Chapter 1

Girl in the tower 

     The moonlight breeze brushed against her skin as she looked down. She heard screaming and watched as the entire village fell to their knees. She looked at the person on the ground and then looked at her hands. They were covered in blood. She picked up her sword her eyes filled with spite and hate then swung her sword. Her eyes opened. She gazed around and found herself within a tower. She sighs and covers her face. It was dark with some trickling light coming through the window. A slight knock at the door made her jump. "Yes?" A man walked in with a tray of breakfast with a cute flower in a vase. He had dark brown curly hair and brown eyes. "Your food," he said in an angered voice. She rolled her eyes and sat at the edge of her bed. "You know you could've been queen Diamond" he stares judgingly," now you're stuck here." She watches him as he moves across the room and sets down the tray of food.She sighs, "CJ… brother why do you insist on doing this? Don't you have better things to do?" He slams his fist into the wall. "You did this! You killed her and you think I'm overreacting," He pauses, catches his breath, and smirks. " I can't wait to see what you think your punishment will be" She turns away from him and he sighs. "Your little rebellion has caused a lot of questions, you know." She looks at him. " End the rebellion and I will let you come home." She says nothing and holds herself. "CJ I," he interrupts. "End it now or you'll share the same fate as her!" He looked at her like something had happened. He appeared as if he were hiding something from her, something she couldn't figure out. "Prince Christian" a knock interrupts them and they both look at the door. A man walks in, he has dirty blonde hair and vibrant green eyes. He dressed well and was the son of the highest Lord in the kingdom. "Lloyd!" Diamond smiled while CJ frowned. "What are you doing here?” CJ sounded confused. "Your mother has decided she's staying with the rest of the group for a long time." CJ froze speechless. He looked horrified. Lloyd stood there and smirked. You're next in line for the throne Prince, he pauses, King Christian.His face turned pale and he looked down. "Has everyone gone mad?! Did you forget what she has done!?" Lloyd looked at him and shushed him. "The rebellion is over and the punishment is at your mother's command." Diamond stood there and her brother looked at Lloyd. "She stays here," he rushes him out the door and slams the door behind him. Again she was alone.She sighed as she looked at the breakfast. She sighs and tosses the breakfast. “ Damn, he knows how to make a poisoned breakfast look good.”  She grabs the brush and starts brushing her hair.   She hears a faint knock on the door. “Come in,” she says disappointed. A lady walks in with a soft smile. She looked as beautiful as the leaves and her skin glowed like the sun. She wore a long red dress with gold flakes. Diamond took note of this. Diamond bowed, “Good morning Mother” The lady looked at Diamond and gave her a soft smile. “Darling, you know I love you very much.”  Diamond looked puzzled. The lady looked at her and frowned, “Please don't look at me like that. I hate when you look at me like that.” she pauses, “ Do you know about the rebellion?” She sounded stern. Her eyes pierced through Diamond's eyes. Diamond was taken aback and said, “What?”  The lady turns away and starts fixing little objects in the room. “ Let me ask you a better question. Who started the rebellion?” Diamond looks down at the floor and says nothing. The lady stops and looks at her. She sees that Diamond isn't looking up and sits on her bed. She pats the bed motioning Diamond to sit. Diamond sits next to her and the lady starts to speak,”  Diamond I know you didn't start this.I know your brother has been tough but, if you can't tell me I can't help you. Do you understand that?” Diamond sits there and nods her head. The lady sighs and stands up. She grabs Diamond's face and slams her into the bed. Diamond feels her nails press into her skin and her nose touching hers. She hears her screaming but her mind blanks as she sheds a single tear. The door at this moment slams open as a guard rushes in and whispers in her ear. The lady stops and huffs. “Darling we’ll have another meeting tomorrow ok?”  