Chapter 1: Awake

It awoke, it was uncomfortable. When it realized that it can see, it sees that it is not on the ground, floating? No? Tied up, suspended on the ceiling of whatever building it was contained in. It took a second to take note of the source of the uncomfortable feeling that bugged it since its wake, it was its neck, it seems that it was suspended here by the neck.

It didn't want to be here, uncomfortable and suspended on the ceiling. Writhing, it started kicking its legs and pulled on the rope on its neck. The effort was rewarded when the rope snapped, letting it fall the tall height that the building had.

Its back hit the ground first with an audible thud that echoed through the large and empty building. It felt more comfortable now, being up there was not joyful, especially when it was by the neck. Speaking of, it seems the rope that tied its neck didn't snap, it was only the length of rope that suspended it.

After it took its time enjoying the fact that it no longer was up there, it observed.

It observed the building it is in, it seems to be a very large hall, walls gray of stone and carved on it some patterns, it can't discern what these patterns were, however.

Then it looked at where it was a few moments ago. The ceiling.

What it saw were many, many, many humanoid things that were covered in dirtied cloth in the same condition it was. Suspended by the ceiling, rope tied by their neck. But unlike it, these things were not awake. Some ropes looked like they broke off as well. The view was something it felt, should be emoted upon, but what emotion it didn't know as it only laid there, staring, no emotions ever deciding to cross its body.

When many moments pass, it finally scrounged up something that it decided to stand up. Turning on its side and pushing its arms onto the ground to lift itself up into a standing position. Then it looked at its arms, they were of the same cloth that covered those above it right now. It assumed that whatever it was of the same of those suspended up there. It kept on inspecting itself, taking in every detail it has on itself. The rope that it broke off from still had a bit of a length, but it doesn't feel like it is going to bother it.

During its self-inspection, something shone, illuminating the hall it was in. It looked over to what this shine was. It was a light, not a simple object, and it was fascinating to it. Deep inside, something told it to go toward the light.

So it did.

It walked towards it, its curiosity fueling the feeling deep inside to keep going. Every step towards it, the brighter it felt, and the brighter it felt, the more it wanted to feel. It wanted to satiate this curiosity, so it kept on walking.

When it felt like the light was covering its whole body, another step forward finally showed what this light was from.

The outside.

When it was out, the light that shone until there was no darkness in the world, dimmed to let it finally see properly. What it saw was something blue, said blue that moved around and thrashed making sounds, pushing air which hit its face. It was the sea, and it was awe-inspiring to it. It was fascinated with what it was seeing, even if it seemed so simple. Taking its time, enjoying what it sees. It didn't know how much time passed as it viewed, but it was a long stretch of time.

When it was finished being in awe, it looked back at… a cave. Not the hall it was from before, but just some dark cave of brown rocks, nothing of grandeur like the hall. It was confused about what has happened, it definitely didn't move from where it got out of the hall from. Well, it wasn't wholly bothered about it, when in there was nothing. So it looked away from the cave and looked around, wondering if there was a place where it could move to. It saw a way to go up from where it was to somewhere. So it decided this somewhere is its next destination.

It walked on the rocky shore that ended the sea, towards the path that it put its views on. It felt the rough surface of the rock that it stepped on. Somehow everything felt new to it. Despite it knowing what the things it was seeing were, everything felt new like it perceived everything directly for the first time. And somehow these feelings were not weird to it. In fact, it was very joyful about these feelings.

When its feet stepped on the dirt of the path, it felt the texture of the path. Despite the cloth that covered itself, it could feel every grain of dirt on the soil. It was different from the more solid surface of the rocks on the shore it was on. It looked towards where the path was heading and moved, following the beaten path, sometimes feeling a few blades of grass that dotted the path.

While on the walk, it looked around, to see what kind of place it was in. It seemed to be a forest, the trunks of the trees are solid, and the leaves and branches gave shade. It looked up and see the sky in between the branches and leaves of the trees as the rays of light of the star of day shone passed through them. It was peaceful, and to it, it was simply beautiful.

It kept walking down the road, peacefully taking in the surroundings. And before long it came across a clearing, a wide road. And it seems like it is not gonna be by itself much longer if the sounds it was hearing meant something. Looking towards the sound's source. It was a single carriage heading towards him.
