Chapter 4: The real world

Chapter 4: The real world

"Let's talk about the lost kingdoms. Thanks to their young adults returning their technology is evolving at an incredible pace. We cannot secretly watch over them for our entertainment anymore."

A female anchor talks on a show being broadcasted throughout the city. "They aren't trapped in the past and are being catapulted into our level of society.”

“I am sure you all know that the lost kingdoms were found a little over fifty years ago. Also that they were deemed worthless to improve and would suit better to be secretly watched for our entertainment. The societies that we found via drones through uncharted areas was still in the middle ages.”

“The real question isn't if they are going to find out about us, but how they will react with their new found power. We will have to be looking into this issue for years to come, but as of right now they seem to preoccupied with conquering each other."

"In other news one of the first returnees Hiro reveals his future plans for him and his fellow returnees in a exclusive interview from yours truly."

-Sounds interesting, but I gotta head to my next job. If what he said is correct if I cut behind this alleyway I should save a couple minutes.-

The familiar blue haired red eyed kid runs into an empty alleyway but then his body is surrounded by a familiar yet hated light. Right after that the feeling of nearly puking after your wildest roller coaster ride overwhelms him.

______________________________________________________________________________

In a barely lit room a normal looking old man and a young lady wearing a crimson red robe with the hood down revealing her fiery red hair. She is probably not even 16 yet.

"Did it work?" A young lady with fire like red hair eagerly asks the elderly old man.

"I don't know, but don't you have somewhere to be?" The old man asks wearily to the energetic girl.

"But elder, I want to be one of the first people to see our new hero." She complains to the elder in her annoyingly child like voice.

"No buts! Now go child." After she leaves Ghost is immediately summoned the very same room that they were arguing in.

-Huh, I thought that it was impossible to be summoned again and this doesn't look like the same place as last time.-

"Old man are you ok? Old man! I'm sorry did I shock you suddenly appearing?" An older man suddenly falls to the ground after seeing who he summoned in the end.

The old man slowly awakens. "It's ok youngster don't worry about me. You just reminded me of a demon that just recently destroyed most of my disciple’s race."

"Umm, did that demon use blood magic?" Ghost askes noticing familiar yet much longer ears like the unknown.

"Yes, how'd you know?"

"Did that race have shorter ears than you but longer than a average human?"

"... You are the demon aren't you. Great I copied the monsters magic circle and get the exact same results.”

“I don't know what I was expecting. This was a exact replica of the original that was used to summon you. Kill me now and finish your job I guess, devil."

"Wait! Why would I kill a harmless old man. I killed the unknown because they were attacking the kingdom that I was summoned to."

"Attacking! Ha, they didn't want to attack but the 'king of the world' said that all we had was his property. If my disciple didn't fight back they would've been wiped out!”

“He started the war, he shed the first blood, and when things got bad for him he summoned you to turn the war around."

Ghost seems to skeptical at best at the thought of him being summoned to clean up a mess the king made.

"No way that king may have been arrogant, but I don't see him, the ruler of such a prosperous kingdom, purposely starting a war that he wasn't sure that he could win."

"Prosperous! My boy did you even look at any of the cities or villages?"

"Just the capital and one other village that was about to be attacked why?"

"Then you might of misunderstood something about this world during your short visit. Here take this."

He hands him the same mask that the leader of the unknown was wearing. "You're going to be my new disciple and fix the wrong that you caused."

"Wait, how do I know you are telling the truth. For all I know you could be the one that is lying!"

"How about this. You take that mask with you and go find who is really telling the truth.”

“I get the whole find out what the truth is myself, but why do I have to wear a mask that will put a target on my back?”

“Also, here wear this.” He gives him a pitch black cloak.

“Your features are famous. A young blue haired red eye kid. Anyone would recognize you as their hero and would of course treat you differently. You want to see the real world, so you will have to hide your identity of course.”

“Fine, I will wear these, but only until I'm sure that this world is how I thought it was.”

“The cloak has a rare enchantment to increase its weight till the user can barely move. As you wear it you will have some of your basic training down for being my disciple, as you are right now you're far too weak to learn from me.”

“It will be good all around training, but I don't recommend wearing that twenty four seven. While, you have to wear it in public to hide your identity try not to anger anyone.”

“If you get attacked while wearing it you're pretty much doomed even if you manage to take it off, because you will be exhausted. If you run into a problem then you can turn off the effect for a short time.”

“Thank you for this precious gift. Question you copied the kings summoning circle?”

