What the hell is going on? The last thing I can remember is walking home from work...

I shook the mouse as my computer screen went black. Spreadsheets filled the screen and my eyes started to go a little fuzzy as I stared at column after column of numbers. I couldn’t wait for the day to end so I could finally go home, even if I hadn’t gotten anything done all day. I couldn’t seem to focus. Luckily, I was able to shut my office door so I could at least look busy when people walked by, but honestly, I spent most of today playing on my phone. I had to hurry at the end of the day though, Mark wanted me to go out for drinks again. I know he had the best intentions, but all I wanted to do was go home and read. I’d known Mark since college, but weren’t close until he and I both ended up at the same company. While I would consider us friends now, Mark could still be a bit much. He was the epitome of a social butterfly. I found it exhausting.

Maybe I can sneak out a few minutes early today, I’m sure no one will notice. I had no such luck. A knock came at my door and Mark stuck his head in.
“Hey Cal! I was hoping to catch you before you left for the day. I’m going out with Sarah tonight and she mentioned Jess will be there too. Apparently she’s been asking about you.” He said all this with a slight smile, knowing he got me.
I felt my cheeks begin to flush at his comments, despite my attempts to seem nonchalant. “I might be able to make it, what’s the plan?” I already knew that I was going to end up agreeing. Just hearing Jess would be there was enough for me to agree. I needed to get home and clean myself up though. I hope I have time
Mark’s grin only grew wider at my words, “Oh come on. We both know you were in as soon as I mentioned Jess. Don’t worry though, you have some time to calm down before we meet up. Sarah wants to meet up at Callahan’s around 8. I’ll see you there.” And with that, he ducked back out and shut the door behind him.
Damn, I didn’t even get a chance to answer. He hit the nail on the head though, I couldn’t say no to that offer. I took a couple deep breaths to get my heart back under control and let the blush fade. I could barely focus on work before this so I just shut off my computer and headed out. I shoved my headphones in as I walked out of the building and felt like I was walking on air as soon as the sun touched my face.
I couldn’t think of anything else on my walk home except that night. I tried to figure out what to wear and what we could talk about. I had met her a few times and while I was crushing hard, I had no idea how she felt about me. I was walking on autopilot until I stumbled. Looking down, it seemed like my foot was sinking. But that was impossible, this is a concrete sidewalk. But my foot kept getting deeper until I could no longer see it. I looked at other pedestrians, but none of them seemed to notice anything. The sinking seemed to speed up as I looked around and I soon found myself completely sucked into the ground.
Darkness surrounded me but my eyes were open and I seemed to be fine, but had no idea what was going on. This had to be a dream, right? And then a blinding white light appeared as a screen hovered in front of me.