Diamond nods and leans up on the bed as the lady rushes out the door. She looks outside and hears arguing. She gets up and walks to the window to see Lloyd and her brother fighting outside the courthouse. She rolls her eyes and lays back in her bed. “ Great, this is what I need for people to blame me more.” Diamond lay in her bed and stared at the ceiling. As she goes to bed she remembers all the times with her sister Amber in the mountains. She reminisced about the life she had. She awakes to the sound of bangs on her door. She tenses up as she wonders who this person could be. The door flies open and she sees Lloyd. She immediately sighs in relief. “I bet you weren't executing me were you” he chuckles a little as Diamond looks at him confused. “What are you doing here?” Lloyd's smile fades away. “Your mother is persistent in finding the rebellion… she started to think you had help.” He pauses and looks at Diamond and notices the nail marks. “Why don't you just tell her the truth?” Diamond looks at his green eyes. She can tell that he is worried and says, “You know I can't see what she's doing to me. I know you do it all over your face.” He stares at her and then sits out the window of the tower. He hums a tune as Diamond stands behind him. “ Diamond, it's time for you to go.” Diamond looks at the floor and starts to cry. “But what about Amber?” Lloyd leans back. Lloyd always hated it when she cried. “Amber is coming too” Diamond stops crying and looks up at Lloyd. He's still leaning back on the window. Loyal gaze is at the moon and smiles, “Why are you got so much trouble sometimes! *sighs* tomorrow get dressed like usual you’re going to get out of here.” Sits on the windowsill next to Lloyd “What about CJ?” Lloyd looks at Diamond and sighs,” he’s gonna be more difficult. We’re just gonna have to break you out, don't worry your mom knows all about it.” There’s a knock at the door at this time they both jump and look at it walk in is CJ. “ Lloyd why won’t you just get out of here?” He and CJ frown and look him in the eyes, “Real get out of here. I need to talk to my sister.”Lloyd Throws his hands up., “Fine I’m leaving, but you can’t take me. We all saw that today.” CJ’s face starts getting hot and red. His anger starts to boil, and Lloyd continues to laugh at him off the window, and both of them.” OK, both of you get out you both are giving me a headache.” CJ looks at his sister in pure rage, raising his hands as Lloyd proceeds to catch it “You heard her she said to leave” CJ looks up purely to Lloyd and no rips away his arm from his hand. “I’ll see you tomorrow!” CJ leaves as Lloyd walks out behind him and shuts the door. Dumb finally gets a side relief. “Damn, they both are frustrating, sometimes, especially in the same room.” Diamond lays on the bed and looks at her and her sister. She wishes she could just live in the castle peacefully without any drama like there was before she thinks to herself this is CJ‘s fault why does he have to be so sometimes why can’t he just see the faults her mistakes, she rolls over and as the sun rises everything is prepared.

The Escape 

Amber arrives in the morning with the breakfast and wings at her place while CJ monitors them very strictly. Amber pokes fun at the fact that CJ has always been so serious. Everything was a blur for Diamond and just two hours. She was finally going to be free from the tower that kept her prisoner for so many years. CJ walks out with Amber talking about how they had a meeting to go to Diamond just stands they blinks. Lloyd gave him the signal that she was clear. Diamond finally pulls up her hair in a tight ponytail she jumps on the windowsill CJ interrupts and opens the door. She looks back at him with no emotion on her face as he’s screaming that she can’t do this to him. “ you deserve to be here you’re nothing you will always be nothing you think that you can just leave?!” Diamond looks back forward and jumps out the window. He chases after her and stops right when he gets to the windowsill for her to fly up. CJ stands back and is astonished. Her wings weren’t supposed to be healed for another two months when he started to pound himself. She healed quickly and told him about the healing progress. They said that she was still in critical condition from the fight. She pushes further up into the air, knocking him back from the wind of her wings. Diamond looks at him one more time and says,” No you don’t understand you think your little plan was gonna work out anyways you’re the only full.” She flies to the ground safely as Lloyd looks up and proceeds to wave. CJ screams in anger as they walk away. Lloyd looks at Diamond and says “Are you gonna be OK?” Diamond looks at him with a sigh of relief “I’m gonna be OK so where are we going anyways?” Lloyd pokes her tease,” When were you going to tell me that your wings were healed to begin with?” Blushes, hiding her wings within her dress almost looking camouflaged, “ I don’t always have to tell you everything you know plus what would make it more believable he would know something was up then wouldn’t he?” Lloyd laughs and punches her shoulder.