“We have spies in his capital who gave me a miniature copy of it and I recreated it full size. It's a nasty circle.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“I’ll tell you more after your my true disciple can't give away all my secrets to someone who can turn any second can I?”

“True, I'm surprised that you even mentioned that you have a spy in the capital capable of copying a magic circle.”

“That was a slip of the tongue, but there isn't really anything that I think we should hide from you.”

“The only reason why I decided to hide things from you is because my fellow clansmen will be mad at me for telling you everything by myself."

"Are you sure that it's ok for me to just leave without even seeing anyone. I am the one that you summoned, so I guess I'm a hero in their eyes."

"It's fine. It will make them think that you are undergoing secret training just for them."

"Well I guess I'll be off."

-He sure is a nice old man. Kind of reminds me of Liz, but please be trying to trick me. I don't know how I am going to handle it if I really was killing innocents instead of invaders.-

He puts on the cloak to see how heavy it really is and nearly falls over due to the weight.

-He wasn't kidding about the weight!-

He immediately take it off, because he can't even move with it on.

- I should probably have asked for a map before leaving or at least directions to the nearest city.Oh well, thankfully we aren't in the middle of a forest.-

Just open plains not a tree in sight. All there is is grass.

“Ah, the air here feels great back on earth it's starting to feel too polluted. I heard that people were not only brought to magic kingdom's like this but highly advanced civilisations as well.”

“I wonder why they had they had the need to take someone from a less advance world and bring them to a more advanced world.”

The ground starts to shake violently. -Earthquake?- A hill shoots up into the sky. Instant mountains?

Then the hill starts to shake revealing a hill sized snail. With a earthen shell.

-Where is some salt when you need it.-

“Wow it's so big. Be a good giant snail and please don't attack me. I don’t want to hurt you.” The snail’s right eye come crashing down at Ghost.

Blood starts shooting out from the inside of Ghost’s cloak turning into a blood barrier. The blood barrier blocks the eye three inches away from his head.

Then he send some blood below it and transform it into a spike. “There we go that should of pierced its heart. Or not.”

The other eye comes crashing down and collides with his blood barrier shattering it. The eye looks like it's hardened with earth magic.

“Why didn't that spike kill it. I could've sworn I was aiming for its heart. Lets try this again. Oh so that's why.”

He creates a blood bullet and then shoots it at the snail’s left lung. But, it can't pierce the snails slippery skin. “Strange, let's try this again.”

He fires off another but this time making it spin as fast as it can go. “Bingo.” It pierces and then explodes in the snails lung killing it.

“The snails is leaking acid just like I thought. He got rid of all the blood that was below him before I could use it to pierce him. I think it's a he. I hope this plain isn’t filled with these.”

He continues walking eventually seeing a town with spiked wood walls surrounding it.

“You over there. Yes you.” A guard on top of a wooden barricade yells at him. “How are you alive?”

-Does he think that I'm the leader from before, or could he have somehow recognized that I'm the hero because I’m not wearing my cloak.-

“What do you mean by that good sir? Is it not normal for one to be alive?”

“The place you just left from is known as the plains of agony. It might not be as big as the infinite desert or the forest, but the odds of you surviving in there is less than one percent.”

“It tricks the travelers into thinking that it is a peaceful place, but in reality under the surface of the tranquil plain is filled with monsters that bury themselves.”

The guards face turn pale, while he is thinking about the terrors of the plain. ”The most frightening of them has a shell on its back and two long eyes that slams down on you.”

“There has been rumors of another beast equal to it but only our king has lived in the plains long enough to even see the first beast. Not even he will use it as a shortcut. So I shall repeat myself how are you alive?”

“Even with that new information, I still don’t know the answer to your question. I simply walked through the plains. No monsters decided to attack me and here I am. I thought that there was no monsters and it was a peaceful place.”

“You’re lying there once anyone sets a foot the monsters territory they immediately attack. No matter who you are.”

“Well I guess I got lucky. Can I enter this village. Also what is it's name as you probably guessed I got lost and don’t know where I am.”

“Well, dwarf this city’s name is Derhum. I don’t know how one of you kind has gotten so far away from home, but you may enter as long as you don’t cause any trouble ok?”

“Yes sir, I wasn’t planning on causing any trouble just seeing around and learning about your culture. I am on a journey to find myself and I think seeing other people's way of life will help me find it. I guess me getting lost was a guide to this village.”

The guards face looks confused then gives up and returns to normal. “Weird but whatever you say. You look a little weird for a dwarf, but I guess that's why you are finding yourself.”

