Refenial is a young boy without a past but some terrible abomination lurking in his soul. He finds himself in the kingdom of Frull, a place of fairytale, casual cruelty, and wonder. A land where monsters walk the land devouring the souls of all, both adults and children. A land where magic, such as that of the mysterious System, is a weapon both for and against the darkness. He must survive, work out who he can trust and decide who he wants to be. All while shadowy figures known as immortals circle him like crows, seeking to use him as a pawn in their own games.
