'I am as you made me...I am me and before me, there was also me...will the cycle ever end?...the chains are now part of me'

They didn't even bother putting up much of a fight some ran back to the palace to report it while majority scattered.

Quite a distance in front of the soldiers Xan saw the figure of a man running for his life with a little girl under his arm but all he did was laugh.

Since all the soldiers had scattered there were no more obstacles obstructing their path they just walked right into the palace with Darius leading the way into the castle, they went to a few different places in the palace before they finally decided to go to the throne room.

When they walked in the first thing they saw was a headless body on the ground with a few hundred gold coins sprinkle all over the body.

"Old man it's been a while"

Xan didn't even bother stepping over the body, in fact, he purposely stepped on it hard to the point where a few of the guards were covered in blood but he didn't spare them a glance.

When the good-looking old man turned around and saw the person calling out to him he couldn't help but smile.

"Xan, I never thought you'd be here so soon"

When the old man turned around if any of the population had seen him they would realize that he and the king looked very similar even there multi-colored eyes were the same.

"Heh I never planned on coming to this shit fest but the bastard sent a royal decree so if I didn't come it would look like I was revolting, I thought it would just be some celebration for his brat but looks like he wasn't that stupid and saw you coming"

"Hahaha you shouldn't speak ill of the dead beside everything aside he was my brother no matter what"

"And that will be your burden to bare your name will go down in the annals of history......as a madman who killed his brother for power"

The handsome old man smiled a cold gleam flashed across his eyes as he replied a matter of factly.

"And yours will be right alongside mine for not informing your king of my betrayal as well as seizing the opportunity to kill me now, no matter how many guards are here if you wanted to you could"

While Xan and the former king's brother where speaking merely ignoring everything that was being destroyed around them Darius was getting angrier and angrier the more he listened.

Xan knew this was going to happen?

Why didn't he inform anyone? Are they working with each other? That's even more impossible!

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

Xan hates almost every living thing no matter how jovial he seems on the outside he was a monster through and through.

"Xan!"

Darius called out in a deep voice filled with deep rage.

"You've been in the capital for too long and depend way too heavily on the four lords for information, look what happened in a day...The entire city was seized. 'almulk dakhil'? you are but a disgraceful shell of your former self."

Darius’ anger was on the verge of exploding, all the veins across his face and his clenched fist began poking out of his skin ready to burst.

"He was your king!"

"He was a fool"

Xan didn’t look at Darius from the beginning, his eyes remained fixed on the old man.

"I'm not interested in joining you either,

'almulk mae alkhuruj' that's how it will stay"

"I understand I just hope you don’t forget our agreement, About those that lie to the south, after all, you want the east but I can't just give up such a big piece of my country without anything in return"

"Hahaha I remember, I’ll do as I promise, I'll play your little game I'll get you the south once you provide the men, do not forget the second you start baring your fangs at me is the time I will come for your head"

With such a bold threat being issued to their leader the guards lining the room began drawing their weapons, ready to attract but the old man raised his hand to spot them.

At this moment Darius had made up his mind to kill Xan as well as everyone in this room even if he died in the process but before he could even move Xan appeared right in front of him crouching down slightly —a cloud of dust in his wake— slamming his open palms into Darius’ chest and stomach.

Boom!

Xan might be small when compared to Darius but he was deceivingly strong, Darius’ body was sent flying clear across the room.

'What the hell was that.......'

Darius was trying hard to pull himself up from off the ground using his sword for support but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't get up.

"Do you think I'm a fool, Darius?"

He hadn’t fully recovered from the earlier hit so his vision was still a bit out of focus so to him the Xan that was not too far away looked like a complete monster.

"No....you're a.......traitor"

Even though it was just a simple sentence, it sent him into a coughing fit, just trying to talk was difficult, he felt like he was suffocating

"I never wanted this to happen I originally wanted to take you back to the east with me so at least you could live out your days there but to think your even an obedient dog even when your master is dead, don't you get tired"

"I.....g-"

Before he could even finish what he wanted to say Xan kicked him in the face sending him across the room once again.

Xan didn't walk towards him instead he turned around and walked over to the unconscious Aria grabbing her by her broken arm and walked back over towards Darius.

When the old man saw this he frowned but in the end, he kept quiet.

"Do you remember the story of the well in the heart of the kingdom.........you probably don't"

In the Kingdom there was legend that in the heart of the castle existed a well, it was thought of as the source of all the fertility and prosperity the kingdom enjoyed, where this legend originated from no one was certain but it was still passed down generation after generation, said well was in the throne room right beside where Darius was still struggling to stand.

"Pray that there is something good waiting for her at the bottom of this well, for this world will only eat her alive"

It didn’t take much for Darius to figure out what Xan’s intentions were even before he spoke he had a foreboding feeling.

"Xan no!"

Darius had managed to stand up albeit unsteady and although he couldn’t breathe normally, he still managed to summon a shout that no longer contained his former dominance but instead sounded like he was begging.

But his pleas fell on deaf ears, in a completely nonchalant way he threw Aria in the well, Darius did not hesitate for second jumping right into the well grabbing a hold of Aria.