“There isn’t much to see here anymore. Everything changed after the hunters found better places to train in the forest then here.”

“This used to be a big gathering place for nobles wanting to train their guards and children in magic against monsters.”

“You never knew when one might decide to attack back then. Now with the new alert technology it is less of a problem.”

“I see that's good. Well I will be off it was nice talking to you.”

“Don’t make me have to drag you into our special jail.”

“I promise you I don’t want to see that part of the town.”

-Maybe I should keep pretending to be a dwarf throughout the rest of my travels. A eleven year old kid traveling alone will look suspicious no matter wherever you are. Luckily my voice seems to be the only thing that has became more adult like.-

The inside of the town is poor. The houses, if you can call them that, are made out of straw. They look even worse than Liz’s.

The streets are littered with various trash, maybe even feces. The stench that is coming out of the village would make anyone with a weak stomach hurl.

-God what is this stench. It is almost as bad as the smell from the first battle. How could a city look this bad. It is called a city, so villages have to be worse right? The village that I went to a little better than this.-

“Excuse me ma’am.” Ghost decides to ask a older lady, since he has always been better around the older folk.

“Yes young lad?”

“Has this town always been this bad?”

“Oh no. Believe it or not, this town was actually a lot nicer. Back when the nobles still came to hunt and practice it was a wonderful place.”

“There was regulations on just about everything and even many different types of stores.” She seems to be reminiscing about the wonderful past and why she ended up retiring here.

“After they left it was still ok, but a year ago the king suddenly stopped caring about the world. He has never left his castle ever since.”

“Without the king giving us a little bit of leeway with the nobles the taxes shot up and no one could do anything about it. We lost the little money and items we owned. I lost most of my retirement money and had to get a job again.”

“The only good thing that came out of it was using the unknown to figure out if a monster will attack or not. That's how they survived in the forest. They can tell if a monster is going to attack them or not if they stay in a place for a long enough time. It's a weird ability really.”

“Thank you. I think that you have given me more information than I was hoping for. I hope that this town can return to its former glory. So, the remnants of the unknown that the hero decided not to harm became slaves?”

“What are you talking about? The hero killed every unknown that he fought against. He wasn't a benevolent hero. I don’t know what the dwarves know about him, but he cold heartedly killed every single unknown that went against him.”

“The forts that was attacked and defended three times by him had its name changed to the blood fort, because of how much blood was spilled trying to take it. The hero used also blood magic, so the people who stayed in the fort thought it was a good tribute to the nameless hero.”

I can feel Ghosts rage at the fact that the common folk view him as such a vicious figure. Of the commoners view him like this then it's hard to imagine how the unknown feel.

“What I heard was that the hero was on a revenge quest, because the unknown took someone precious from him.”

He tries his best to change the people's view on him even though nothing will change and he'll probably go down in history as a devil.

“I also heard that he was a kind hero that protected the people near the fort and helped them reach it before the unknown army came down on them.”

“He personally fought against the enemy leader instead using the forts army to save lives.”

“Well this city isn’t exactly the best place to find information, so you may be right. But, what I said I think everyone here in Derhum will say if you ask about the hero.”

“He wasn’t a kind hero that would protect the weak. I also never heard of another person being brought here besides him.”

Ghost seems to have given up on changing their outlook of him after she mentioned that his sister didn't exist.

The only one that can change how the commonwealth view him is the king.

“Well my information also doesn’t have a way to be one hundred percent true. The only person who knows exactly what really happened is the hero and only him. What we know for sure is he saved the blood fort and the rest of the kingdom.”

“I don’t know maybe he shouldn’t have saved us. We don’t know what the unknown would of done to us, but the nobles in the capital have been the only ones that are living happily.”

“They get to live without worry and have hobbies. They don't really have to work they can have anything they want.”

“Well it is not like they were always like that, right?”

Ghosts hidden rage almost exploded out after she mentioned that what he did might of been useless. The unknown still ended up massacring the various villages they came across!

“Well with the enslavement of the unknown they had to do even less work. Back when we didn't know if a monster would attack a town the guards were mandated to have one mage with them. A mage of course is automatically a wealthy individual, so they did have a job to do.”

As shown by Sophia barely becoming a noble it doesn't automatically make you a noble of you can cast some spells. The people of this town probably think a mage is automatically a noble because of how expensive it is.

“But, now that the unknown have taken away the need to have watches for monsters the nobles don’t have a real job in any of the villages.”

