Chapter 2

The shelters they were visiting were shelters for less fortunate as well as those unlikely get a job. People who were unable to make ends meet suffered tremendously. They had to scavenge for survival.

As more and more people were struggling, the amount of food that could go around for the masses soon cleared the shelves in every convenience store, even the wholesale. What was left was a measly amount. But that didn't mean everybody had to act like rats. Government and food banks played a huge part during the outbreak. Since food was scarce at the time, certain shelters had been established to feed and accommodate the helpless. Even after the slowdown of the virus, people still flock to the shelters for certain needs: some parts of the country, still, yet to recover.

"Huh," Alice freshened up after she chugged a bottle of water.

She finished the interview just awhile ago.

She sat down on the side pavement and couldn't handle herself when she interviewed the person she was with. It felt as if she had to look after a crying mother who had lost her son in a sudden accident (she was just grateful) and then just crying on some stranger's shoulder. That stranger - Me. She did feel a bit of sympathy for the woman. But why, though? Why was she crying about it?

She felt like crushing something. Her fingers tightened the bottle of water and in a glance, the pressure built-in rushed out like a geyser.

She was wet from her carelessness, "No, I'm wet." She had a heated temper.

"Looks like you got wet," Luna jokingly said.

"Huh huh, funny," Alice laughed slowly.

Luna then took her seat beside Alice and offered her a piece of bread.

"You want some?" She offered her.

"Yeah, thanks," Alice accepted it.

It's just the two of them sitting down, eating and drinking.

As they were simply resting, drinking, and eating, Luna wanted to ask a very important question, "Alice do you think we'll ever be, you know, not get laughed at?"

Alice listened to her question while she ate a huge chunk of bread, "I dunno," she chewed as she responded and swallowed. "The time THAT boss of ours gives us a chance, maybe then we'll see," she nodded in a slow motion.

Full of excitement Alice was overcomed by Alice's words "Yeah I hope so, like we deserve it!" She said.

But Alice's words didn't mean it literally. She was just faking it. If by any chance she was only bluffing to fill the hole that both plagued their so so-called dream.
