Chapter Three – Cultivation and Devouring the Universe
It’s been a few days since the fight against the Boar; I have been sighting more and more life every day. Some hours ago I discovered some tracks…it seems like someone has been scouting around here.
‘I am tracking these people for hours and nothing…’
While thinking I heard voices in front of me, speeding through the trees and stopping behind a tree near a clearing where four
figures were sitting around a fire pit, it was too dark and I couldn’t see them clearly.
‘I need to be careful; I don’t know if they are hostiles…I will judge the situation first, if they are hostiles I won’t make contact’- I
thought
Crouching down to avoid detection and focusing my hearing, trying to listen what they were saying to determine if they were
hostiles.
They were talking in an ancient language that I never heard but surprisingly I could understand it, as if this was my native language
“I heard that some of those abominations of the outer region of the Dead Forest attacked some villages, everything that remained were dead bodies” – Soldier 1 ( Captain)
“We need to finish our task quickly, these past few days those monsters are becoming more and more active, so the Kingdom dispatched us, ordinary soldiers to deal with it…fuck we will all die here, captain is the only third rate warrior amongst us”- Soldier 2
“The Kingdom is preparing for war, they can’t spend resources here...in the far north, so they can’t send powerful soldiers to this region…simply, we are just expendable resources to the Kingdom” – Soldier 3
Hearing this I concluded that they are soldiers from some kingdom around here, and those creatures I killed in the Dead Forest are massacring near villages, it seems like these guys are not hostiles, and I don’t know anything around here, I will have to make contact
I came out from the tree and walked towards them, this time I could clearly see the group, they wore black plate armor and helmets, so I couldn’t figure out their genders or appearances.
Accidentally I stepped on a branch that made some noise, hearing the noise the soldiers were alarmed and each of them took position forming a circle around the fire pit, with shields lifted and swords readied. The Soldier 1 who was in front shouted
“Who is there?” – Soldier 1
I think this soldier is their captain…whatever, I don’t care; calmly I entered in the range of the fire pit light so that they could see me, the Soldier 1 looked at me through his helmet and asked.
“Who are you, Kid?”- Soldier 1 ( Captain)
“What are you doing here kid? This is not the best area to make a tour”- Captain
Why did he call me Kid? I don’t remember being a kid….maybe when I crossed over I changed bodies….Hm, I don’t know I didn’t try looking my appearance…I will confirm it later, I will just go with the flow and create a history that I had amnesia.
“I don’t remember anything….Sorry”
The captain looked at me suspiciously, after seconds of silence he sighed and lowered his sword

The captain took out his helmet and to my surprise it was an old man, he had white hair and blue eyes, a scar stretched from his eyebrow until his throat, but what caught my attention was the pressure he emanate, in this advanced age he seems to have the power that I had when I was in the peak.
The old man sat down again near the fire pit, following suit I sat beside him and looked curiously at him, as if sensing it the old man looked at me confused. Taking advantage that I gained his attention I asked
“Hey... How are you so strong at such an advanced age?”
The captain looked at me shocked as if I asked the most stupid question of the world, but after some thought he seriously answered.
“I forgot that you had amnesia…Ok, listen closely everything in this world have Divine Energy even if in a negligible amount. Every living being can absorb Divine Energy to strengthen themselves, we are called Cultivators…but those who can advance in the Cultivations Stages are just a few, luck and talent are necessary to succeed. The Cultivators are divided in stages based on their strength.
Third Rate Warrior you need 500 Jin to 2.000 Jin of strength ( 1 jin = 0,5 kg)
Second Rate Warrior: 2.000 Jin to 10.000 Jin
First Rate Warrior: 10.000+ Jin
And there is the Innate Realm, I don’t know much about this stage but every Kingdom has at least one of them”- Captain
I memorized each word and engraved it in my soul..this world seems interesting…but a question lingered in my head.
“So…How can I absorb this energy?”
The captain gave a minute of thought and answered
“There are techniques to absorb the energy…The Revolving Techniques, these techniques are divided in: Low-grade, Medium-grade, High-grade, with each grade the amount of energy you can absorb grows. If you enter the army you can receive low grade revolving technique, and if you can climb ranking on the army you can even receive medium-grade revolving techniques” -Captain
“And the higher-grade Revolving techniques how can I receive them?”
The captain madly laughed hearing my question
“The higher Revolving techniques are hereditary, just major families have them or if you have luck and stumble in a legacy” – Captain
“Thanks…You helped a lot”
“No Problem.”- Captain
After answering my questions the captain leaned on a tree and slept…Satisfied with my answers I took a place under another tree and sat cross legged.
“I didn’t have time to practice master’s legacy since I came to this world…”
Sitting cross legged, I started practicing my master’s Technique ‘Devouring the Universe’, imagining planets, suns, galaxies, comets, the whole universe. All of sudden I felt large amounts of a calm and pure energy entering me at a rapid speed, spreading through all my body even my blood.
In my previous world there was indeed this energy…but it wasn’t near this quantity and quality. After some time I entered in an ethereal state, where time wasn’t important.