Roommates 

later that night they arrived at a small little cottage shut down in the Sandy mist of the desert. For the first time since she was a kid, she saw Aunty Marry who had traded her life from being a professional to teaching for the queen and also in the process getting one of the highest medals in history. She offered her a peace offering and thanked her for letting her stay. Marry looked at her and hugged her. “ Oh honey, you don’t have to say that to me. We all know what was going on with CJ and Siku.” Diamond's face turns red. “ But why would my mother not even listen to me? Why did I have to do what I did?” Marry gently presses on Diamond's back, moving her into the facility. “ CJ has a lot of power in the system and that power is not easily replaced. CJ has studied politics since he was 12 while you studied arts in fighting with me and remember it was his influence to get you to stop fighting because you were stronger than him.” Marry says teasingly Diamond is not amused as Marry laughs. “ I need to introduce you to the team.” Diamond Looks at her puzzled. “Team? What team? I thought I was just gonna stay here with you.” Marry laughs at her. “ Did Lloyd not tell you you were joining the team with us?” Lloyd starts to whistle and tries to walk away. Marry grabbed him by the shoulder. “ Lloyd, did you not relay the information?” Lloyd stutters for a minute and says, “ I truly did mean to, but I thought she would like a couple days” Marry sighs and bonks him on the head. “ I swear you’re just like your father every day I teach you.” Diamond laughs at both of them. “ of course I’ll join the team Aunty” Mary looks relieved, “Your mother did want you to join the team so you can start helping around the special forces.They were supposed to be your team but you know?” Diamond frowned. Marry cleared her throat seeing that this hit deep for Diamond carrying on she said “This is what the academy is all about to help all of you  into battle.” She looks and sees four boys and two girls walk down the stairs. “ Diamond, I want you to meet the team.” Diamond introduces herself. They all look at her kind of funny until one of the girls says, “Aren’t you the princess that has been locked away forever now?” Diamond freezes not knowing what to say as she opens her mouth the girl looks at her and says, “ no I’m just playing with you. I just hope that your attitude doesn’t mess up our dynamic. My name is Carly by the way.” Diamond shakes her hand. Carly smiles politely at her and says, “Let me just tell you the guys here are freaks, the muscular guy over there His name is Cole, and of course you know Lloyd, flame head over there is Nate, we have our tech master Zayne and Waterboy over there is Jay. And then we have our lovely Mia over here. She’s an ice master who always figures out how to freeze everything. Mia blushes and grabs Carly’s hand. Mia starts to whisper and her ear grabs diamonds hands,” I’m really glad that they brought you and Amber on the team. We were missing a bunch of girls. Now we can go five against five. Aunty Marry claps her hand, “ y’all have a busy day tomorrow training don’t forget we have missions at the end of the week to which Diamond and Amber both will be going with you.” “Yes ma’am,” they all say as they start heading towards their rooms. As Diamond gets situated she sees Amber and gives her a huge hug, “ I’m really glad that you’re doing this with me. I don’t know what I’m gonna do without you.” Amber hugs her back and starts to cry a little. “ we’re gonna be roommates again and we’re gonna kick butt” Carly laughs “ Girl your like 14 the only butts you’re gonna be kicking is the weights in the exercise room. We both know I’ve been kicking your butt this far” Amber shakes them as they laugh at her and Diamond chuckles. She thinks to herself yeah I’m gonna like it here. In the morning they start to train. The guys were on one side of the court and were teaming with the girls on the other side. Mary blows the whistle. “ OK, today we are doing a team battle for the next mission. It’s going to be a girl versus boys now that we’re all even, Diamond since you’re new I want you to fall in the back, and Carly you, and Mia take the front. For the guys Nate and Zayne's defense, Jay and Cole front start strategizing now you have five minutes your goal is to take the Diamond from the other side.” They all start the group puddle trying to figure out what they are gonna do. as Carly and  Amber start arguing about how they should do it. Diamond looks at both of them and says, “ why don’t we just use wind to kind of carry it over?” Carly and Amber stop and laugh. Carly jokes and says, “ what are you gonna do? Blow them away?” Diamond turns red from embarrassment. Maybe she didn’t know how to fight like them, but she has strategized in many wars before so this shouldn’t be too hard. They would hate her if they ever found out what she did so she stood in the back and just kind of let them do their thing, Mary cut them off and said, “All right enough everyone get your places” The guys looked so confident in their plan that they take a step back. She’s thinking about how she has to prove herself to all these people that she can