Soundproof Room... Really?
---
Step... Step... Step...
"I think I chose the wrong path... or maybe I'm just unlucky," Grio groans to himself with frustration and despair, moving through the hallway he picked, only to step on mold... and sometimes... skeletons. The dim oil lamp in his hand casts a faint light as he finally reaches a staircase leading up.
"Finally... but should I go up, or just keep going straight?" he wonders, gazing at the stairs, which are clear of mold, unlike the mold-infested hallway. Without a second thought...
"The stairs, definitely!"
Grio begins ascending slowly, glancing around and spotting an old, faded sign with names on it. He starts reading it, though most of the words are unreadable.
"Annet Jo... well, her last name is gone. Are these scientists' names? Frederick... Os... Lenora... Why don’t these guys have last names? Only the first one does... or maybe that’s just her first name."
He mutters with unease, then shrugs. "Not that it matters! I just need to find that damned file and—”
THUD... (the sound of something metallic hitting the ground)
Hearing the metallic clang from above, Grio halts, then begins to back up, thinking...
"Should I just turn back? Maybe this is a divine sign to go back. But then... the moldy hallway isn't exactly a good choice either." Anxiously, Grio glances at his hands, then, steeling himself, his eyes darken.
"No matter. I'm not the weak one here."
He moves forward, continuing up the stairs, his hand extended cautiously, yet not clenched into a fist; his fingers are loose and ready. Reaching the top, he approaches the source of the noise, peeking nervously into the open room, where he spots... a girl also wearing a yellow raincoat, similar to his own, marking her as a fellow orphan. The tattoo on her neck reads: Number 9.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Grio quietly approaches her, his steps unnoticed. When he's just five steps away, the girl suddenly turns, prompting him to step back as she locks her brown eyes on him, her long, shiny brown hair draping over her shoulders. She points a gun at him with a hardened expression and says sharply, "Get down!"
He laughs mockingly
"Get down? Sounds like someone got a bit of a god complex after finding a gun... Bet it's empty anyway," Grio retorts with a smirk, showing no intention of obeying her command.
"Oh, really? Well, how about a free trial run... just for you?" she says sarcastically, aiming the gun at him, finger on the trigger.
"Alright, alright. But if you kill me now, what do you gain from it? You’ll just make a lot of noise, and who knows if we're even alone here..."
Grio speaks seriously, his hands casually resting in his pockets. The girl’s gaze softens slightly, though she keeps her guard up. He continues, his voice calm.
"Look, we’re on the same side here. Let’s work together. You have a gun, and I..."
"And you?" she asks, one eyebrow raised skeptically.
"I'm... special. I have a certain... ability, let’s say. A supernatural or magical one. I'll help you, and you help me," Grio states earnestly, waiting for her response.
With a smirk, the girl asks, "And if you have a magic power, why not use it on me?"
"Because my power isn’t for killing... mostly. I try to avoid bloodshed as much as possible. Especially since we’re in the same boat."
Grio responds calmly, his serious gaze meeting hers. She lowers her weapon, tucking the gun back into her belt as she steps toward him.
"I like your thinking... You seem calm and careful with your words. That could be useful," she remarks.
"And you’re a good listener," Grio replies, stepping closer and crossing his arms. She introduces herself firmly, "I'm Yona."
"And I’m Grio."
The two exchange names, then Yona clasps her hands behind her back and says seriously, "I’m not alone... I have two other girls with me."
"Good. I’m with two other boys. They're useful and reliable... Oh, and there’s also another girl with us." Grio glances at her and asks, "Where are the two girls?"
With a hesitant look, she replies, "They're on the radiation floor..."
"Wait... the radiation floor?! What do you mean?! Grioko says with shook
Like what i said smart one .i know....i didn't believe it either....... but there is a actually one here .and It's literally underground. Yuna says indifferently, explaining it as if it were normal.
Why did you go there? I thought our goal was the files. Goryoko says suspiciously and cautiously.
Yes but ...sigh.....
You don't know what are the File content. Right? She says in frustration, pinching the bridge of her nose, in disbelief that he came all this way and he doesn't know the contents files.....
If i know did i will ask you ?and....... how did you know.Grio says with angry
Not me .....she knows .....

Meanwhile, Alb continues walking after his recent fight with the skeleton, holding the lamp in one hand and an iron rod in the other as he makes his way toward the archive room. "The files should be there, I hope," he thinks.
Hissing Hissing
Snarling
Snarling
Alb hears faint hissing and a harsh, rough growling sound. Slowly, he turns to locate the source, hearing it once more, this time coming from an open room with a moldy entrance. The first thought that crosses his mind...
"Is that... the Karios?"
Without a second thought, Alb continues walking, moving as silently as possible since he recalls reading about their sharp sense of hearing.
Meanwhile, Korotobi, walking from the opposite end of the same hallway, spots Alb from afar and smiles broadly.
"Wow, what a coincidence! Hey, Mr. Genius!" he shouts loudly to get his attention, a rat in his hands.
Alb’s yellow eyes widen at the sound, and he facepalms, muttering, "Oh great, just what I needed."
The sound from the room grows louder, then abruptly goes silent. In a swift motion, a head pokes out of the doorway, revealing four eyes on a decaying green face. As soon as it appears, the foul stench fills the air, and the only sound that follows is that of cracking bones. Both Alb and Korotobi stare wide-eyed in shock and fear, and then Korotobi smiles with realization.
"Ohhh! So that's why you were walking quietly!"
"...Fuck you..."