“So, they don’t live in any of the villages anymore and only live in places that they deemed worthy of their presence.”

“Since they aren't living in any of the villages they don't care about how bad it is here anymore and raised taxes."

She smiles weakly and then continues. "The king was once a great man who stood up for the poor, because he wasn’t born as the crown prince.”

It is strange that a society with such strong power has a hereditary royalty instead of a  strong rule over the weak.

“He worked his way to the top. We all respected him for that, but now he seems like any other noble. I can’t believe that one day he suddenly stopped caring about anything.”

You can't help but wonder about what happened to the actual crown prince if he didn't become king. Well it was probably a normal struggle for the throne that happens.

“It almost makes me believe that he found something during the hero’s visit." She takes a deep breath in and out obviously not used to talking so much.

"I think this old woman man has talked long enough. I thank you for listening to my words. It usually isn’t a good idea to speak out about the king like I did. Even though he has suddenly locked himself away people still look up to him. Some even say that the nobles captured him and locked him up.”

“No need to thank me you gave me information that I would never have hoped to find in a small village such as this. It really explained a lot to me about my standing in this big place. It is not as wonderful as I thought it would be. Sigh! Maybe, I should just return home and find a place there.”

Ghost looks towards the sky thinking about how his brand new job actually offered him free room and board. -Wonder if they thought I ran away.-

“I think that would be a great idea. If you can find your way back that is.”

“I think I know the way back now, but just in case where is the next nearest human settlement. I want to see another village to compare the two. If they are similar enough then that explains that what I see here is the norm and then I should really just head to my nice and cleaner home.”

-But I won't not till I fix the wrong that I have done.-

“If you continue on the path just outside the gate and follow it to wherever it leads you should find a village in a couple of weeks maybe a month depending on your speed.”

“I recommend waiting for the supply caravan to leave for the next city. There are bandits out there and you seem to be the sort of person that they would target. The next village is called Belin. Which was named after the king.”

“It used to be a great town that was showered with care and affection by the king Belin, but not even it was spared from the onslaught of the nobles. The king didn't even pay any attention to it.”

Ghost has a internal debate about whether or not it would be a good idea to join a random group of people, but ends up deciding that he could do some good for once if he joined them.

“I would rather go alone, but if there really is a high chance of bandit attack I think waiting for a caravan would be better for me. Do you know when they usually come and go?”

“It is one of my jobs as a village elder to know such things so yes. I can probably convince them to take along one more person. You’re a dwarf which is rare around these parts and you look a little different than the normal dwarf.”

She stops to take a breath and then stares at him up and down. Probably wondering if if he was a runaway child instead of a dwarf.

Honestly he is probably pushing it pretending to be a dwarf, but it's probably the best excuse he can have for him traveling.

“You may be taller than most of your kind, but that would just make you look like a item to be picked up and kept by some nobles. Don’t worry the caravan is filled with nice people who even took in a unknown. Not as a slave, but as a family member.”

“They sound like good people and I once again thank you for all that you have done for me.Thanks to you everything feels a little bit clearer. I hope that life in this village returns back even better than what it once was.” Ghost half bows to her showing his thanks and gratitude.

“The caravan will leave in a couple of minutes, so you better hurry. They rarely come here, so I thought I should mention them to you. Once you meet them tell them that one of the elders asked them to take you to the next village!”

Ghost hears her say as he bolts away towards the town exit.

-I never learned her name. Maybe someone in the caravan knows it.-

Coming into his narrow vision are wagons being pulled by horses. "Wait! Don't leave the elder told me that I should join you!"

He shouts towards the large caravan. The mask obstructs his breath as he runs since he doesn't know to use it.

He thanks the divine that he already figured out how to turn off the cloaks weight effects. Luckily it may not have eye holes on the outside, but there isn't anything blocking his vision on the inside.

Chapter 4 part 2

The caravan luckily hears him and stops for him or else he would probably have kept chasing them.

"Who's making all that noise." A smaller than Ghost, well built man with a minor beard comes out of the first wagon.

He has brown hair and his short beard that went down to his chin showing hints of gray. "We have strict leaving times to keep on time it is not our fault if you miss us. Hurry up kid I won't give you another chance."

"Thank you sir" He increases his speed not wanting to cause the caravan to wait any longer.

"I am sorry for troubling you. A female elder said you probably won't be back for a while and I just don't have the time to wait for another means of travel." He says then full on bows to him showing how seriously sorry he is to him.

