Harry was nervous, but, luckily, didn't have time to dwell upon it. For no sooner was everyone settled into place did the wall open up again and reveal a tall, pale professor with black-hair and robes. It was Professor Snape.
He walked in, with his cloak billowing out behind him, to the front of the common room. Gemma and the other male prefect walked up to him and whispered something to him. He looked shocked for a second, before he composed himself. He nodded and gestured for them to sit back down. They did and after a second he started to speak.
"Welcome to Slytherin," the man said. "Welcome to the most disliked and misunderstood of all the four Houses. I am Severus Snape, Head of Slytherin House and Potions Master for Hogwarts.
"Everyone of you is different in some way or another.. Some of you are from pureblood families who have been in Slytherin for generations. Some of you are the first Slytherins in your families. One of you had never even heard of magic before this, due to negligent or ignorant muggles.”
At this he looked directly at Harry, and Harry blushed. Snape looked away and continued. “There are those of you who will have lived life surrounded by everything you could want. And there are those that know very well what life is like without finery.”
"Gryffindors will turn their backs upon each other when they do not want to take blame or when one no longer portrays the ‘typical’ Gryffindor. Ravenclaws will betray you, for a chance to prove themselves, or even just to get a better grade. Hufflepuffs believe the best in everyone, and would be no help in a conflict, or they might even turn you in to your enemies, because they are too trusting. But Slytherins will stay loyal to their own. We are a much closer house than any of the others.”
"Here, you are all the same in one way. You are all Slytherins. You will always be Slytherins. All the other houses will hate you for no reason except for that fact. They will bully you and curse you. You will need to use your wits and cunning to help yourself. But your housemates will also help you.
“Within Slytherin House, you will always find support. Slytherins always protect our own. You are going to all be in the same house for the next seven years, but you will be a Slytherin for life. For this reason, we have rules that not only that you all will follow, but I and every other Slytherin to exist, will also follow.
1. All arguments with a fellow Slytherin will not be settled out in public, but in the Slytherin Common Room. You will present a unified front when out in public.
2.Reprimanding of a fellow Slytherin will be kept to a minimum in public.
3. No matter personal feelings toward one another, you will not harm a fellow house member in any way You will not hurt them physically, verbally, or mentally. If anyone sees this happening, from other Slytherins, or any other student, you will report this to the Head of House Slytherin.

4. To help ensure that everyone follows rule number three, no Slytherin student will walk alone outside of the Slytherin Dungeons. You will be accompanied by either a teacher, someone in your house, or another student that you absolutely trust.
5. Proper behavior and traditions will be maintained at all times outside of the Common Room.
6. Slytherins must do whatever it takes to help themselves and each other succeed.
7. All Slytherins will show respect to all former, present, or future Heirs of Slytherin if one is ever present. You will help them, if they require it, and provide for them if they need it.
"Those are the Rules of Slytherin House and I expect you to follow them without complaint. Any questions?”
He looked around expectantly, and when no one said anything he nodded, and said, “Prefects, will you now show the first years to their dormitories? I know there are a few matters we still need to talk about, but the health of our House members comes first. So, go settle in and try to be quiet. Be in the Common Room at seven in the morning dressed and ready for breakfast."
Everyone nodded and said, “Yes, sir,” or “Yes, Professor.” There were even a few, “Yes, Lord Prince,’’ but Professor Snape scowled at those, and once he made sure everyone was following his directions he walked out of the room.
The prefects walked to the front of the room, and Gemma clapped her hands gaining everyone’s attention. Once everyone was looking at her, she started speaking. “Okay, in case you didn’t know, my name is Gemma Farley and I am the female prefect for Slytherin House, and this very quiet man next to me is the male prefect! His name is Caius Warrington. Not to be confused with his brother Cassius Warrington.”
There were a few laughs, but they quieted after a second. She cleared her throat and continued. “Anyways, the boy’s dorms are over there-” She pointed to the left, “And the girls dorms are over there.” She pointed to the right this time. “The dorms have nameplates next to them, indicating whose dorm it is. The one with your name on it is yours. Please don’t go into other people’s dorms without their permission. Because of the odd number of students, some rooms will have more people than other rooms. Now shoo!” She waved her hand at them, then walked to the door to the girls dorms and disappeared inside.
Harry looked at Blaise, Theo and Draco, and they looked back at him and shrugged. They shrugged and walked into the boys dorms, with Crabbe and Goyle lagging along behind them.
They walked through the door for the boys dorms and looked around. They were in a long hallway with a whole bunch of doors on the wall, with nameplates next to them. Some of the rooms had three people, some had two and a few of them had four nameplates next to them. They walked along the hallway looking for theirs. The first one they saw with anyone in their year were ‘Crabbe’ and ‘Goyle’ Draco turned to look at the two boys and said, smirking, “Looks like you two have a room to yourself. Don’t do anything naughty.” Harry snorted.
They looked at him confused for a minute, then shrugged and went inside. Blaise and Theo rolled their eyes and they all continued down the hall, until they reached a door with all four of their nameplates next to it.
“Would you look at that! We’re all in the same room together!” Blaise said.
Theo sighed and said, “Do you always have to be so cheerful about everything? It gets annoying sometimes.“
“You’re annoying sometimes,” was his smart comeback.
“Can you two stop flirting and get in here?” Draco said annoyedly from the doorway.
Harry, Theo, and Blaise all walked in the room and looked around. Blaise whistled appreciatively. “Nice room!” Theo snorted and Blaise glared at him.
Harry looked around the room in awe. There were four ornately carved four-poster beds in each corner of the room. The walls and floor were made of grey stone and there was a fireplace on one of the walls. Each of their trunks were on the end of their beds. There was a door in the middle of one of the walls. Theo opened it and it turned out to be a bathroom. They all turned back around and sat on their own beds.
“So, are you going to tell me about me being Heir to the House of Potter yet?” Harry asked impatiently.
Blaise rolled his eyes. “So impatient. But I suppose we can tell you about it now. Relax and get comfortable, guys. We’re gonna have a long night ahead of us.”
