Chapter 8 - The Day to Be

Chapter 8 - The Day to Be

It was early in the morning when an ANBU appeared on my window.

*Knock Knock*

I groggily sat up and walked up to the window and opened it. Trying to get out of that maze yesterday almost took all day. Didn't get to finish anything I wanted to, and with the curfew for the orphanage. I couldn't do anything else but go home.

"Ugh.. What do you want?" I asked

"The Hokage wishes to speak with you."

"Alright, alright. Let me get ready."

Took about five minutes to get dressed in my new yukata, and strap on my holster with weapons. Thank you Hokage for the spending money.

"Alright, ready."

He grabbed my shoulder and I felt a rapid pull. I blinked out the disorientation to see we were in the Hokage's office.

"You have to teach me that!" That was awesome. Teleportation? I didn't know they had something like that.

"Body-Flicker? That'll take some time. But that's not why I called you here, Gris." The Hokage said.

"If it has something to do with Danzo. I'll just let you know, that was his own fault."

"Danzo? You spoke with him?" He narrowed his eyes. "And what did you do to him?"

"Well, he was trying to recruit me, and got a little handzy in his endeavor, so I alleviated the problem."

"Recruit you for what, Gris? He was ordered to disband ROOT. Don't tell me that's it."

"That's what he said it was."

"Damn it, Danzo... Alright, Gris, I'll handle it. But let's get back on topic." He didn't seem okay at all. His face showed some betrayal.

"Gris, I need for you to put off going to the Academy for a while."

"What? Why? I'm super excited about this, you know?"

"I know, Gris, but I need you to enter at the same time as Naruto. I need you to protect him."

"Is this about the Tailed-Beast inside him? If that's what you're worried about, it isn't there anymore."

"WHAT?! What do you mean!?"

"Well, I kind of took it." I gave a nervous giggle.

"You took it!? Gris, do you have any idea what you've done? Is he still alive?!"

"Ofcourse he is. I wouldn't kill anyone for something like this."

"Gris, explain." He demanded.

'Umm, inner me? Is there a way to explain this?'

'Just show him your tails.'

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

'I have tails?!'

'Ofcourse, you do. Or you wouldn't be a tailed-beast. Just will them out.'

'I'm noticing a trend with this whole 'will' thing.'

I closed my eyes and focused on having tails or something. I'm not sure what exactly I'm suppose to do, but I guess it'll work out. I opened my eyes to see a surprised Hokage and three battle ready ANBU.

"Woah, woah. I'm not going to attack anyone. Can we put the weapons away." I said. Turning around to observe my tails, there was ten of them and nine of them looked like fox tails, makes sense, while the last one looked like... a monkey tail?

"I-I'm not understanding, Gris. Why do you have tails?"

"Ta-da! I'm a tailed-beast! Or a remnant of one, I guess."

He gave a long, drawn out groan. "This is going to be a political mess. Am I going to be able to understand how you extracted the Nine-Tails without killing Naruto?"

"Well, I don't understand either, so probably not." I gave a weak smile.

"Do you still want me to wait and protect Naruto?" I asked.

"Yes... yes, I do. No one but us in this room know he isn't a Jinchūriki anymore. Alright, Dog, Boar, and Eagle. This is a S-class secret. This is to not spread to anyone."

"Well, if you want me to protect him. Shouldn't I still get some training?"

"Yes, I plan on putting you through ANBU training. If you agree, ofcourse. I'll try to not become like Danzo on this one."

"That sounds exciting. Are they like assasins or something?"

"That could be one of their possible assignments, along with protecting me and high-class targets. Show up at training ground 19. Someone will be there to pick you up."

...

After leaving the tower, I decided to check up on Naruto. He's a smart kid, already calls me "Gri". It's cute.

"Hey, Naruto-chan." He was sitting in the corner of the room by himself, away from the other children.

"Shouldn't someone be watching you?" I hate these bastards. First objective, fire everyone at the orphanage, hire whole new staff.

"Yeah, that's what I'll do." I grinned to myself.

I spent a couple hours playing with Naruto, making faces and saying words obnoxiously, so maybe he'll pick them up. After that, I went on a walk around town. I saw some Academy kids doing some kind of spar. Two kids with black hair, one with short spikey hair, the other with two pointed bangs coming down on each side of his face. Bangs kid looked pretty young compared to the other, but seemed to be keeping pace with the other.