"There was no need to bow, but your apology has been accepted. Now tell me why a kid your age is hiding every part of your body and face. Also why you need to get to the next city so badly." He questions me while obviously trying to size me up.

"Everyone else thought that I was a dwarf I guess there is no use trying to fool the real thing. As for why I'm trying to hide my identity. Isn't knowing that I'm pretending to be a dwarf enough?" Ghost is utterly flabbergasted that he figured it out so quickly.

"Of course it is enough as long you won't harm my dear daughter that is. Humans and dwarves rarely meet each other so your act may work on them, but your too tall to be a dwarf.

“Even while wearing that cloak I can tell you're too weak. Dwarfs may be small but we're proud of our muscles and our alcohol.”

He emphasises on the muscles by flexing his arm and as he looks around the wagon he sees various steel barrel laying around.

So it's the stereotypical dwarf race in this world. I wonder if there is a world out there with the opposite version of dwarfs.

"I see. Well I promise you I shall do no harm to your daughter. I shall also promise you that if anything should happen I will do my best to protect your goods."

"I don't think a little kid like you will be able to understand your own limits, sojust watch over my daughter if we get attacked no more no less. Understand?"

"Completely, I won't try to do anything that I can't do. By the way you keep mentioning your daughter yet you have introduced her or yourself to me. I would, but sadly I can't. Also what's the elders name I never had the opportunity to ask."

His face shows signs of anger and then replies. "The elder is called elder. The king said to make it easier on him that all the leaders of the village should be both old and called elder."

"My real name is in dwarven tongue, but everyone just calls me Cat, since my wife does.”

“My daughter isn't really related to me since my wife and I can't have a child. She's a unknown and if you insult her in anyway I'll skin you alive. Daniela I found someone your age that wants to meet you."

He yells into the back of the wagon.

-For a man even shorter than me he sure can yell.-

"Coming daddy!" A cute yell returns the previous rough yell at a much less ear hurting volume.

A small girl comes into the room with slightly longer and pointed ears. They are barely visible and wouldn't be noticed if one wasn't looking carefully for them.

She also has short blond hair ear length that looked like it would barely be able to hide her special ears. But her hair is tucked behind them instead.

"This is here my pride and joy. Daniela this young lad may be trying to hide it but he is around your age. I want him to hang out with you while we travel so both of you can meet someone your age."

The dwarf named cat boastfully shows off his adopted daughter while the young girl blushes out of embarrassment.

"You can call me Ghost it's nice to meet you. I haven't met someone younger than me in a while. It probably would be nice to act like a kid again."

Ghost says while still using his usual mature tone, that he uses to get jobs a bit to old for his age.

She tilts her head then says "you say old words. Aren't you always a kid. I mean you're not an adult so."

"Yeah, I guess you're right Daniela." Ghost openly admits that he probably shouldn’t be using such a tone to speak to someone of similar age to him.

"Just call me Dani dad is the only one who uses that princess like name." The cute energetic girl keeps bossing him around as he tries to remain a good guest and not get kicked out.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

"As you wish." He says while trying to remain like a caretaker instead of a friend, because he doesn't want to make the seemingly short tempered dwarf get mad.

"You speak weirdly sometimes you know that? I think people shouldn't change nor hate others." She suddenly goes off talking about any random thing that comes to her mind not really thinking before she says anything.

"That is random and impossible you and I both know that." Ghost bluntly shoots down her go happy attitude in disgust.

"But, I want that! If I want that then others may want that. If others want that then." She tries to make a coherent argument but of course with her nonchalant attitude nothing good comes from it.

"Then what? Not everyone will think the same way as you. For what you say to become true everyone in the world has to think like that." Ghost stops her from trying to fry her brain over a issue that is impossible to solve.

"Well what if everyone does think that way and it's all a giant misunderstanding!" She says completely showing off how pure she still is even after what happened to her race.

"That's a long word coming from you and I don't think that the world would be better if everyone loved each other so there." Ghost gets more and more annoyed at how nonchalant she is about something so dreadful and serious.

About something that he was constantly pondering over solutions ever since he returned to Earth. All though considering his current attitude he probably still hasn't understood completely what he did.

"It's just a dream you don't have to squash it meanie." She sticks her tongue at him then storms off.

"Oi brat you didn't have to be so mean to her. I get you have matured a little bit too fast, but she is just your everyday bright young girl.”

“Can't she dream of a peaceful world. Hearing that from a girl who is mistreated because of race warms my heart. How could you just go and destroy her like that."

