Quest for the Silver Bike

QUEST FOR THE SILVER BIKE

Toshie was surrounded by the murderous bikers, with their second in command coming at him with his weapon raised. He did the only thing he could think of and took a fighting stance, raising his fists in front of him.

Steel Crow swung the crowbar down but before Toshie could respond, someone else did it in his stead. Machete-Killer grabbed onto Steel Crow’s arm, stopping the deadly trajectory of the crowbar.

“Wh-What are you doing?” Steel Crow looked at him in confusion.

“What are you doing?” Machete-Killer said. “You can’t attack the gang’s second in command.”

It took sometime for the meaning of Machete-Killer’s words to register in both teenager’s brains. “WHAT?” Toshie and Steel Crow said.

“But I won!” Steel Crow said. “I won! He should die!”

“Yes, you would have won… if it was a foot race.” Machete-Killer said. “The kid crossed the finish line on his bike, which makes him the winner of the bike race and the second in command of the Machete Bike Gang and you, the gang’s whelp.”

“Bullshit!” Steel Crow shouted.

This earned him a throw, which Machete-Killer executed with his grasp on his crowbar arm. Crow crashed into a bar table, alcohol spilling onto him.

Machete-Killer turned to Toshie, “Welcome to the gang.”

Toshie exited the bar, the sound of loud music and the stink of whatever smoke and drink the gang was partaking in following him behind. He needed to get into fresh air, and away from the gang members who looked at him with disgust when he told them he neither drank nor smoked.

He looked the side to see three men around Grey Donkey. It seemed they were fixing the scrap on wheels up.

“They’re giving her a tune up,” Machete-Killer stepped beside him, his smiling eyes hidden behind his black shades. “You’re gonna need her running at her best for tonight, Killer Pink.”

Toshie nodded then stopped. “Killer Pink?”

“Yes, that is your true name.” Machete-Killer said. “Everyone gets a true name once they join the gang.”

Toshie sighed. “Why couldn’t I have woken up in blue?”

The gang was riding through the street. When Toshie found his knack for riding the bike, he began to enjoy it. He rode up beside Machete-Killer, who gave him a few tips and tricks in between locking lips with Barbed Nails, who rode with him. Toshie smiled, as the wind blew his hair.

The gang leader smiled at him. “You remind me of when I got my first bike, Killer Pink.”

“This is fun!” Toshie said.

“It’s about to get better,” Machete-Killer said, as he put on his helmet, hiding his face behind the black visor.

Toshie was confused and looked forward, where a truck with the logo of a tin of tuna on the side came up.

“Hold up, Pink.” Machete-Killer’s voice, which came from his helmet said.

He did as he was told, slowing his bike and falling behind Machete-Killer’s. He was shocked when another bike came up beside Machete-Killer’s other side and handed Barbed Nail a bazooka!

“W-W-Wait, if you guys want tuna, I can get it for you!” Toshie quickly said as Barbed Nail took aim at the truck. “There’s no need for this.”

She winked at him before firing the bazooka. A missile sped out, propelled by a purple flame before striking the truck. Instead of a huge explosion there was a pulse of purple energy and the truck shut down.

Toshie and the gang stopped. The other gang members ensuring that they surrounded the dead truck.

“Why are we hijacking a tuna delivery truck?” Toshie said as he got off his bike.

“It’s not a tuna delivery truck.” Machete said.

The truck shimmered, its image blurring in a rippling away, leaving behind a big, black armoured truck.

“What’s going on?” Toshie said in confusion.

“Holographic tech,” Machete-Killer simply as a group of gangs set up another weapon beside him.

“Is that another bazooka?” Toshie said, looking at the heavy looking item.

“I prefer mini-cannon.” Barbed Nail said. “It’s an old school weapon.”

The gang members poured a black substance into the barrel of the miniature cannon. While they were doing this, the other gang members were tearing the drones apart, keeping the small rockets for themselves and taking a part any other parts they believed might be of use.

“Bazookas. Mini-cannons. Is this a thing with the Machete Bike Gang?” Toshie said. “I mean, where are the machetes?”

Machete Killer withdrew a machete and twirled it with a smirk.

“I had to ask.”

The group of gang members took aim and pulled the trigger. A giant cannonball shot out and punched a giant hole into the back of the armoured vehicle.

The gang gatheres around the hole in the truck wedging a crank in and using it in an attempt to pry the doors open. Machete-Killer, impatient with their efforts, joined in, almost single-handedly using the crank to pry the steel doors of the armoured truck apart.

Machete-Killer and Toshie walked into the truck with its screens and keyboards, now rendered useless. Machete-Killer whistled in wonder at the vehicle before them. A small sleek silver bike.

“It’s is beautiful.” He traced the curves of the bike with his hand. “Powered by the mysterious X Energy and can go from zero to hundred in 4 seconds.”

“It is,” even Toshie who was a novice with motorcycles had to agree. “But why…”

“Get away from it.”

Toshie yelped at the voice, taking a fighting stance by instinct. There was a bespectacled man clad in black modern armour that camouflaged him in the shadows he sat in.

“Who the hell are you?” Machete-Killer said.

“My name is Tomi, CEO and founder of Tomi Technologies.” The man said.

“You’re not going to try and stop us?” Machete-Killer said in amusement. Ï get it. You’re frozen in fear. Don’t worry, I understand. We won’t even laugh if you piss your pants now.”

“I am not afraid to stop you, it simply is not in my power to do so now,” the man calmly said, moving only his head to look at them. “That weapon you used to shut my technology down, what was it?”

“An EMP bomb,” Machete-Killer said, turning his attention to the motorcycle.

“Do not lie to me. My technology is powered by X-Eneergy which is immune EMP pulses. That was not an EMP bomb. So what was it?”

Machete-Killer shrugged. “Don’t really know but I’ll be taking this now. The fastest bike ever created. I definitely need to try it out before I deliver it.” He said while running his hand over the curves of its silver body.

“You take it out,” Barbed Nail said. “Me and the boys will make sure we salvage everything of value in here.”

More of the gang members entered the truck, beginning the process of disassembling it as Machete-Killer wheeled the bike out. The gang members worked around Tomi, who just stared at them calmly. Toshie felt guilty for stealing from the man and decided that he would have stern words with Niko about the situation she put him in.

Toshie hopped out of the truck where Machete had already transported the motorcycle. He looked around bikers were disassembling the truck.

A moment later, the silver bike hummed to life. Machete tilted his head in wonder.

“That’s strange, the power came back a minute earlier than expected.”

“Is that a problem?” Toshie asked in fear.

Machete-Killer shook his head. “It shouldn’t.”

Toshie heard another sound. He realised that the truck was also humming as it had regained its power too. There was a loud boom from the truck and bodies flew out. They looked back to see Tomi walk from the hole in his truck holding Barbed Nail from the ground by her neck.

Tomi glared at the assembled gang members, “Seems I now have the power to stop you.”
