Well, this is it. Hallowed Sabres is finished. this was a long time coming since I started first writing the novel and I'm glad to have it done and dusted. So, let me explain a few of my inspirations for the story and some hopes about the future of my writing.
Hallowed Sabres was always planned as the third book and final book before I wrote 'Promise of Champions.' What that story is is a crossover between Magic Bullets, Heist at the Grand Spire and Hallowed Sabres, featuring characters from each. Though before I ever started writing it, it was simply known as the 'Two Kingdom War Story' in my notes.
I had the magic system already created for the world. And though i've explored it a lot in this novel, there are nuances seen at some points (especially at the end) that I'd love to elaborate on when I return to the world. The nations I made and the backdrop of the story came naturally as I developed them. I wanted to create a conflict between nations that would let me write large scale battles and experiment with certain styles that I hadn't before.

My previous works had multiple povs, certainly, but this one was where I truly focused on creating multiple threads of a story for each of the individual characters. Hopefully it was somewhat of a success. Which leads me onto my main inspiration for the story.
It's no secret that a lot of what happens in this novel is inspired in part by Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archives. Those books are phenomenal epic fantasy and I wanted to invoke the same feeling through my work on Hallowed Sabres. Afterburners are just my take on Windrunners, with Ironman's flight. Avatar the Last Airbender is also another huge inspiration, as I pictured them while writing Galeon and Rozu's chapters. Other than that, there are many more stories that I'm sure were stuck in the back of my brain while I was plotting out the novel.
Now, for the future. I plan on making Promise of Champions a long story. A singularly contained story, of course, but I want it to be upwards of around 400k words. This is me stretching the limits of how big I can make a novel. I don't think I'll be able to finish it within the year like my other works, but i will try. Before I get to work ironing out the details of that story, I will be taking a small break to write something more marketable to Royalroad. I've had an idea for an apocalyptic Litrpg that I might try out, so stay tuned for that.