"You're right I was wrong in both ways. I acted like a kid arguing with her then like an adult. Should I go in now and talk to her or wait till she comes to me?"

Him asking the elderly dwarf shoes his lack of interactions with humans and his inability to understand how they feel.

"I'm not your all knowing guide you decide kid. That's part of life making your own decisions. I thought you would have learned that by now. Maybe you are more of a kid then I thought."

"Ok, I'm going to go talk to her than. She wasn't completely wrong in what she said."

"Fine, go straight inside and keep going till you see a pink door. Don't barge in knock and if she let's you in the good luck. If she doesn't then don't force yourself in. If I find you causing trouble to her I'm banning you from all of the carriages got that."

"Yes, sir. Thank you for your advice I will always try to remember it in the future." Ghost enters inside and follows Cat's instructions. He eventually finds the link door and knocks on it.

"Go away I don't care who you are. Even if it is mom I still won't let you in." A sad and lonely voice can be heard through the door. It hurts his heart a little that he actually caused her to become like this

"Well it is not your mom nor your dad, but I just wanted to say a couple words before I go to one of the other wagons.”

“I acted wrong earlier and I am sorry. Your dream is possible, but having no one hate anyone isn't likely. Instead you should change it to racial equality. So no one ever mistreats you or your parents." He says through the door hoping that this truth would cheer her up enough to have a stable conversation.

"Sniff is that really possible?" Her voice slowly changes from it's heartbroken to a little bit more upbeat.

"Of course it is. This caravan is evidence of that. No one minds you and the leader of it is a dwarf. Here I shall do everything that is in my power to make sure it can happen in this country. I know that may not sound like much but it is something."

She opens the door and hugs him then says back in her cheerful voice. "I believe in you Ghost!"

"Whoa, I don't know what I did to warrant a hug, but I'm glad your feeling ok now. So you are not mad at me anymore."

He just awkwardly stands their without hugging her back and tries to understand why she hugged him. This again shows how lacking he is in social interaction.

"You think just a couple of words and a promise will make me feel better? I am holding you to that promise to make this world equal."

"I can't wipe out racism, but there might be a way to make it less common. I don't know how you're expecting me to do this. We just met and you have no idea about anything about me."

"You're the one that said you would do it." She looks like she is about to start crying again, while Ghost is stumbling around not used to being near anyone his age, much less a female.

-Ugh she is right. Why did I have to say something so stupid. Well I guess it's not impossible.-

"Sigh! You're right I did say that." He resigns himself to his fate of not being able to argue back to her and just tries to make her happy.

"So, what you want to play?" She once again has a 180 degrees in her mood shift and asks about normal kid things.

"I don't know I never got to play with someone before. You're the first person who I met that treats me like a kid.” Ghost goes back to talking in his trying to be old tone and slowly makes the mood more depressed again.

"Same everyone shuns me because of my race. How about we tell each other who our favorite heroes are? Mines the most recent one whose name was never revealed."

"Why he wiped out your race and put you in this situation! Shouldn't he be your most hated hero?"

Ghost is visibly happy about how someone actually doesn't think bad of him but pretends to not like the ‘'mysterious’ hero.

"Don't let the story's you here fool you. Sure he killed hundreds of thousands unknown, but in the last battle he spared everyone and single handedly fought the leader. My uncle said that if they kept fighting the hero would have a bigger advantage."

"Was your uncle one of the people he spared?"

"Yeah, my uncle was all that I had before the war. Sadly he was killed by the people that the hero protected.”

Naturally if none of the people survived the incident than they would get rid of her uncle. The king probably wanted to rule over the unknown and his own people with Ghost’s fearsome reputation.

“You know sometimes I think that the hero didn't even know the whole story and if he did he would of helped us."

"You may be right, but it doesn't change the fact that he didn't help. Wanna play tag?" Ghost tries to change the topic by being random and completely changing the topic from his sad past.

"Yeah."

He chases her around the tiny wagon, while trying to cheer her up and stop these terrible conversation choices. He never actually manages to catch up to her and after ten minutes he has to sit for a second and catch his breath.

"Wow Ghost you're tired already. Why did you ask to play tag if you were going to get tired so fast?"

"I asked to play tag, because I thought it would be fun. Also no other games came to mind."

"Hahaha, you couldn't think of a game so you went with one you can't do. Why didn't you just ask me for a idea?"

"Because I am a idiot."

"Honey mommy is home!" A soothing female voice is heard from the front of the wagon.

"Mom! Come on Ghost let me introduce you to my wonderful mother."

