RYDERS POV:
As Rowen and I make our way through the Forrest, a peaceful calm over takes me. Finally, I can breath. We've been riding for almost an hour now and the town should'nt be too much further along. Gavyn told me it could be easy to miss but staying on the dirt path should lead us straight to it.
"How are you feeling King Ryder" Rowen asks.
"Really Rowen, there's no need to use formality out here, no. For the time being just drop the "King", and I feel at peace for now."
"Very well Ryder, we should be able to see the town soon enough."
We continue to ride on the path and I use this moment to take another deep breath and look up at the sky.
"The sky is much different here than it is in faerie."
"Yes it is isn't it, both completely different yet utterly beautiful." Rowen says wistfully.
"Couldn't agree with you more old friend."
"Do you call me old friend just because I am older than you? Or is it because we have an old friendship." Wow. 2 seconds and the mood is ruined.
Gods above.... Save me from this conversation
" The latter Rowen."
"If you say so" Rowen says in a tone that states he doesn't believe what I said.
"Are you tired, is that why you're getting cranky? It's passed your bed time isn't it."
"I KNEW IT! IM ONLY 20 YEARS OLDER THA-"
Cutting him off I say "look! The town is coming into view." The buildings are of all sizes as they come into view, though most lights are off, the closer we get the more I can make out the buildings and signs. "Ah over there, that's the inn and the tavern connected to it, and would you look it here, we can let the horses rest in the sable next door."
Sliding off Arogon a man comes out of the stables to great us "hello there travelers, the names Willy, I got space in the stable for your darlins if you want me to take 'em off your hands, inn and stable prices are inside at the front desk." Interesting... he's a lycan, he must know what we are and yet. The man stays peaceful.
Rowen answers for me while I head inside "that would be very kind of you sir thank you." I head to the front desk to find out prices but see that no one is there. Looking around the inn it feels...quite simple and comfortable.
obviously popular it seems as I look at the room key rack and see more than half of them missing. I stand at the desk and find a tiny bell that I decide to tap a couple of time and wait. A few seconds later I hear a high pitched tone of voice yell.
"One second sugar! Just showing a guest to the tavern and I'll be right with you."
I turn my head to see a petite blonde smiling at me from across the room just as Rowen walks through the front doors.
I reply with "that's quite alright, take your time please."
"Get everything checked in yet?" Rowen asks
"Not quite yet, the front desk woman is showing a guest somewhere first and then coming to help us after."
"Ah well that's alright the horses are all settled, Willy seems like a nice person, says he takes good care of the horses he tends, says it brings him good peace."
"Hm interesting for a lycan" I reply.
"Indeed it is, and I'm picking up on another one in here too, though it's more feminine. Hmm Is it that beautiful blonde? Wait....... I smell a fae as well."
What? Here? I focus on my senses finding Rowen to be correct, What is she doing all the way out here?
I turn my head to see if I can find the mystery fae and immediately spot her following the blonde across the floor. As I take her in it's as if I stopped breathing. My heart skipped a beat and I knew I was staring at her as if she were the only person in the room.
Gods damn it Ryder get a hold of yourself. You've seen plenty of fae woman before And I have. But none ever looked like her.
She's quite tall, About 5'10". With curves that a man would only dream of grabbing. She's dressed in some type of leather and Valyrian steel armor that molds to her body like a thin, second layer of skin.
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
Gods have mercy. How does she have that? Her hair is a dark brown color that sparkles with deep, dark orange hues in the light, and her eyes, Like golden pools of honey. Her nose is curved at the end like a button. And her lips. A soft shade of pink and Pouty. Beautiful...her ears poke through her hair and she's more on the pale side. Weird considering fae love the outdoors.
I watch as she turns and Gods forgive me when all I can do is stare at her ass as she walks towards the tavern. Gods damn me my mouth is watering. I then notice the fae dagger strapped to her thigh and the two fae scimitar swords strapped to her back in an X shape.
Embarrassingly, I'm rock fucking hard. Her scent is intoxication. I shake my head when I realize she's taken her seat and the petite blonde is already halfway to us. Get a fucking grip Ryder. You're acting like a fucking hormonal teenaged boy for fucks sake........ Goddess save me.
The blonde makes her way around the desk and finally gives us a name for herself.
"Hi there gentlemen, my name is Renae, how can I help you this evening?" She definitely smells like a lycan. Rowen answers before I do.
"Hello beautiful." This causes Renae to stumble a bit and her mouth to pop open while her neck all the way up to her cheeks blush a scarlet color. I smirk knowing Rowen will at least make a new friend here.
" I was wondering if you could help us with pricing and getting rooms for a couple of days."he says.
