a Black Triton model 2025. Without delay he turned the Black Triton’s engine on, but without switching its lamp on. Then, he went to pick Shizuka and Hide.
After that, Takeo took the Black Triton off the main road. It was dark, bumpy, and rough journey cutting through a forest made of giant fir tree. The Black Triton also had to cross a wide but shallow river once, before going uphill and then downhill. However, no one in the car was complaining.
The three young robbers had already simulated the off road journey a few times, both on daylight and nighttime by foot. So, they were perfectly familiar with the route. Not to mention, they had to take the off road route to arrive on the other side of the hill unseen.
