Chapter-2 Infinite Healing

Chapter-2 Infinite Healing

"You are a wizard, Mr. Alexander Knight," said Professor McGonagall.

Alexander's mind was overwhelmed with disbelief at hearing those familiar words.

Adding to the shock was the Infinity Symbol that revealed itself after twelve years of hiding.

"Pardon me, Professor, could you say that again? I didn’t quite hear it right," asked Alexander.

"It's okay, Mr. Knight; you are a wizard capable of performing incredible feats with magic. I know it's a little hard to believe."

"You’ll find it easier to believe after a quick demonstration," said Professor McGonagall.

"No, Professor, there's no need for a demonstration. I believe your words. I've noticed strange things happening around me for a long time. Now that you say I'm a wizard, I guess it explains the weirdness," said Alexander while eyeing the System Panel.

"It's a relief, Mr. Knight. I find it very tiresome to convince each new student and their parents of the credibility of my words," said Professor McGonagall.

"You seem quite intelligent for someone your age, Mr. Knight. You have no idea of the trouble I went through explaining to the last student," added Professor McGonagall.

"Damn, I let the act slip. Think of something to distract her," Alexander thought to himself.

"Professor, you said I'm a wizard, right? Can I breathe fire, fly in the sky, or become invisible?" said Alexander excitedly.

"Perhaps I was too quick to make a conclusion; he is still a child, no matter how smart he is," thought Professor McGonagall.

"Mr. Knight, I am a professor of Transfiguration at Hogwarts. A quick lesson should be enough to demonstrate what magic is capable of," said Professor McGonagall.

"Transfiguration is the study of magic, where we transmute objects to change their shape, color, and material. Let me show you," she said, taking out her wand from her robes and waving it at the glass jug on the table, which promptly turned into a bird.

Even though he knew magic was possible in this world after hearing McGonagall's words, Alexander was still surprised to see it in action. How could an object made of glass turn into a living being that looked indistinguishable from the real thing?

Alexander's eyes were fixated on the bird on the table.

"Mr. Knight, that will be all for this small lesson in Transfiguration. You will learn more about it at Hogwarts," said Professor McGonagall.

"This is your Hogwarts letter of admission. Written on it is the list of things you need to purchase," she said, handing a letter to Alexander.

He tore open the letter and took a quick glance at its contents.

"Professor McGonagall, where would I buy the things written on the letter? And to buy them, do you think a couple of pounds would suffice?" asked Alexander.

"Mr. Knight, part of my responsibility is to help with the purchase of school items for prospective students and their parents. As for the funds, they are taken care of by the vault set up by your parents," replied Professor McGonagall.

"We could purchase the items right now. From what I heard from the matron, you appear to be in a rather painful position—I heard you took a kick to the head," said Professor McGonagall.

"It's not a problem at all, Professor; I'm completely fine. We can go right now," said Alexander while holding his head.

"I disagree, Mr. Knight; you don't seem fine at all," replied Professor McGonagall.

"I'm fine, Professor. I just feel a little groggy after passing out. I think we should do the shopping today; I don’t know when I’ll have another chance to do this. You know, I'm a very busy man," said Alexander.

"If you are so adamant, you should drink this potion; it should help with muddle-headedness. And Mr. Knight, it would be more appropriate to call yourself a man after you've at least grown taller than my shoulder. A more apt word might be ‘boy,’" she said, handing him a vial of potion.

Alexander took the vial, opened the cork, and downed its contents in one go.

"Professor, what is this potion? It tastes like vomit," asked Alexander, sheepishly smiling.

"The potion you drank, Mr. Knight, is a healing potion. Now that you’ve taken it, you should start feeling better shortly."

"Professor, we can set off now; I just need to change out of my school uniform," replied Alexander.

"Can we set off now? It’s already past noon, and it will take a lot of time to get all the items on the list," replied Professor McGonagall.

"Then I'll wait in the main hall. I’ll sort out the necessary permissions with the matron to take you out," replied Professor McGonagall, walking out of the dormitory.

"Okay, Professor," said Alexander, closing the door.

Right after the professor left, Alexander shifted his attention to the floating panel that had been bothering him for a while.

UNLIMITED BUFF SYSTEM

NAME: Alexander Knight

POWERS: Magic

DEBUFFS:

BUFFS: Satiety (2 hours) +/- , Increased Healing (8 minutes) +/-

He looked at the entries under "buffs." Satiety was there when he first saw the panel, and the increased healing buff had only appeared after drinking the potion.

He noticed the plus and minus symbols beside the entries and, intrigued, pressed the minus symbol beside the "Increased Healing" entry.

The duration quickly dropped from 10 minutes to 2 minutes. Before it dropped any lower, Alex removed his hand.

Observing the two-minute duration, he pressed the plus symbol this time and watched as the numbers went up.

After pressing the plus symbol for a while, all the numbers disappeared, replaced by an infinity symbol. The duration changed from 8 minutes to an infinite amount of time.