Ghost opens the door and sees Dani's elven mom. Her ears are longer than Dani's and have a sharper point.

With waist length silver hair and eyes as blue as the vast ocean. Also, a modest sized chest with long legs.

"Ghost this is my lovely wife Siena. Siena this is a guest that is staying with us till the next village. He is hiding his identity and he probably has his reasons so please don't bug him about it.”

“You see if I'm this caravans merchant then she is my hired guard. She is also a amazing hunter which is great for saving money on food."

"Honey?"

"Yes dear?"

"Can you be quiet and let me talk to our guest?"

"Yes ma'am, I'm sorry." She drags cat away and starts to whisper with him getting quieter and quieter. Tge last portion of the conversation is barely audible.

"Now Ghost I want you to promise me that you won't mistreat anyone by race while you are on this trip. I understand that you are trying to hide your identity and are probably a noble of some sorts." She shows him one finger.

Than she shows a second finger. "Second is that I won't make any promises to protect a noble, so if your life's in danger don't look to me."

"Honey isn't that a little much?"

"I accept I can protect myself, probably." He interrupts the conversation before it drags on for the rest of this viewing.

"Ok then welcome aboard. I hope that you have a nice trip."

"Shouldn't you have ran in there screaming mommy? You shouldn't pretend to be something you're not." Dani blushes a bright red then runs into the next room.

-And that's the difference between you and me Dani. Sister why did you have to leave me.-

The wagon continues along its straight path as days pass by along with it. Not even an interesting animal appears just plains. Trees slowly start to show up again and animals can finally be seen.

"I'm going to have to go out and hunt again. The food we brought wasn't fresh enough. Most of it will be spoiled before we get to the next village and I don't think you want risk using the kingdoms supply ports."

"We can't if we do that we can pretty much kiss each other goodbye. Be careful this territory has had rumors of bandits."

"I know so always stay on watch and at least the magic beasts aren't as many."

"Wait if there are bandits in that forest then wouldn't they attack us after our guardian leaves?"

"Yes, but Ghost we really need the food and this is the best spot. It may have risks but if you don't take risks you won't get far in life."

"You sure you will be ok?" Ghost asks the motherly figure that he never really had.

"Of course I'm stronger than you think." She then leaves into the forest.

"Ghost why hasn't mom came back yet it's been hours."

"Come on out and give us all your supplies or we will kill you all starting with your youngest!"

"Bandits!" Someone screamed in the distance then a wagon is set ablaze.

"I thought I told you not to destroy the wagons." A tall buff man yells at a lanky skinny man.

"Sorry boss but they were acting suspicious." The lanky man replies obviously scared and shaking about why he got promoted to his new job..

"Ghost don't leave the carriage let me talk to them. Protect Dani while I try to negotiate for our lives.”

“Good sir, if what you need is supplies then I can give it to you just don't harm anyone anymore then you have."

"Little dwarf are you the leader?" He says while pointing at cat.

"Yes I would like to call myself the leader." Cat replies in a polite tone.

"Hand over someone to us and then start giving us all your supplies." He orders Cat who’s flabbergasted about the sudden order.

'Why do I need to hand someone over?" Cat's voice turns from confident into a very shaky and confused at the sudden change.

"Because you have to have some guards. I need to use someone as a hostage to make them surrender." He replies back as if it was obvious.

"Cat let me go." Ghost goes out and asks to be the bait to get closer to the bandits

"Ghost?"

"It's ok I have a plan. Mister I'll be your hostage please don't harm anyone." Ghost tries to talk in the more innocent voice he can. Kinda like how Dani naturally talks, but a bit more forced.

"What a nice little lad or are you take off the mask."

-Dang it if I take of the mask they might figure me out. Well this is in the middle of nowhere what's the worst that could happen.-

He takes off his mask slowly but surely. The bandit leader doesn't seem to care much about how Ghost looks.

"Plz don't harm me or my friends mister." He asks him still trying to sound like how Dani usually talks like.

"Hmm red eyes and blue hair. Do you wear that mask because you look like the hero? I would hide myself too if I looked like that monster. You can put it back on."

Ghost quickly puts it back on being scared that someone would realize who he was and be hated for his mistakes.

He slowly starts to walk up towards the bandits. "Please don't hurt me."

-Let's see there are only 10 of them I should be able to do it.-

"Don't worry I won't but I need another hostage. This one gave himself up too easily. I don't recognize him so that means he's new to the group. Dwarf give me your daughter the pride and joy of this group."

