Chapter One

Harry thought that with the war over things would start to look up.

Alas his luck had never been that great.

And thus it was only a matter of time until he found himself in a rather dangerous situation.

This time however he found himself facing it alone.

As Hermione was in Australia tracking down her parents.

Her goal was to return their memories to them and beg their forgiveness for her actions.

Ron’s absence was a little less noble.

The git had sold him out to the Goblins the moment it became clear that they were due to go on trial in the Goblin courts for their role in the Gringotts breakin.

He was enjoying his fame far too much and the wealth that came with it to let something like loyalty get in the way.

He was a Gryffindor afterall not a Hufflepuff.

And if that wasn’t bad enough while Harry was under Goblin “care” they found Harry to be under the effects of heavy Love Potions.

These were so potent and Alchemically based that not even the Thief's Downfall could strip his body of their effects.

It didn’t take a genius to figure out where they came from.

As the moment Harry was clear of them he no longer felt any of the overwhelming desire for a certain red headed fangirl.

And with his mind thinking clearly for the first time in probably years he could put two and two together and finally come up with something other than five.

Thus while he was in confinement before his trial his mind thought back over all the things he had experienced since returning to the Wizarding World.

And easily deduced that 90% of his experiences in it were somehow manipulated or fabricated.

All so Harry would react in exactly the way a certain meddling Headmaster would desire.

The worst part was that Harry knew he played his role to perfection.

The amount of regrets he felt was unmistakable.

But the biggest was realising he truly was in love with someone.

And that it was looking like he would die without letting her know.

He suspected she too was under the same Love Potion effects as he was.

And thus he was probably going to die before he could do anything about it.

“No” he thought to himself.

And with all the willpower and determination he was known for he fought his situation tooth and nail.

He sat through the farce of a trial the Goblin put him on.

“That’s nothing new” Harry thought.

He was used to being put on what was essentially a sham trial.

First for saving himself and Dudley from the Dementors.

And second was post Battle Of Hogwarts where the Dark faction of the Wizengamot brought him up on Terrorist Charges.

“I got through them I can get through this” Harry thought.

When it became clear that his “Defender” the Goblin version of a solicitor was purposely tanking the case he took matters into his own hands.

And thus in the dark underground caverns.

Surrounded by Goblins baying for his blood.

He stood tall and spoke loudly.

“I demand a trial by combat!” Harry said.

The Goblins immediately began yelling in their guttural Gobbledygook language.

Obviously they were displeased with his demand.

Alas by Goblin law they had to allow it.

“Very well Wizard” the Goblin in the judge’s seat sneered.

And so he was dragged down into the centre.

His shackles were removed

Harry rubbed his wrists to soothe the ache.

The Goblins then brought down his opponent.

“Ofcourse” Harry thought.

Obviously they wouldn’t give him an easy foe.

“And it’s not like I’m a Parseltongue anymore” Harry thought when he saw the large Horned Serpent.

The Goblins didn’t even offer him a weapon of any kind to fight his foe with.

The intelligent Snake at first seemed unwilling to harm Harry.

But a few commands from its handler.

And use of those damn clankers told it pain would be coming if it disobeyed made its mind up for it.

And so it lunged at Harry.

It was all Harry could do to dodge.

The large horn missed him by mere centimetres.

Its tail then flung out in a whipping motion catching Harry in the back knocking him across the ground.

The Goblins cheered then heckled when Harry made his way to his feet.

Harry however gave them none of his attention.

His focus was entirely devoted to the snake before him.

The back and forth between Harry and the snake continued.

Harry ducked, dodged, dived, dipped and dodged.

Slowly he gained more and more injuries.

And without a weapon in hand was unable to do any real damage.

“If only they hadn't taken my wand off me” Harry thought.

As though reacting to his thoughts a wand suddenly appeared in his hands.

Only it wasn’t the recently fixed Phoenix feather and Holly wand he gained when he was eleven.

No it was none other than the Elder Wand.

Along with it came the other Hallows.

Somehow they recognised the desire of their Master and had come to his aid.

“Huh” Harry thought dumbly.

“Guess being the Master of Death comes with some perks” he thought.

From there the fight took on a whole new dimension.