"You can do it, Itachi!" Yelled a blonde haired boy from the sidelines. He wasn't alone, but seemed the most vocal.

I walked up to them to see if I could join in. Sucks having an appearance of a nine year old. Have to hang out with kids.

"Whats up, guys?" They turned around to me, the blonde kid immediately went wide eyed.

"H-hello?" He said with a blush. Awww, youth. I smiled at him.

"Mind if I get into the next round, ummm..."

"Daichi. Daichi Hachirou." He said while looking down.

"Nice to meet you, Daichi-san. I'm Gris." He looked up at me while grumbling something about first names.

A boy to his right with long silver hair in a ponytail and grey eyes spoke up with a smile.

"Nice to meet you, also, Gris-san. I'm Hideaki Akimichi."

"Aww! An Akimichi, do you have a dog?"

"Not yet, I'll be getting him in a year or two. His name is Boz, but he isn't allowed to travel around with me yet."

"Cool." I said with a smile. The third kid didn't seem interested in conversing. He was focusing on the spar, so I decided to follow his example.

It surprised me by how young they are, but the ability being shown is impressive. Must be the talented group.

"Itachi is the top of our class. The one with the bangs. Shisiu is older but still has a tough time with him. They're both Uchihas."

"Aww, the ones with crazy eyes."

He busted out laughing. "Hahaha, crazy eyes, that sounds about right!"

The fight was a series of back of forth with an occasional ninjustu. A lot of fire, I noticed. It ended with Shisui winning with a kunai stuck to Itachi's throat.

"Got you, again, Itachi. You're getting close though, you little monster." He smiled down at the young boy.

"Hn." The young boy grunted.

They started walking back to the rest of the group, all the while staring at me curiously.

"And who would this be?" Shisiu asked while smiling.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Gris." I said with a slight bow.

"I'm Shisiu Uchiha. This is Itachi, same last name." He gave me a playful wink.

"Hn." The younger Uchiha grunted.

"You don't like the talk much, huh?" I asked.

"Hn." He grunted back... This one's going to be difficult.

"Hahaha, don't worry about it, Gris-san. I think he likes you already!" Shisiu said... I seriously doubt that.

"So, I noticed you guys sparring and I was wondering if I could join in." I said.

"Are you in the Academy, Gris-san?"

"I was suppose to start today, but the Hokage told me to wait on it."

"The Hokage? I don't mind, but have you had some training already? Also, can I ask... umm, about the horns?"

"Sure, I don't mind. I was told they're a bloodline" Easiest way to explain. "And no, I have not had any combat training yet."

"A bloodline? Do they do anything?" This guy is a curious one, huh.

"They poke you."

"..."

He busted out laughing, almost killing over onto the ground. I just smiled at everyone.

He tried to supress his laugh. "Alright, maybe Yuki-chan should spar with you. She has the least experience out of us, but is still pretty strong."

"Yuki-chan? Where is she?" I asked. Shisiu gestured to the last member, that didn't introduce themself.

"Wait... SHE?" She is so handsome! Short purple hair with light, almost white, blue eyes. A delicate face to match.

"Yeah, yeah. I get that a lot." She said.

"Sorry. Well, Yuki-chan. I'm Gris. Nice to meet you." She looked baffled that I called her Yuki-chan. This world and it's wierd way of addressing people...

She blushed. "N-nice to meet you too, Gris.. chan?"

I smiled at her. "That works."

I spent the rest of the day getting my ass handed to me. I learned brute strength doesn't help if you can't hit anything. I could of cheated and manipulated the chakra, but that didn't sound fun.

"*Huff*... *Huff* Gris-chan, you're...*Huff* stamina... is crazy." Yuki said.

"I know, but I still couldn't hit you." I pouted

She got her breathe under control before speaking. "It'll just take some training, and that stamina will be a good advantage." This girl is too serious.

"Yea, it is for sure impressive. Not even I can last that long." Shisiu said, while the others nodded along.

"Are you guys going to be here tomorrow also?" I asked.

"Not tomorrow, but most likely the day after." Shisiu said.

"Mind if I join in again?"

"Sure! See you all tomorrow, and Gris-chan, you the day after."

Everybody said their goodbyes and we left our seperate ways.

'Today was fun'
