Young Justice: Gotham City
September 17th, 2010
Zatanna stared blankly towards the front of the classroom, her hands folded on top of her closed book. She was barely even trying to pretend to be paying attention, but even that was more than half of the girls in her class were doing. It was Friday afternoon, after all, and this was the last class of the day. Even though it was only the third week of class, everyone was already excited to go home for the weekend.
Zatanna’s eyes flicked briefly to the old clock hanging over the door, then back down towards Mrs. Sullivan. The minute hand was still a ways away from the top of the hour, but if three weeks in AP English Literature had taught her anything, it was that the clock in room 435 was set several minutes behind.
Once, English had been one of her favorite classes. It was an escape from all the boring math, pointless religion, awfully-taught science, and intentionally inaccurate history. Then she’d made the mistake of signing up for the advanced track. Honors English one and two hadn’t been too bad, but AP Lit and Lang were both something of a nightmare and it was way too late to switch out now.
Zatanna was so done with all of this. Not just English, but highschool in general. Maybe if she was attending a normal school things would be going better, but Giovanni had taken one look at the small nursery next to the main office at Gotham North––where most of her old friends were now––overreacted, and promptly found her a place at Cathedral High, a well-regarded Catholic girl-only school in goddamn Metropolis!
She could have just gone to Gotham Academy! At least she knew a couple of people there. She’d had the grades for it, and, even four years ago, Giovanni Zatara had both the money and connections to pull some strings for her if it became necessary. But no, that was too risky for his darling little girl. He wouldn’t want her sharing classes with, gasp, a boy!
One of the girls sitting on her left giggled. Virginia Johnson and Chastity Brown were unsubtly peeking at the magazine in Chastity’s lap, hidden from the teacher’s view by her desk and the rows of students between them. Both had their books––brand new and clearly unopened––sitting in front of them. Well, at least they were reading something, right? Even if she was confident that the elderly English teacher would be thoroughly horrified by the contents of her classmate’s brightly-colored reading materials.
Zatanna sighed softly. Why was she even here? She didn’t need this, any of this. What good was it going to do her? Dad kept saying that she needed to keep her grades up and all that garbage so she could get into a good college, but Zatanna had absolutely no intention of spending four more years studying rubbish when she could be out there saving people, performing, or just learning something that would actually help with her line of work: magic.
She glanced at the board, saw that there was nothing new written up there, and promptly continued to tune out Mrs. Sullivan’s lecture. She was saying something about how the author’s faith shaped his writing and Zatanna really couldn’t have cared less. She’d already gotten all her points for class participation this week.
She wished for what must have been the twentieth time today that her dad had agreed to let her transfer to the Conservatory full time. That would be so cool! She could be studying healing or hydromancy right now, or learning how to make magical tattoos! From the moment she saw those glowing blue lines covering Professor Mo’no’s body, she hadn’t been able to get certain pictures she’d seen online out of her head.
A womb tattoo that glowed when she did magic? How cool was that! Especially if it was more than just a pretty picture and actually did something useful. She hadn’t mentioned her idea to him yet, but she was sure that Hydrys would think it was sexy as hell. Especially if she included elements from that fancy house crest of his in the design. Her dad would ground her for the rest of her life if he ever found out, but she could live with that.
But no. He hadn’t even considered it, just denying her out of hand. It was too dangerous, it was too far away, it wouldn’t help her get a job or get into college. Blah blah blah. She went to school in Metropolis, the city where Superman got into at least one giant brawl every week. Far away? Dad teleported her to school almost every morning because it was a three hour drive otherwise, and when he couldn’t she instead took the zeta tube. The very same one she could use to get to Poseidonis just as quickly as she got to school now! And the last point? Studying magic at the Conservatory would be way more useful than anything she learned here.
Sometimes, she was kind of jealous of Hydrys. No one was making him go to school. No one was making him do anything. He could study magic, travel, and do anything he wanted whenever he wanted. And when someone did make him go to school, he got to go to magic school, not this ‘muggle rubbish’ as he called it.
Well, at least it was Friday now. Two days of freedom, one of which she was getting to spend going to a real school. Hopefully Mera would be a little bit less busy today, but if not, the queen had promised to arrange some other lessons for Zatanna. Honestly she would have been perfectly happy just going to classes like a normal student, but Mera was taking her promise to Hydrys seriously.
Zatanna’s smile widened slightly as she thought about Hydrys. Her boyfriend. Her hot, powerful, amazing boyfriend. He’d risked his life to help protect Poseidonis from Black Manta and then used his reward to help her! She, Zatanna Zatara, was the direct student of Queen Mera Nereus of Atlantis, quite possibly the strongest non-supervillain sorceress in the entire world! It was almost too much to believe. She wished she had someone she could brag to about it, but none of her classmates would understand the significance and everyone else already knew.
She hoped Hydrys would be able to come visit. He’d promised he would, but he was probably busy with his own things. Well, if he did, she’d make sure to make it worth his time. Zatanna rubbed her thighs together, remembering the feeling of his strong hands wrapped around her wrists as he pinned her arms above her head and had his way with her.

Hopefully she’d be able to convince him to go even harder tonight. She’d finally managed to get him to pull her hair and get a little rough with her this past weekend, but she craved more. She loved how kind and gentle he was most of the time, always seeing to her needs and taking care of her, but sometimes a girl just wanted to crack a bed frame or snap her choker.
Maybe he’d even bring some of his new bodyguards along. It would take some long, hard work, but she was sure she’d be able to make him come around to her way of thinking sooner or later. Her dream of getting eaten out by a sexy cat girl while Hydrys fucked her ass and an even sexier teacher turned her breasts red with her riding crop would come true some day. She just had to be patient.