The Goblins were obviously not too pleased.

Harry soon killed the Horned Serpent.

“Honestly I was doing you a favour” Harry thought thinking of who knows what tortures the Goblins put it through to ensure its compliance.

Thus Harry managed to ensure his freedom from the Goblins much to their displeasure.

Something not helped when Harry used their own laws against them to gain possession of the corpse of the Horned Serpent as the slayer of the beast.

He then proceeded to withdraw all the Potter and Black wealth from their control.

“Obviously I don’t trust you to protect my gold” He said as a final slap in the face.

He soon left Gringotts.

His goal was to track down Hermione and free her of her own love potions.

Unfortunately by the time he found her it was too late.

She and Ron had already married.

And doing so under the old vows.

The literal Till Death Do Us Part unbreakable kind.

Ron sneered at him like he had won some kind of victory.

“Finally got something you want didn’t I Potter” he said in an admirable Malfoy impression.

Which completed with his slicked back hair and fancy robes.

Hermione in her addled state also sided with Ron.

Eventually sending hexes his way when he was unable to talk sense into her.

Not having it in him to harm her Harry left with his tail between his legs.

He made his way to Grimmauld Place.

There he locked down the wards.

And stripped the Fidelius before replacing it with one of his own.

He stayed there in isolation with nothing but Kreecher and his regrets for company.

He tried to form a relationship with his Godson teddy.

But Andromeda was having none of that.

Harry’s name in the magical world was less than dirt.

And she didn’t want Teddy to be burdened with that.

It was all very Slytherin of her.

But Harry couldn’t find it in him to hold it against her.

He also quickly handed in his resignation from the Auror Academy.

Not wanting to further fight for a world that had turned on him one time too many.

Instead spending most of his time studying from the books found in the Black Library.

It was a twist of fate however when one day he came across a book.

One that detailed a Potion of dubious origins (of course it was in the Black Library).

However, according to the book this potion had an incredible ability.

That being that it would separate the drinker's soul from their body.

And send it backwards in time.

Thereby it would merge with their younger body.

Essentially allowing them to Time Travel and in a way not subject to the typical laws Time Travel involved.

Obviously Harry lacked the required skill needed to brew such a complicated potion.

He knew he was going to need to gain immense skill in Potions to do so.

Thus he was going to need a teacher.

Said teacher came in the form of the once hated Snape.

His soul summoned with the use of the Resurrection Stone.

At first he refused to help Harry.

His bitterness and hatred followed him beyond the grave.

But a few hours too long in the mortal realm soon changed his tune.

He was begging for release.

And was willing to do anything to get it.

Thus each day Harry would summon him and force him to teach him and teach him well.

An entire year passed devoted to nothing but Potion brewing and their intricacies.

If he wasn’t studying with Snape.

He was reading any potion text he could get his hands on.

This continued until begrudgingly the Shade of Snape admitted that Harry had the skill to pass his potions mastery.

With those skills he finally brewed the complicated potion.

It took months to brew.

Needing precice phases of the moon for each step.

By the time he was done it matched the colour and consistency as described in the book to perfection.

The maximum distance it could send him back was ten years.

One for each figure of eight stir during the brewing process.

And so on midnight July 31st 2000.

Harry drank the vile concoction.

It was by far the worst tasting potion Harry had ever drunk.

And he had drunk some vile tasting potions in his time.

The effects were almost instantaneous.

The agony he felt was almost Cruciatus like in nature.

His body was wracked with pain as his soul was stripped from his body.

The moment it was free of its physical form the potion then hurled it backwards violently across time.

That was by far the worst part making the previous pain seem like nothing in comparison.

The kaleidoscope of colours and shapes was also maddening.

“No wonder nobody else was crazy enough to use that potion” Harry thought as the world came back into focus around him.

A smile bloomed on Harry’s face as he saw he was in the shack in the middle of nowhere.

It was once more July 31st 1991.

“Sorry ‘bout that” came the booming voice of Hagrid as he knocked the door off its hinges.

And thus Harry had done the seemingly impossible and given himself a chance to redo his life.

He was certainly going to use this chance.

He refused to let things turn out as they did before.

And thus began Harry Potter's second chance.
