After freaking out for a few seconds, my heart beat had somewhat calmed down. I chose to believe that it was indeed harry potter. I had somehow come to this world. But after my initial fanboy-ing.....
I gave it a serious thought.... Things, weren't really looking good. The ideal situation was that I was also a wizard. As for why I couldn't use magic. Well normally people use wands. Also, I was still six years old... Perhaps my powers had not yet developed and stayed dormant within me.
This would explain the strange energy I had felt inside me. But then another thought flashed my mind. Squibs...
I wasn't exactly the best harry potter fan, I had watched the movies a few times, but I had never read the books. So I wasn't exactly sure on how this worked. But in the movies, a lady was a squib, and yet she could interact with the magical world. She just couldn't perform any magic at all.
Damn... that was the second possibility, if I was a squib, things weren't ideal. I would have a hard life and probably be treated as a second class citizen. Well whether or not I was a squib, few thoughts still lingered in my mind. I was sure I wasn't British, so I would definitely not be considered within Hogwarts for now.
The main concern was of course the biggest of them all. Voldemort. The more you think about it, because I wasn't currently in the 21st century, that means the old snake wasn't dead yet. No, considering the fact that I thought I was in the 70s. That bastard must have just come to power. I still wasn't sure, in the movies it wasn't exactly mentioned, but I do recall that Harry Potter had been born in the 80s. That means there was still a decade or so for the dark lord to fall.
Nevertheless, since I wasn't in the British Isles, the snake wasn't my problem. I could probably pass my time peacefully in my part of the world and learn magic.(A/N: Lmao don't worry the story is going to be plenty exciting)
I won't lie, I was fascinated. But I had no way to access this power.
After contemplating a lot about my future plans, I didn't really come out with an exact answer. All my plans had huge holes and dependencies. In short, I was currently fucked.... there was no denying it.
I heaved a small sigh.... for now it was best to explore this area. I couldn't do a lot since all the muggle areas were closed down for the night. But the wizarding world was alive and awake at all times.
Shuffling through the crowd, I walked towards some open areas. It wasn't wise to stay at the entrance. A lot of people had eyes on me, and I was damn sure this wasn't just a kids fantasy fairy tale. I needed to get the eyes off me and find a good place to rest right now.
I didn't really have a choice of way here, every place seemed shady. But regardless of my gut feelings, I staggered through hordes of people, seemingly unbothered by the crowd.
I turned right on a well lit alleyway, and walked straight, a few second later, I turned right again. I was mildly surprised to find that the area was also well lit. Walking a few steps forward, I noticed a few clothing shops that had seemingly closed their doors and dimmed their lights, probably too late in the day for them...
I soon also noticed that the crowd here had reduced by a wide margin. In this small alley, there were only a handful of people, seemingly busy with some work. I kept walking, because I felt that going back wasn't really a choice. At most I would just be swept away by the crowd, ending up somewhere unsavory.
I took a left this time, just to be safe not just end up walking in circles. I noticed that the lights were dimmed around here, damn.. not a good turn I guess. I continued walking slowly. Not to arouse any suspicion.
A 6 year old at this time of the day was already suspicious enough....
I stayed close to the walls and slowly made my way to the end of the path. As I looked right, an uneven lump of clothes laid on the floor, probably dumped out here to be thrown away. It was at this time I quickened my pace, because I felt like I was being watched. I decided to turn left, the pile of clothes was far too suspicious to me.
I strafed through the passage and kept walking. However as I took another step....
I was back at the beginning....I could see the same handful of people, busy in their work. it was the same exact alley. But I was completely sure that I had not backtracked in any way...
I decided to not freak out in front of them, preparing to do a quick jog through them, I looked up feeling the moonlight that caressed my skin. The full moon was completely out, a silvery light illuminated the alley, it was a scene of beauty, but I had no time for admiration.
I looked down and then it hit me. My eyes widened and I was completely shocked to my core..... I was looking at my feet, it was clear to me, the shadows were there, but when I looked at the people next to me....
Stolen novel; please report.
There was no shadow to be found, no shadow at all. A spell? no that would be completely useless to do right now. There was no reason to hide their shadow in this place. I nudged closer to one man as he did his work. He had book in one hand and a quill in the other. But no matter what he wrote, nothing came out on the book. I looked at this eyes, and they felt soul less. As if he was just a puppet.
It was peculiar that I was this close and he did not show any reaction... Of course, now that it hit me, I wanted to laugh at myself.
"A lure" I whispered. I crept my hand closer to his body, but when I expected to feel him with my touch, all I could feel was smoke.
This was an illusion. To lure me? But why, I was completely unknown here. No one would be concerned with a boy. But the truth was in front of me, the well lit alley, a less number of people. I was a fool.