do this. “Go” Jay and Cole immediately take Cole throwing boulders at them and using the water to try to slip them up. They immediately knock Mia out of the competition. Diamond steps back just in time and pushes a bigger breeze, knocking Jay back in the water as well, gets up to breathe and starts to laugh, “Wow what the first time that’s ever happened to me” Mia helps Jay out of the water and gives him a towel. You should never underestimate someone who has greater power than you even if you are a master. Amber looks back at Diamond and winks. Diamond smirks at her as she gushes a big burst of wind with Amber. It was like they were almost in sync. Carly pauses and watches both of them. It’s almost like they were doing this their whole lives.Lloyd looks up from the clipboard as he stands next to Aunt Marry and says to her, “ I told you she had a couple of things up her sleeve. She and Amber have been studying this movie since they were kids. It’s almost like they have fun doing it.” Marry looks forward and doesn’t say anything. Lloyd pipes down and just continues to watch them move as they continue to knock the guys out of the rink. The last one standing was Cole as he stood there with a firm grip on his scythe. He strikes it on the ground as a bunch of earth starts rising, trying to catch them off guard. Amber signals to Diamond and says you can fly over. As she releases her wings to rise over Cole gets frustrated and says how is this fair Auntie you never told us that she had wings isn’t this an unfair advantage, Mary just looks at both of them. Diamond kicks one of his borders back at him, completely knocking him out of the competition. As Diamond flies down to the ground,  Amber yells, “WE DID IT” Diamond stands there still not moving much Carly says, “ Let’s go“, but Amber won’t. Carly coughs Amber finally lets go and blushes. Marry claps her hands and says well done ladies your first win. Mary looks at Diamond and says you have a great potential young lady, start training more like this and you’ll be a master in no time. Diamond says thank you and proceeds to go and change. When Diamond looked at her wardrobe there was nothing. Amber Pulled out a big suitcase, “Here, Sis some of your stuff” Diamond had stars in her eyes like it was the best thing that her sister’s ever done in her life ” Gosh you’re so amazing.” Marry walks into the room and everything goes silent. She says to the ladies, “Good job today ladies but I need to speak with Diamond alone for a minute. All of them proceeded to leave the room a pat her on the back telling her that she did a good job, Mary shut the door behind them and said “You didn’t do bad out there kid. Where did you learn how to use wind magic like this?” Diamond shrugs, “I guess it was just kind of a thing that I did. It’s not like I purposely meant to do it and I’m not supposed to use one like that” Mary smiles very softly, “Oh darling, you have more magic potential than I’ve ever seen in any of my students well except for Lloyd and Cole they both very close but don’t get on his bad side. He gets very jealous easily so far” Diamond stood there looking at the clothes her sister packed dang they’re all a little too small for me now I’ve grown a bunch. She thinks to herself Mary claps and she comes back to reality. “I’m sorry I like it so far. It’s a bigger upgrade than the castle. At least I get to socialize out here even if people aren’t nice to me. I think Carly thinks I’m a brat.” Mary says to her “Honey that’s just how Carly is sometimes. You know she also comes from a very prominent family. I think he just reminded her of herself” Diamond sighs in relief. “You know I didn’t see Carly fight today. What is her magic ability anyways? ”she has a technique called crystal manipulation where she can extract energy from the crystal and turn it into pure magic. As you know, Cole is your earth. Master.  Nate can manipulate fire. Jay has water manipulation and Mia has ice manipulation. Jay and Mia have yet to master their skills, but we’re still working on them.” Diamond put on some clothes that fit her a little too tight. Mary looks at her last two, “Don’t you have any close darling?” Diamond shakes her head No. She looks at the ground Mary stops laughing and grabs a cloak that’s from one of her closets. It’s dark purple and has a black diamond in it. Here take this Diamond looks at the cloak as she walks it into a place, this thing is so cool. I’m not gonna lie. I can even put the hood up on it. Marry smiles, imma send the girls in yall setting in”  Marry steps out of the room as all the girls have their ears pressing against the wall. She looks at them and says “Hey don’t you guys have anything better to do today? Aren’t you guys on kitchen duty?