Gringotts Visit (Diagon Alley part 1)

“Master Harry there is one issue, apparently the headmaster has your Gringotts key for your trust account. In the admission letter it stated that they wanted you to meet a someone outside the Leaky Cauldron. We will need to get you there tomorrow without them knowing that you have already left your relatives house.”

Harry frowned, how could he forget about what happened in his previous life. The whole incident with hundreds of letters, and eventually Hagrid appearing to take him to Diagon Alley while giving Dudley a pig tail was something he should have remembered.

Harry had already perfected his Occulemcy shields this time around, but now he would need to spend some time reviewing his old memories. He would need to get that key and hopefully Hagrid was the one meeting him there.

“That sounds fine Blue, I will need you to apparate me to somewhere near the muggle entrance to the Leaky Cauldron. I can’t be seen coming from the alley itself, it would raise too many questions.”

“Yes Master Harry”

The next morning Harry made sure to wear some of Dudleys old clothes, he couldn’t dress like someone who lived in the magical world, or knew anything about the magical world. Harry decided to show up late to the meeting, and look like he got lost getting there. Harry was going to guilt who ever showed up at the meeting to leave him alone.

Waiting patiently inside the bar Hagrid was worried that Harry wouldn’t show up. He made a promise to Dumbledore to take care of Harry today and he was going to do it. Hagrid at first was confused why he was chosen for such an important task, this was usually done by one of the heads of house, but he knew that Dumbledore always had a good reason for it. Dumbledore was the leader of the light, the best wizard alive, and Hagrid wasn’t going to start doubting him now.

A half hour after Harry was supposed to arrive, he walked into the Leaky Cauldron with a confused look on his face. “Hello? I think I’m supposed to be meeting someone here, my name is Harry Potter.” The whole bar froze when they heard his name, and all rushed at the same time to try and shake his hand.

“MOVE ASIDE, Hogwarts business ‘ere! Leave poor Harry alone!” Came a yell from Hagrid. Many people froze at that, not wanting to get in the way of the giant man.

Harry was smiling to himself, happy that it was the gullible giant meeting him here today. It shouldn’t be too hard to keep an act up in front of Hagrid, and hopefully he would still get Hedwig this time.

“Are you a giant? You are really big. Are you the person I’m supposed to be meeting?” Spending so many years as a child again helped Harry get ready for his time in Hogwarts. He would appear only as a slightly more mature version of an 11 year old to most. He would have to think Death and Gabriel for sending him back to such a young age, it made it easier to blend in.

“ Uh, I’m half giant but can you keep that quiet? Most people don’t like giants… Yes I’m the person your supposed to meet. Names Hagrid I’m the keeper o keys at Hogwarts. I’m sure you know all about Hogwarts, great school, and Dumbledore, great man, who’s the headmaster asked me to help you out today”

“Uh I don’t know anything about Hogwarts or why I’m here even. My Aunt and Uncle said I was accepted to some special boarding school and dropped me off here. I’m not sure if they are coming back to pick me up or not.”

“You don’t know about Hogwarts? Don’t you wonder where you’re going to learn how to control your magic?”

“Magic is real? You’re saying I can learn Magic??”

“Of course you can, you’re mom and dad were some of the best witches and wizards of there generation!”

“But my mom and dad died in a car accident because my dad was a drunk?”

“WHAT. You’re parents did not die in a car accident, and your dad wasn’t a drunk! If I ever get my hands on those Dursleys… maybe Dumbledore was wrong to leave you there…should not have said that, should not have said that”

“Dumbledore left me there?? Now I don’t want to go to this school, can I go to a different one?”

“Harry, Hogwarts is one of the best magical schools in the world, you won’t get a better education anywhere else. Now let’s get started on getting your school supplies”

Harry was laughing to himself how easy it was to get information out of Hagrid. Plus Hagrid totally missed the comment about Harry not going back to the Dursley residence, that worked out well for him.

“Harry, the first place we need to go is Gringotts. It’s the goblin run bank that will have all your money in it. I have the key to your bank account right here!”

“Since it’s my bank account, can I have the key? I’ve never had anything that was mine before”

“Well Dumbledore wanted me to hold onto it for you, but I knew your parents would rather you have it. Here you go!”

“Thanks” said Harry while thinking that was even easier than expected.

“Hagrid, do you think you can let me handle my account on my own? I have never had help from an adult before and would like to handle this on my own as well.”

Hagrid was torn, he wanted to prove that he was trustworthy and helpful to Harry but didn’t want to push the boy away. “Sure Harry, I have something to do at Gringotts anyways, important Hogwarts business. If you finish first just wait for me up here” Hagrid then started to walk towards a teller.

Harry was ecstatic that this was going so smoothly, he would be able to pass a message on to his accountant while getting the money needed from his account. Harry then walked towards the first open Goblin he could find.

“Name please”

“Harry Potter, here to access my trust account”

“Key”

“Here you go, can you also pass a message on to my accountant that I would like to set up an appointment before I go to Hogwarts. I will be staying at the Leaky Cauldron under the name of Mark Evans.”

“I will pass along the message, follow me to your account”

After a rather short ride down to his trust account, Harry found 50,000 Galleons in the vault. Harry had never realized how much was in this account because by the time he had defeated Voldemort the accounts were already combined, not to mention any money that was stolen by Molly Weasley when she had his key for a while.

“Can I get an expandable pouch for some money?”

“10 Galleons for the pouch, it can hold up to 1000 galleons”

“Perfect I’ll take it”

“Here you go”

Harry took his new pouch and filled it to the brim, there was no point holding back he was going to buy a nice trunk and other accessories. While he didn’t want the wizarding world to know his status yet, he didn’t care if the Goblins did. They weren’t going to tell anyone.

After another short ride, Harry was back in the Gringotts lobby where he found Hagrid waiting for him. Hagrid seemed to be more nervous after he ran his errand and was keeping his hand near a pocket in his large jacket.

“Harry! There ye are, ready to get the rest of your school supplies?”

“Sure, lead the way”
