Chapter 36: Pharaoh

Chapter 36: Pharaoh

Every second brought more excruciating pain. His skin was literally on fire. He felt the urge to scream but he held it in. Even worse was the life energy in the surrounding fire was still equivalent to one hundred years, which was basically impossible. Hán Amuru was found to have one hundred years during the screening, in other words, his total life energy should be one hundred. After using the six spheres ealier, his life energy should have dropped. And yet, it was still one hundred. That would mean either Amuru was above one hundred years or he was regenerating his energy at an absurd rate. Both possibilities ended with him in the grave.

A special sword for a special occasion.

"Dance of Uncertainty!" Armad chanted.

You have activated Dance of Uncertainty for 30 life energy.

Warning: You are currently under the restraints of Gates of Old Hell, you can't use your Sword unless you are a meter away from the fire.

"Really? Well, I have something else in reserve."

"Lightning Flash!" He chanted.

All acceleration spells are nullified by the Gates of Old Hell.

"Dammit, so that spell isn't all about flames."

The Dance and the Lightning Flash had consumed his life energy but they didn't activate. That was like adding pepper to the wound.

The smoke from the fire suffocated him. His body was tired, he wanted to close his eyes and sleep, but that wasn't possible. The moment he closed his eyes would be the moment he died. Armad focused his attention, looking for any openings and debating his next course of action.

He created thirty eight bolts of lightning, each bolt thirty centimeters in diameter. If you saw him from a distance, you would see a young man clad in white robes standing in the middle of lightning bolts like a lone cloud. Each bolt released a powerful energy that was far greater than its size. The audience wouldn't easily forget Armad and his blinding bolts.

He lunged forward, ignoring the ever burning flame surrounding him. Twenty lightning bolts coalesced in one place and formed a giant fist of lightning. The fist hit the sphere like an axe, trying to break through. But the fire burned increasingly hot. Lightning against fire: electric fury against flame rage.

The audience couldn't see what was happening behind the flame but they could easily feel the energy. Most of them wallowed in awe. What they didn't know was Armad was vomiting mouthfuls of blood inside. He barely stood on his legs as it appeared his lightning was inferior to Amuru's flame. There was a difference of longevity as well. The difference between someone with one hundred years and someone with sixty was a big margin. Armad would have fallen already if it weren't for his determination and willingness to sacrifice everything.

He walked one step at a time, vomiting mouthfuls of blood every step. He just wanted to get close, close enough to use his trump.

Hán Amuru smiled wickedly. "You know what's even more marvelous than the scream of a man on fire? It's the look on your face now - the look of a man just before he gets the taste of a flame. I know I should just end your suffering, but that would end the fun, prematurely. Haha..." He laughed. The laughter was muffled by the wall of flame and the audience only heard distant growl.

"I really need to burn things more often." Amuru said with a wild excitation that bordered on mania. He made another hand gesture to summon another fire ball. "Uh oh, Come closer, I'll spice things up."

Dammit, he still has the energy to create that. Armad cursed internally. He would be a goner if he got hit by that fireball, even his ashes wouldn't be found.

In a final desperate attempt, Armad summomed all his energy to create a five millimeter bolt of lightning and fired it at Amuru.

Amuru clenched his fist and jaw in a tantrum. "Are you trying to disgrace me in front of the world? You think a five millimeter bolt can take me down?"

Amuru allowed the bolt to hit his chest directly. Not even a bruise.

"I'll burn you and your entire family and friends down to ashes."

"Not my family." Armad said.

"What did you say?"

"I said, NOT MY FAMILY."

"So you still have some will left, huh? Let's see how long it will take to shut you up. Because *cough* you are nothing... *cough* *cough*" Han Amuru swallowed his words and narrowed his eyes in shock. He looked at his chest to see a carefully sewn enchantment card.

"Pharaoh...? When did you... no, no, it can't be." He shook his head and glared at Armad with an unyielding gaze. "This can't happen. I will not allow it. You dare use this thing on me? I'll get my revenge. I'll hunt you down for all eternity."

Suddenly, the dome of fire surrounding the ring and the fire ball in Amuru's hand disappeared. His energy drained completely and he fell on his knees, barely conscious.

Everyone was shocked. Nobody saw what happened - well, almost nobody.

"Pharaoh! There's no doubt about it, it's Pharaoh. Armad the dark horse has just used an enchantment worth millions to seal the prince's Djinn. Pharaoh is the only known enchantment that can seal a Djinn and prevent Djinn Masters from using their powers. How did this young man found something so rare? This is the second time I have ever seen it in action."

Ghalee explained how impossible it was for Armad to have an enchantment like Pharaoh.

With Hán Amuru lying flat on the ground, Armad was the obvious winner. But the audience were more interested in how Armad got the Pharaoh than the winning.

Another surprise was how the health personnel ignored Hán Amuru and took Armad to the medical bay. He had won but he had sustained more injuries than Amuru, who was just waiting for the effects of the enchantment to wear off. He didn't even have a single bruise.

The whistle was blown for the next match. It was time for prince Déniz Bizaya and Tyren of the rebellion to fight. How would the battle-maniac Bizaya fare against the avenger?

Armad would be watching the match from the medical bay as he waited for the final. Speaking of the medical bay, the first thing Armad saw was Aish and prince Niyashi locked in a heated argument.

"You can't possibly be serious." Niyashi said.

"I am serious." Aish said with a nod.

Aish and prince Niyashi?! Armad repeated the words in his head. He just couldn't believe his eyes. Aish had never mentioned Niyashi, not even once. So, maybe the guy broke her heart... No, no. Armad shook his head. She was ninety-six and Niyashi was at most eighteen, an old friendship was unlikely.

"So, what is going on?"