“ They all start to scram to the kitchen. Mary shakes her head and walks the other way as Diamond follows them to the kitchen. She bumps into Cole on her way and he looks at her. He gives her a death glare and says, “What’s up with you? You have a crazy amount of magic energy all around you. Are you some kind of freak or something?” Diamond looks at him and smiles, “You know I’d rather be a freak than somebody who gets beaten by a girl” Cole frozen. To him, this was an insult. Who was this girl? He was a master and he needed to show her who's boss. “is that a challenge? Do you think you’re stronger than me or something?” Diamond stops to think. “Yeah, I do think I am.” Cole is boiling at this point. “We can put that up to the test tomorrow. I’m gonna let no princess take away my thunder.” Diamond smirks and leans towards him “I would love to see that happen” Diamond brushes past him and goes to the kitchen with the ladies Carly waves at her, “Hey girl we’re over here “ Diamond smiles at them and walks over to them. Still, a little flustered from the conversation with Cole Carly looks at her and says." What's with your face? you look upset or something. Did something happen?” Diamond starts off thinking about the conversation, finally, someone she could compete with other than her brother. “Hello world to Diamond” Carly says waving her hand in her face Diamond finally snaps out of it and says, ” Huh “ Carly looks at her and says "Do you have a crush on someone?” completely denying and waving her hands “absolutely not why would I ever have a crush? I don’t even know anyone” she puts her hands over her face and embarrassment as Carly laughs Mia says ”I bet it’s Cole. He keeps looking at her very weirdly. Maybe they have something going on.” Carly starts teasing Diamond even more. Diamond tries to deny and explains what happened  Carly is shocked and says “Wow that is so completely unlike him.” She says it’s super sarcastic and looks at Amber. “ Girl shut up you know that’s exactly like him ALL the time he thinks he’s better than everyone.” Diamond Laughs at all of them. ”You guys are crazy. He doesn’t like me like that. Besides, we met each other for one day. Maybe he’s just jealous 'cause I beat him.” Carly starts to prepare some food and looks at Diamond getting her to Pitchin. Diamond smiles… yeah imma fit right in here.

At the castle 

CJ storms right into the throne room,” How dare you, Mother how could you do this to me? Do you not understand the gravity of the war that she has caused for our kingdom and you’re just going to put her into some military school?” Queen Claire just sits there as her apprentice Henry stands there in shock. Henry scolds him “Do you have any idea how hard it was to cover up your mess if you wanna talk about anything, let’s talk about you. You’re an ungrateful prince who has used his privilege to try to steal the crown from your mother, causing her to get sick.” Queen Claire stands up “That’s enough, Henry” She looks down at CJ as he takes a step back. She turns him around and gently pushes him holding her hand on his back. “Come let’s take a walk” She shut the doors to the throne room as they walked into the hallway CJ holding his posture, remembering that he had learned from etiquette school. He knows not to be this angry at his mother. His mother was the one who gave him this position after all, she just stood there calmly as he stood next to her, shaking with fear she’s never stood that tall before he thinks to himself. Queen Claire looks down at him and says,” What a beautiful night we’re having. Do you know what causes the stars on the moon to line the way that they do?” CJ walks With her silently, not saying a word. Queen Claire looks at him, “Are you not gonna answer me or are you still very upset that your sister went to what you call a military school” CJ responded with an attitude,” Because she is in military school. She’s not learning anything.” She stops and pulls his hair knocking him to the floor. “ You ungrateful brat you’re lucky. I didn’t kill that fiancé of yours myself knowing what you both had planned you both are despicable. I gave you a chance and you threw it in my face. Do you know how hard it was to make sure that they didn’t know what the secret was and how the prophecy would turn out?” CJ wipes his mouth. “ Is the prophecy that bad? Why didn’t we just kill our problem, to begin with?” Claire stands there glaring at him. “ you know exactly why your father ran off because he was a despicable husband who left me with two kids, one a murderer and two and an ungrateful brat so who thinks that power is going to give him everything, well a new flash it’s not. All your power relies on my hand and putting you into these positions you haven't even studied your true magic from my side of the family while your sister had already mastered it since she was 4. Amber has mastered her magic since she was six so what’s your excuse? Are you gonna tell me that your sister is more capable than you are? I get that I had hidden your true potential, but you have to understand it was for a good cause. You have the magic of Mother Nature on your side” CJ leans Against the wall he doesn’t say anything. He knows what his mother is saying is true but, why doesn’t she understand that she isn’t the only one who is powerful she’s describing her like a God, but she’s nothing. She murders people in vain. “ You wouldn’t be acting like this if Dad was here.” Claire stops dead in her tracks as CJ returns to his room. He was ready to destroy Diamond's life, even if it meant destroying his own in the process. Diamond was never going to underestimate him again.

