2 Million

At the front gates of Biscord High, the early morning sun shined, and the spring breeze drifted by as the students and faculty entered.

One gym teacher waved his disciplinary stick around and screamed at the students, "Hey you! Fix your uniform! You, it's uncouth to be eating while walking! You! pull up your pants!" He continued on and on with such comments, scolding the many students as they arrived.

The school bus Jack was on finally arrived at the school's nearby bus stop. Jack looked out the window and was confused at the scene while waiting to exit the bus.

'How the hell did these people make it here before I did? God d*mn slow *ss bus… ' he cursed in thought while making a fist.

Julie looked at him and asked, "whats wrong?"

"I thought I'd be among the first ones to arrive, but there are so many people here already!" Jack scowled.

"Ha ha ha, oh… " Julie was taken aback, 'what a weirdo… '

Jack put Julie's giant bag on his back with some effort, at the same time Julie reached out to stop him and said, "W-wait, I can do it myself!"

Jack stopped her and smiled, "no no, we're friends now. Let me help you."

Julie was so grateful, she said, "Thanks, Jack." as she blushed.

They walked side by side into the school grounds while getting to know each other. He told her that he had just moved to the city by himself, and was glad to have met a new friend so soon. Julie was surprised that he lived by himself in such a big city, while she lived at home. She began telling him her story.

Julie Symphony was from a lower-middle class family. She lived with her parents above their bakery. Business wasn't so great, so she was diligently studying to become a world-class baker to revive her family business.

After hearing her story, Jack was impressed that this little girl was trying her best to help her family's business.

"What's in this bag anyway? Why is it so big?" asked Jack.

"Oh, just some of my culinary tools, this and that, some girl's stuff. You know, the basics, hehe… " she answered while counting her fingers, trying to list some of the things she had packed into her bag.

"Doesn't the school provide tools?" Jack asked curiously.

"They do, but you have to pay extra in the tuition, so to save money, I decided to bring my own! Smart, right?" Julie proudly answered.

"Oh my god… you're a genius! Why didn't I think of that, I could've saved some money… " Jack was surprised at first, but then spoke in a soft tone of disappointment; disappointed in himself unable to make better financial decisions for himself.

"Ha ha ha! Of course! Frugal is my middle name!" Julie once again proudly said, as she puffed up her chest high in the air and her eyes sparkled.

Jack looked at her in admiration, he thought that he was quite good at financial planning. But to think that Julie was much more in-depth with finances than he was, surprised him.

They hadn't noticed how beautiful their surrounding was as they continued to walk and chat. Jack and Julie were lost in their own world right now, the world of friendship. There were many different trees symmetrically apart from each other, and lush green fields of grass planted throughout the entire school grounds. As they continued on their way toward the school, they heard a sudden announcement: "All freshmen students must report to the gymnasium for orientation! I repeat: all freshmen students must report to the gymnasium for orientation!"

After hearing the announcement, Jack looked confused and asked, "which way is the gymnasium?"

"I've got the map in my bag, turn around," said Julie as she rummaged through her bag after Jack turned around.

"Here it is, let's see… we're here, so… this way!" she pointed.

After a few minutes, they arrived at Biscord High gymnasium. There were hundreds of freshmen students with more arriving each minute. There was a small stage with a podium in the middle with a huge board on the left.

When the clock struck 7 on the dot, the principal got up on the podium and greeted the new freshmen, "Welcome to Biscord High. My name is Alexander Grant, your principal."

As soon as he said principal, the students cheered with whistles and screams. The whole gymnasium was in an uproar welcoming the principal.

"Haha thank you, thank you! Such lively cheers from these freshmen. I hope you all find happiness in our school," the principal announced before leaving the podium.

Another person walked up to the microphone after and announced some instructions, "Hello, my name is May Grant, your Student Council President. If you have any questions, please refer to your student handbook that is currently being given out to all freshmen students at the table on my left. And on my right, this is the board for freshmen students and their homeroom classes. Please lineup promptly and receive your student handbooks and head to your classrooms. That is all."

All of the students scrambled around to the left or the right of the gymnasium. Jack and Julie was no exception. Homeroom rollcall was at 8 AM, so everyone had just under an hour to get to their homerooms on time for roll call. To their surprise, it was very organized. Student Council members were on both sides, directing the students and making sure there was no chaos.

After a long while, Jack was able to obtain a copy of his student handbook and his homeroom information. He immediately found Julie nearby and approached her while waving one of his arms in the air.

"Julie! What homeroom are you in?" Jack excitedly asked.

"Um, 1-A. How about you?" she answered and asked.

"1-F! I wonder what the letters mean… " he answered.

"No clue… anyway, let's go before we're late," Julie said.

Jack nodded, and the two headed for their respective homerooms located in the main building.

Jack was talking to Julie while facing her as they walked. When they had reached the gymnasium's entrance...

BUMP

Someone bumped into Jack's chest and fell to the ground.

"Oww! Who the h*ll?!" screamed the fallen girl with her sunglasses misplaced on her face revealing one of her eyes.

"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry! Let me help you up!" Jack quickly said and immediately approached her to help her up.

The girl was in pain and felt embarrassed. As Jack reached his hand out, she slapped it away.

SLAP

"How dare you! A commoner like you to knock me down, and try to touch the great me?! Servants! Save me!" she screamed.

All of the students in the area stopped what they were doing and turned in the direction of the screams.

"Isn't that… " murmured one student in the crowd.

"Oh my, did he beat her up?" whispered another.

"Oh no, he's done it now… that's the famous 'princess,'" another student said.

More of such words were passed around between the crowd.

Soon, a group of men in suits gathered to help her up. Two controlled the crowd, making sure no one approached them. One other stepped in front of Jack and stopped his approach, while the fourth man gently picked up the girl.

Jack was quite flustered by the screams and the appearance of these bodyguards, but he didn't feel that he did anything wrong. He ignored the bodyguard and said, "Miss, I'm sorry for not looking where I'm going. But, you also have eyes and should've watched where you were going."

"You! Argh! My dress!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. She saw red, all reason was out the window.

"I'll wash it for you!" said Jack, trying to resolve the problem.

"Wash? You think you can just 'wash' this dress with your filthy commoner hands?!"

"I-I'll buy you a new one then!"

"Buy? You think you can just 'buy' this dress with your commoner income?!"

"It's just a dress, how much could it be?" Jack asked.

The girl raised a V in the air with her hand, and screamed "Two big ones!"

"Two hundred dollars?!" he cried out.

"What?! Two million dollars you peasant!"

Jack nearly fainted upon hearing the amount, and his entire being shook in fear.

"I-I-I c-can p-p-pay in in-in-in-s-s-stallments!" he groaned with his head hung low.