Zatanna’s eyes closed. She could see it so clearly. Her sitting on the edge of the bed with Blake’s head between her thighs, a fluffy black ear held firmly in each hand. Beside her Hydrys would be turning the tables on their strict teacher, bending Glynda over his desk and spanking her with her own weapon as he fucked her.
Or maybe it would be the other way around. Her on her back on Hydrys’ desk, Glynda running the tip of her riding crop between the cleft of her pussy lips. She’d have her face shoved between Blake’s muscular thighs as the girl whined and panted, her entire body shaking with each thrust of Hydrys’ cock.
It was hot any which way she turned it. Her on her knees, her on her back, her with one leg up in the air, Hydrys’ hands around her neck and her eyes rolled up in her head, her stretched out spread eagle on the bed, ropes digging into––
Mrs. Sullivan suddenly fell silent, the absence of the noise she’d been actively tuning out for the better part of an hour starting Zatanna out of her daze. Her panties felt damp against her lower lips and she had to squeeze her knees together to stop moving her thighs against each other. The old woman raised her wrist up to her face, peering down her nose at her wrist watch.
“Oh, look at the time! I guess we’ll have to finish today’s lesson on Monday.”
The volume in the room instantly rose tenfold, chairs scraping across the floor and books dropping into backpacks. Mrs. Sullivan tutted loudly, raising her voice to be heard over the din.
“We’re not done yet!” she called out, and the room quieted slightly. “Much better. I know you’re all excited for the weekend, but don’t forget about your readings! Make sure to have chapters eleven through fifteen finished for our next class and your first paper––”
The school bell rang loudly, momentarily cutting Mrs. Sullivan off. She pursed her lips as people immediately started to grab their bags and rise from their seats. “Your first paper is due on Wednesday! I will not be accepting any submissions past the start of class, so make sure to have everything printed and ready! Have a wonderful––”
But Zatanna wasn’t listening anymore. The moment the bell had rung she’d grabbed her backpack, shoved her book and folder of schoolwork inside, and was heading for the door. She was sitting in the back row and there was a bit of a crush at the door as everyone tried to leave at the same time, but soon she was out the door and walking briskly down the bustling hallway.
There were hundreds of students packing the hallway, their voices rising as everyone struggled to talk over one another. Zatanna ignored them all, weaving between small groups of girls and the occasional teacher trying to control the noise and flow of traffic. A few people nodded to her or even called out her name, but she ignored them.
Most days she liked to linger a little. Dad didn’t let her join any of the clubs she’d wanted to participate in as a freshman, but it was nice to delay going home to empty, silent Shadowcrest even by just a few minutes. Sure she couldn’t talk to any of the girls about anything important, but it was still fun to catch up on all the gossip. She wasn’t too caught up in all of it, but it was always funny to hear about how Chastity or some other girl had gotten caught blowing her boyfriend over the weekend or making out with another girl in the bathroom.
Today however, there was no time for that. Any moment she wasted now was one less that she’d have at the Conservatory. Zatanna ducked into the first bathroom she saw and quickly dug out the charm bracelet that Hydrys had made for her out of her bag. She hated having to take it off, but any jewelry that wasn’t a simple cross or a stud earring was strictly forbidden at Cathedral High.
She slipped it on and pinched the small cross charm that Hydrys had enchanted for her during their time at the conservatory. Instantly, the weak muggle-repelling charm on the bracelet turned on and Zatanna relaxed. This way none of the students and teachers wouldn’t get in her way. She wished she could just wear it all day, but that just risked her getting marked absent and the school calling her dad to complain.
Zatanna stood up and looked down at her clothing. The white shirt, sweater, and pleated tartan skirt weren’t exactly her favorite look, but it would do. Once dad left she could roll everything up so she stopped looking like an old prude, and she still had some proper clothing in her room at the Conservatory to change into.
She really hoped Hydrys would be there. Even though he wasn’t really all that far away, not compared to last week, she’d barely seen or heard from her boyfriend at all since Saturday. She missed him. She really missed him. She was terrified that one day she’d find out that he was just gone without a trace, leaving her with no way to reach him or know when, or if, he’d be back.
Or what if something happened to him while he was on a different Plane? There was nothing she’d be able to do to help him. There was little enough she could do to help him here, but here at least they had friends, people they could count on to have their backs. In some distant, foreign land, he wouldn’t even have that.
Hydrys promised he wouldn’t disappear like that, but the idea still scared her. Kent had said that other planeswalkers had visited earth long ago, but they hadn’t stuck around. What if earth was boring? Maybe other planes were so much better that Planeswalkers had no reason to visit shitty little dirtballs like this one. Or maybe other planes were just so dangerous that they never survived long enough to come back.
Well, whatever the case may be, she’d at least savor the time they had together, and try to always give Hydrys a reason to come back. That was the least she could do. If Hydrys had enough good memories here, there would be no reason for him to settle down somewhere else. The books and other stuff he’d brought back were a good sign. Hydrys liked it here. He’d made a home here. A home where they could raise a family together.
Dad was constantly on her back about college and school and telling her that Hydrys was bad news, but she was going to be eighteen in less than a year. If he didn’t change his tune soon, well…Hydrys had plenty of room in his house and a nice big bed she could wait to break in properly. She loved her dad, she really did, but he was just too much sometimes. She was going to be a hero and a powerful witch, whether he liked it or not. And hopefully, she’d be able to do all of it with Hydrys right there beside her.
