He Had To Let Go

Thunder screamed through the sky. Nicholas could see destruction everywhere. He gathered his energy and picked the broken pieces up from the floor in tears.

The center of his emotions shattered to the floor just like glass. It was hard to breathe because he had a lump in his throat, and he reached for a pair of arms to hold him that weren't there. Nicholas ached for a comforting voice that wasn't there. He was alone and wondering what would happen to him.

Where did all their plans go? How could this have happened? Why couldn't he kiss her strawberry lips like he used to, and why did he have to go bed without his sweetheart kissing him goodnight?

In the end, the storm died down. Nicholas gathered his strength, and he realized that his former love should have ended the relationship. Tears that fell were ones of remorse for his treatment of her. He figured that she would find another love who would treat her better than he did.

It was up to him to rise from the ashes. Nicholas had to dry his own tears, and stand on his own two feet. He both had to take a deep breath and face the reality that she wasn't in his life, and he had nobody to point the finger at but himself.

Nicholas knew his former love would find somebody who wouldn't hurt her like he did. She had the wings to fly to her new love with. Nicholas' life was up to him.

He had to let go. Going over the past was a waste of time. He decided to improve for somebody else.