Back at the academy  

After training the next morning Zayne was working on a project. Amber sat next to him and poked him “What are you doing?” Zayne says as he uses electricity to start up an intervention that he has made. “ I’m making some more weapons for the mission requested from Auntie. Amber looks in aww “Can I try it?” Zayne looks up and down at Amber. Ha pats them on the head and says, “You promised to be careful this time you electrocuted yourself last time you touched one of my gadgets” Amber shakes her head as Zayne hands the gadget over. “ Now Amber, I need you to be super careful with this. It’s called electro hand. Basically what you do is put on the glove and you use your magic to shoot bolts of electricity through your opponent and immediately knock them out. You also do other things like shoot out electricity towards your opponent, but the best way to do it is by physical contact.” Amber says this?” as she perceives touching Zayne with the glove completely shocking him laying him on the floor and knocking him out. Amber Freaks out as Diamond and Carly walk into the room. Diamond says what’s going on? She sees Zayne lying on the floor Carly faces Ponds and says ” Again Amber you gotta learn how to stop shocking people.”  Amber cries and says ” It’s not my fault I can barely control my magic. It seems like I’m learning something new every day” Nate laughs in the hallway, Amber, “you know better than to be touching anyone with gadgets. Remember what Auntie said last time she said no more.” Amber looks down and disappointed and Diamond hugs her. It’s OK little sis. Zayne will be alright.” Carly rolls her eyes as she proceeds to take out an opal. She squeezes the opal tight with her other hand. She touches Zayne’s forehead, a bright light flashes upon the room, and Zayne wakes up. He gasps for air and immediately looks at Amber “This isn’t your fault. It’s mine. I should’ve never even let you touch it. Please don’t cry.” Amber Stops crying and hugs, Zsyne. “ oh Zayne,  I’m so sorry you’re my favorite” Zayne looks unenthused as he pushes Amber off her. “ OK Amber we get it you’re sorry but I told you to be careful so next time just be careful.” as she skips out of the room, she meets up with Nate too, and they go off into the garden. Diamond points at Amber and Nate and says, “What’s their deal?” Carly teases Diamond “They’re so in love” Diamond looks at the know where they are sitting and Amber starts to flirt horribly she cringes and looks away from the window. “Yeah, it looks like it.” Carly starts to laugh and asks” So what about you and Cole?” Diamond blushes, “what do you mean? What about me and Cole?” Carly shrugs. I don't know. It seems like you are getting closer. You seem to be exercising every day together this week. You guys are gonna be great for the mission. Diamond denies it and says, “ I’m trying to make a point he thinks he’s better, but if we can just knock him down to Peg, he’ll leave us alone a little bit” Mia looks at Carly and gives her a strange look. Diamond picks up on it and says “What’s up?” Carly says,” It’s nothing you know he never really started acting like this until you started coming around. You getting him out of his shell.” Diamond chuckles at them and Cole knocks on their door. “Yo Rosie cmon said we were gonna beat me let me see what you got. Diamond sits up and says,” Let’s go then” Carly and Mia follow them up to the courtyard sitting on the benches as diamond and Cole start to stretch he starts to judge her for not having a weapon. “ how do you even fight without a weapon?” She holds her hands out in front of her and says you’ll see.” “Hmmm, but no wing business it’s not fair for business UK?” Diamond nods in understanding Carly steps out in the middle of the field, explaining the rules. “ all right if you too really want to do this me and Mia am going to be your guide judge just so y’all can have an outside perspective, you know” she winks at diamond “ said earlier it would be a little bit more fair if you didn’t use your wings so we’re just gonna tie them behind your back” grabs a rope and proceeds behind your back tight. Just a few tight screeches are necessary to put rope. Looks at her and says yes yes it is all right. You guys will start in 3… 2… 1 go. Cole pops off with his first attack. He sends Diamond flying back, she catches her footing and says, is that all you got?” Cole smirks and stomps on the ground. She feels everything vibrate as she feels the floor beneath her start to crumble. She grabs onto the side and pulls herself up another boulder. She ducks back down from the side.
