Imperial Court

I quickly adjusted my coat, and Narcante quickly double checked that I looked decent then rapped on the door handle, the signal for the waiting manservant in my retenue whose sol job was to open doors for me, and make my entering and exits of places as smooth, and repectible as possible. As protocal dictated Narcante stepped out first to present me to court, and also sheild me from any would be assassins, and make sure the coast was clear. Now dear reader, I know what is on your mind. Why does a servant need to make sure a area is safe when hjs master is as powerful as me, and he is in the heart of the empire surrounded by guards? Well, I was not as powerful then as I am today you see, back then my magic was still a secret, and I only knew the most spells. I was almost exclusivly all potential, and raw power, but not trained enough to take on a skilled assassin, or vast armies like I do today. Now your thinking well didn't you have guards, and well you see they were nothing more than thugs supposedly for my families protection, but were really our jailors, and with all my enemies at court at the time, I was rightfully worried they would turn a blind eye to any assassan, hell I wouldn't have been suprised if they had just turned and attacked me. Anyway I got off topic, lets get back to the story at hand. Next I stepped out in all my finary, was announced by Narcante. Only the Nobles of the senate got heralded, and the Emporer himself, though he only got announced after all the Senators, nobles low and high, and pretty much anyone else who was even slightly worthy of being heralded. It made my blood boyal in rage. Gliding up the steps, I took my place behind my brother Dredi, while Narcante disapeared to along the wall with the other servants. Looking back I saw my sister, gracefully step out of her carridge, be announced and take her place behind me.
