Hell: Dawn of War
Heralds of Hell

Heralds of Hell

The sounds of energy beams being shot out from their projectors and those of the dying and the wounded filled the air of the battle field with a morbid atmosphere, the army of Heaven has been sent down to secure the Molten Shores, one of the key positions in their campaign against the hordes of Hell. For miles, the corpses of human, angels, demons and their war beast pile up into huge mountain and yet the two factions still run at each other with a frenzy that's matched only by that of cornered animals. Among the chaos, a large shadow looms, slashing angels and human alike, his hair, once green of color, now covered with patches of dried blood of his enemies, his remaining left eye burns with hatred and almost desperation. The demonic commander raises his head, gazing into the darkened, thundering sky, but it was not thunder, somewhere in those clouds, his flag ship and its escorts is struggling with the barricades, somehow the enemies have gained the knowledge about his plan, they have set up barricades, preventing his fleets from supporting from the air, not only that, the two capital ships that departed to flank their enemies are no where to be found.

"Damn it!" The demon curses, tightened his grip on the obsidian blade in his hand. And, with a reluctant tone, the commander of the 10th Legion gave an order that even he didn't think that he would have to give. "FALL BACK!!!"

The demons troops startled, never before has they heard THAT command come out of their leader's mouth. They froze, lowering their weapons, and their guard.

As if irritated by the freezing of his troops, the commander punches a demon across its face, his crimson eye flares up as he saw the others began to move. Again, he yelled that blasted command, this time in demon tongue and turns to face the front line. Rain drops began to fall, one after another, until everything is covered in a greyish white sheet of falling water. The demon drops his cape, letting the white shower wash away the ashes and blood that stuck on his black armor. He inhaled and let out a small sigh, his eye narrowed, trying to focus on the hulking armored figured with glowing wings that seem blurred by the rain. Behind the figure, other shadows, smaller, weaker ones, follow closely.

"Tch. Human and angels." The demon said, his lips curled up, revealing an annoyed grin. "Why can't you let us be?"

"You know exactly why, demon." The hulking figure replied. "Surrender now and I'll let you die a warrior death."

To the angel's surprise, the commander's grin turned into a small smile. Although his expression has not changed, his enemy can see in his remaining eye, just below the remaining brown, slightly curved horn of his, the eye of a beast, this one will not bow. Then with a calm voice, the demon replied: "I intend to die a warrior death, angels. But not today."

"Approaching Molten Shores, ETA 15' commander."

"Good." The commander replied, his white feline tail twitches around impatiently, he can't wait to dig his scythe into the flesh of their enemies, his enemies. However, he can't relax, not now, not here, because accompanying him is the 15th Legion, their leader and him don't usually see eyes to eyes, but if their Highlord instructed, they must follow.

"Commander, we receive transmission from the Highlord." A pilot said.

"Show it." The commander of the 13th Legion said, before him, a hologram screen opens, his amber eyes watch as the image of their Highlord appears.

"Nihlus." the Highlord said. "I hope you know how important this mission is to us."

"Yes Highlord, I know." Nihlus said as he roll his eyes, he doesn't like to be outside when it's storming, much less to fight.

"Nihlus, I know you have some issues with Cedric, but we can't just let Akarek die out there." The Highlord said, he sighed and slightly close his eyes. "Look, just help them out and stick to whatever stratergy Akarek comes out with. I'll make sure you'll get your reward."

With that, the hologram closes, and not a moment too soon, the fleet has reached the barricades where the 10th Legion flag ship is struggling. Flock of enslaved eagles of the angels are wrestling with fel bats and wyverns while the flag ship itself is struggling with the bombardment from two angelic war ship. On the ground, the 10th Legion has been pushed to the shore lines, they are out numbered five to one, their leader, Akarek "Brokenhorn" Apocrypha is no where to be seen.

Nihlus watched as the flag ship of the 10th Legion is harassed by constant attacks from enemy ships, not noticing that some of the angels' forces have spitted from the main force and are attacking his forces. With a straight face and a study voice, Nihlus commands the fleet to unleash their wrath. Balls of fel fire launched as the angelic ships, giving the flag ship precious time to commence its own fierce attacks. Nihlus watch the gigantic demonic ship, almost twice the size of his ship, brought hell upon angels' forces, in the history of Hell, few ships were made this big and this dangerous, they were used as the spearhead of Hell in the attacks against their enemies.

"Captain, damage report." Nihlus said to the captain of the ship.

"The flag ship is not severely damaged, engine number 4 and 7 are malfunctioned but the ship will survive." The captain said, seeking some approval from her Commander yet received none.

"Good." Nihlus said with a cold face, almost devoid of any emotion. "Prepare portal generators and drop pots, I want all of our fighting forces to assist the 10th Legion. Where is 13th Legion? Get their leader online ASAP."

"Sir, their supporting forces have began cleaning landing sites, we should focus our attack on the flanks."

"Negative." Nihlus said. "We open a path for the 10th and 15th Legion and rendezvous with them on the ground, when we're on the ground, I want a search party for 10th Legion's commander Akarek..."

"That would be unnecessary." The familiar voice struck Nihlus' ears and made him rub his forehead.

In a quarter of a second, the hologram screen appears, with it, the image of the pale faced demon with a huge X shape scar on his right eye, his right horn is broken near the base and his hair is green with patches of blood still stuck in it. Akarek's crimson left eye look at Nihlus, his face appears to be emotionless but Nihlus knows all too well this demon is not what he seems.

"What took you so long?" Akarek asked with an almost emotionless voice.

"Rescuing your remaining forces' sorry bums." Nihlus repplied with an annoyed frown.

"Excelent." A flinch of joy appears in Akarek's crimson eye, his lips corners curled up slighty, forming a small smile.

"So, any plan?" Nihlus asked.

"Bring your troops to the eastern and western side of the coast." Akarek said. "The angels have form barricades there and my forces here are not enough to clear both of them."

"Are you serious Pup?" Nihlus raised his eyebrown in suspicion. "You got Cedric there with you, surely you can clean it yourself."

"Don't talk to me like you know this, Kitty." Akarek repplied. "If you want to be back soon, you better stick to my plan, I just need you to hold the line and keep them from flanking us while we try to nuke their holy pillar."

"Fiiiiinnnneeeee...." Nihlus replied with a sigh of boredom as Akarek chuckles, the commander of the 13th Legion raises his feline ears and look at his green haired friend and asked: "WHAT?!"

"Nothing." Akarek chuckled and closed the hologram, leaving Nihlus on his ship, wondering about what Akarek was chuckling about.