The whole thing was a setup. Of course, if there was such a place here I should have expected the others to come and look around. But not a single soul was here except these "puppets". All the turns I had taken to make sure I was not followed were useless. The wizarding community outside was real, but this particular alley was completely fake. The lighting was different, there were almost no people, and all the shops were closed down.
I like a moth to the flame took the bait way too easily. Fuck....
An eerie feeling crept in as my heart sunk to the floor. I turned around and saw that seeming "Pile of clothes" I had seen earlier moving, It was behind me. Shifting its form until it settled on a man in a black suit. He had red eyes, pale skin and a horrific grin on its face.
I needed no words to understand what was going on, that thing in front of me was eyeing me like I was its dinner. I had full reason to believe that it was so. My body was quick to react, that thing was only a few feet ahead so I sprinted away in full speed.
Hoping that I could somehow still make it to the main marketplace. I was running for my life here. But every time I turned to a new path, I saw the same scene, the man was always behind me. Sauntering up to me. He had no care in the world about me running away.
I was a fly caught in his trap..... Somehow, I was stuck in this loop. No matter where I went, it was like a maze. I would always end up in that same well lit alley. The man would slowly take few steps forward.
This sick fuck was clearly enjoying it. It was my mistake thinking that I was safe, I regretted turning into the alley in the first place. But there was no time for regrets. This thing was seemingly bored from playing cat and mouse, I could tell because the paths I could run to were slowly closing up.
Some black smoke came and all the side alleys were blocked up by walls. Fuck.... time for the reckoning. I could see the beast in front me. He was dressed in refined clothes, but he was surely a monster. Jagged teeth, psychotic smile and a crazed look in his eye. The pale lips and bloodshot pupils. From some common folklore, I could tell that this was a vampire, and I was its meal.
My heart threatened to jump out of my chest, I slowly stepped back, only to find my back against the wall. My nails dug into the concrete behind me, the vampire stepped forward, hungry for my blood.
Is this how it ends? Surely now is the time my magic unleashes its power. right....? I was losing myself as my thoughts spiraled towards despair. I was no weakling mind you, but the monster in front of me was a wall. I could instinctively tell. He would make short work of me no matter the power I displayed. I had slowly given up, my whole body shivering with fear.
My hands clutched at the stone wall behind me, trying to dig through it, my nails completely bloody. There was no way out...
FUCK IT THEN, I clenched my fists as my nails dug in to my palms. I was not going without a fight. I didn't get this chance just to squander it away waiting for a miracle.
"Come then You son of a bitch"- I bellowed. My voice was calm, with no fear. I was prepared to fight for my life. No excuses. I knew this was where I make my stand.
The monster seemed to think I was hilarious. He cackled. Lancing his arms towards my head, he shot forward with unnatural speed.
Before he could even reach me, my body moved to dodge his blow, my short frame allowed me to slip to his knees as his hand dug into the concrete wall. I too had supernatural speed, but that wasn't what allowed me to dodge.
"You're not thinking straight are you, or rather you can't think at all"- I blurted the vampires condition unconsciously. The beast was so hungry that all his reasoning was out the window.
He might seem scary but right now it was like fighting an oversized dog. He had no tactical plan to kill me, it seemed as if the temptation of my blood was too much for him. He was barely holding on but the moment his brain deemed that he had trapped me, it completely gave in to his animalistic desire.
He immediately crushed the wall to free his hand and bolted right towards me. This time he aimed for my neck, he was aiming to rip my head clean off.
I wasn't fast enough to react, I leapt backwards but his nails dug into my skin, his hand threatening to thrust through my chest instead.
I grabbed his head with both hands dug my nails into his eyes.
"If I die, I am taking you with me you fuck", forcing my fingers through his sockets was far too much for him, he shrieked with a sonic cry that resounded throughout the area. It was louder than anything I had ever heard. My ears were immediately bleeding, losing my balance I could barely stand straight. My hands lost their grip..... shit! I couldn't hold it for long.
My vision blurred and the vampire was now in a rage. He grabbed me by the throat and slammed me into the floor. His blood oozing through his empty eyes, I had taken the bastards eyes..
A mocking smile flashed on my face. I was far too hurt to do anything now. This beast was completely on top of me, ready to bite my neck off. It was a good run guys, guess this is it. It was fun, I laughed a little on the inside.
My eyes almost lifeless, he moved to kill me, I felt his teeth as he almost pricked my skin, but then I heard footsteps, and a faint whisper....
"Reducto"...
- A bright light rushed through the beast blasting him off of me, a bright explosion followed as he was reduced to smithereens. The light was too bright, it engulfed almost everything as I felt waves of what I thought magic power rushing behind me as I lay on the floor.
A faint smile was on my face as I looked up at the night sky, the stars were clear as the whole universe shined down on me.
"beautiful".... I mumbled, I felt weak because I lost too much blood. I don't know who had saved me, but I did hear a faint voice. Calling out to me.
"Are y----"
Before I could make out what it said, my vision blurred, and everything turned black.
