A woman in a green jacket ran through the forest as rain poured down. Each step she took in the mud made a loud splat. She looked back while running and tripped over a tree branch, falling hard. Turning her head, she saw nothing behind her.
Until...
Splat.
Out of nowhere, a three-toed footprint appeared. No one was there, but the footprints kept getting closer.
Scrambling, the woman started running again. Spotting a cabin she ran towards it, quickly opening and shutting the door behind her. She pushed herself against the door, expecting the thing to start pounding, but it never did. She stayed still for a while before finding a chair to wedge under the doorknob.
Then she looked around the cabin.
Splat.
A small splat was heard, but the rain drowned out most of the noise. The muddy footprints drew closer and closer to the woman.
When the woman saw a mirror, she moved towards it and looked at her reflection. Suddenly, a black, demon-like creature appeared behind her in the mirror.
A loud scream pierced through the sound of the rain.

Looking at the lights passing by on the highway I tried to focus and get some sleep however, that seemed impossible due to the lights as well as the seat. With a sigh, I pulled out my phone and started playing a fantasy tower defense game to pass the time.
As I cleared the 134th level, the car stopped. I looked outside to see my new house. It wasn't anything special, but it would be home for the foreseeable future. Getting out of the car, I grabbed my bag from the trunk. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a cat.
Turning my head, I suddenly saw a giant shadow. It was humanoid in shape however the shadow had giant bat-like wings and two horns on its head.
"AH!?" But when I blinked again, it was just a regular shadow of the cat.
"Ugh, I need some sleep," I muttered, pinching my brows.
Turning my gaze to the house, my brow twitched.

"Seriously?"
This house was pretty big. It stood tall and inviting, it was painted blue with white trim framing the windows and roof edges, adding a crisp, clean touch. The roof was steep, with several peaks and angles, covered in weathered gray shingles.
Wide windows dotted both the first and second floors, letting in the moonlight and offering views of the surroundings. A spacious porch wrapped around the front while the porch roof was lower and less steep.
However, despite that the atmosphere around the house made it look haunted as if I was in one of those horror movies.
Yet my mom seemed to be happy as a bright smile was on her face.
Looking back at the house of horrors I made one wish.
‘Please don’t be home to a soul-sucking demon’
Crossing my fingers I watched as my mom opened the door and entered. The house itself was dark causing me to gulp.
However, my mom turned on the lights “Come in Rowan, you don’t wanna sleep outside do you?”
Entering the house I expected the floor to creak but thankfully it didn’t. Looking around the house I was pretty impressed.
In front of me was a set of stairs while on the right was a living room. I could see if you went farther in that there was a kitchen. However, the left side was completely empty along with the living room and stuff.
“I’ll go take my room,” I said while making my way up the stairs.
Looking at the five bedrooms I decided to take the room that looked over the backyards which also had the forest. Putting down my futon I then made my way back downstairs while scrolling through my phone.
Using my mom’s hot stop I started to do some research on the town. However, as I was about to search I heard a movement behind me.
“Uh,” I then made my way downstairs but then I suddenly saw a black cat.
“Oh hey there…”
Judging by the no-collar and blue-green eyes I knew this was the same cat from outside but how did it manage that?
I quickly backed away.
‘Please don’t be a demon, please don’t be a demon, please don’t be a demon’
“Mom,” I called for my mom which caused the cat’s ears to twitch.
My mom then came back and noticed the cat “Oh hey there little guy what are you doing here?” she then picked the cat who didn’t seem to react.
“Uh it was just there when I turned around,” I said
“Oh, it must have come in when we were bringing our stuff,” Putting the cat down, she led out of the house.
My mom used to be a vet so I wasn’t surprised that she was scared of the cat however, the cat gave me the chills as I remembered its shadow.
Closing the door, I made my way downstairs, Looking at the empty kitchen.
Most of our stuff would be coming tomorrow so we would have to eat out today.
We ordered a pizza so I decided to look stuff up about this town.
Grimshaw Creed was a town located in Manitoba while its closest neighbor was the town of Dauphin. However, I then read some of the articles about this town.
Turns out a lot of stuff happened here. For example, a few days ago a woman was found in the forest unconscious and was in a coma. The weird part about all of this was that this was the 5th person that was found in the forest in this state in these past three weeks.
‘This is really giving me the shivers’
However, then another then another article caught my eye.