She takes a second to answer "of course yes, of course" she awkwardly giggles and pulls out a booklet from behind the desk.
"Stable prices are 20 coin a night, and rooms are 50 coin a night per person." She says and awkwardly smiles.
This time I answer "that's perfectly fine, is it alright if I give you a lump some for three days? And If we happen to stay longer I'll pay nightly."
"Oh that's perfectly fine darlin."
Rowen grabs my coin bag from my luggage and hands it to me. Luckily coins come in ones fives, tens, and twenties depending on how much gold is used for each coin. So I count out the exact amount and hand the coins over.
"Here you are Renae."
She takes the coin and Rowen asks "are there rooms available next to each other?" I fight not to roll my eyes.
" well theres one more room left on the second floor and the third floor currently only has one room in use."
I give Rowen a look that says, relax I don't need you to be up my ass. He doesn't fight his eye roll at all letting me see his eyes basically turn fully white before giving me a look and turning back to Renae.
"Lovely, I'll take the room on the second floor and Ryder here will take a room on the third floor."
"Perfect!" Renae squeaks "just follow me and I'll show you to your rooms." She grabs the ring of master keys along with two spares and leads us to the staircase where I risk a glance back at the mystery fae women who currently is eating some kind of stew. I plan to come back down and get to know her better.
Renae leads us to the second floor where the last room, 2-20 is available for Rowen. She opens the door and gives Rowen the run down while I wait a few feet away. Soon after she has me following her back to the staircase and up to the third floor. The stairs creak with every step we take and I smile. Definitely adds character.
"I'll probably drop off my things and go straight to the tavern for some food, no need to stand guard." I say as Renae leads me to the middle of the hallway.
"Well. Even though I grabbed I spare already I figure I'd just let you pick your room out" she says and there's almost a knowing look in her eyes. Well that's not Suspicious. I nod my head and walk down the hallway and back and pick out a random room.
" Room 3-18 seems fine enough" Renae flashes me a smile and take the room key off of the master set and hands it to me.
"I'm sure you don't need me to repeat anything but if you have any questions let me know."
"Thank you, I'll be sure to do that." Giving her a smirk I turn and walk to my room, unlocking the door and turning the lights on. Rowen won't be happy he got the smaller room. I laugh to myself and scope out the quarters.
King sized bed? Nice sheets, bathroom is pretty good, a tub with a shower head and a faucet. Not bad for a smaller sized inn. I quickly toss my bag on to the bed ,shut the lights off, and lock the door closing it behind me.
Slipping the key into my pants pocket, I make my way down the stairs and head towards the tavern looking around for the mystery woman and finally spot her sitting by the bar talking to a.....another fae? He's big, bald head, tattoos and a peppered beard. He's also eating a massive bowl of..... something I have no ideas of naming.
I sit down at a table and wait to see if anyone is working behind the counter. A big man who looks exactly like the one currently talking to the mystery fae pops out of the kitchen doors and makes his way over to me. Both bald headed with pepper shaded beards and tattoos though one has a scar and the other does not, the ears are unmistakable though. Fae.
The unscarred man walks up to my table and I stand to greet him "how are you sir." I ask
"I'm olright fer now. Three fae visitas in one night? Strange." He raises and eyebrow to me. Huh they have no idea who I am.. it's kind of.. nice.
"Is it rare to have fae visitors in this town?" I ask the burly man.
"I it is. We ave three fae livin in this town currently. Rarely do we Eva see fae visits." Three fae? Does the mystery fae woman live here? No, why would she be at the inn then.
"Me and my friend are only staying a couple of nights, then we will be out of your hai- uh way." I immediately hear a giggle and I swing my head to the fae woman hiding her face, feeling warmth spread through my chest, I look at the man next to her and see him smiling at me. Alright now I'm uncomfortable.
"Right then what'll ye be havin?"
"Do you have any kind of beef stew?"
"Don't ask stupit questions, yeah I make a hell of a stew don't I girly?" He asks the mystery fae. I see her whole body tense as she slowly turns her head and answers with a slight smile.
"Yeah Timmy, best stew I've ever had"
Her voice is like velvet. She has a deeper tone, sultry and seductive but still feminine. Fuck my dick has never been so out of control since I was in fae grade school.
"Atta girly, I'll get ye yer stew, it'll be a few." Timmy turns around and walks into the kitchen while I'm stuck staring at the back of mystery girls head. The man next to her stands and makes his way over to me.
"I'm Tommy, Timmy n I ar brothas. I'm sure I'll see ye round a bit, have a good rest of yer night." I give him a send off as Tommy makes his way out of the tavern and again, my attention turns right to the mystery woman, as I stare at the back of her head once more.