The bandit asks while seeming that he knows this caravan a bit to well and is actually targeting this group on purpose.

"Please no." Cat tries to stop them from taking his precious daughter but Dani stops him trusting Ghost.

"It’s ok dad" Dani goes up to the bandit leader courageously.

"It's ok Dani There is nothing to be afraid of." Ghost tells her as he can see that she's shaking from fear.

"I promise you that as long as I can see you will be safe." Suddenly 10 bandits fall to the floor. "Phew that wasn't fun."

"What happened?" Cat asks staring at Ghost in shock at what the little kid just managed to do.

"Your wife called me a noble didn't she? What happened was magic. Enough said." Ghost still doesn’t want them to know that he is a mass murderer.

"Well we promised that we wouldn't ask about you, so than I you for saving us." Cat starts to talk respectfully to Ghost, but slowly stops after realizing that it would probably not be what he would want.

"Cough! you monster."

"Oh you're still alive. I have a question why did you target the young girl and this group's supplies. If you lie you won't die but it will surely hurt." Ghost gives him a half assed threat, while trying to bluff his way into some convenient information.

"Spit! and how would you know if I'm lying."

"Touche."

"What?" He looks at Ghost confused as does everyone else, because of the lack of a good translation to some of his words.

"Nothing, fine if I think you're lying it will hurt a lot. Now let's see how does having a heart attack feel?" He tries to ignore the embarrassment of the translation not working that well for his joke.

"Ok, cough I was hired to take their supplies and kill the girl."

"By whom." Ghost starts to mess a bit with his blood

"I don't know he sent a representative to the meeting. Please I don't have an idea."

"Well thank you for your patronage." His eyes go lifeless. "Well seems someone is targeting you and before you ask no this sadly wasn't my first time killing."

"What happened to mommy?"

"Judging by how the men were acting she's fine. They were probably too afraid to attack us while she was here. They needed you for when she came back."

"You sure?"

"Positively."

"Thank you Ghost."

"So now we should just wait?"

"Probably." He continues talking even though it isn’t in his power to decide where the caravan ends up doing.

A female come out of the forest dragging an elk bigger then probably two of her. "Hey guys I caught a gigantic elk it's big enough to feed is for the rest of our trip. What happened?"

"We got attacked and Ghost saved us mommy. I was so scared." Dani says while running into her mother's bloody arms. She starts to cry out and pushes her face into her mother's chest.

"It's ok honey I'm here for you. Thank you for protecting my family." She pats her daughters head and starts to be very respectful to Ghost after realising how mean she was.

"Your welcome, as you said we should have enough food for the rest of the trip. So we don't have to go through something like this again."

The sky gets to it's peak of noon when they arrive at the next village and everyone decides that it's best that they stop here for now to let everyone rest and relax.

They all agree that after the bandit fiasco some of the members of their caravan might want to just sell their goods instead of waiting any longer.

Dani takes Ghost outside where the horses pull the wagon and then points out at the wooden city in the distance.

There are walls like the first city, but this time they were not made out of wood. Instead they are made out of a much more solid material maybe even concrete, but Ghost doubts that they have the technology for it.

"Ghost look it is the next city. The proud city of Gervis. Which is, of course, named after our grand king. Who is the only one who can protect us from the nobles."

"You admire the king?"

"Of course who wouldn't. He started out as the ring of his family but now look at him. He was also very kind from what daddy told me."

"So, you like the king and his story yet you don't even remember that his name is Belin and not Gervis? Anyways, I've been wondering why does your mom call him cat?"

"Uhh, was that the name of this city oops. Some people probably got mad at me for saying that instead, but I doubt everyone will mind my little error teehee. I don't know. Mommy why you call daddy cat?"

"Because dearly, he is just so small and adorable. Also, he is so docile the only thing that can fit him is cat." She goes off remembering when they missed each other and starts to go off into her own little world.

"Docile when we first met he threatened to kill me." Ghost wakes her up from her sweet sweet memories and laughs at what Ghost just said as if it's the funniest thing she has ever heard.

"He wouldn't have done it dear. He has a temper, but he can't really harm you. I got a brilliant idea! How about you take Dani out to visit the town. She doesn't really get to go out often since we are constantly doing work and I feel bad."

She says while staring at Cat completely lovey dovey and hints at Ghost to leave them for a bit.

"Ok, I promise I'll protect her."

"You better." She starts to actually threaten him seriously unlike Cat who probably said it half heartedly. There‘s even a little bit of killing intent in the air.

"Shouldn't we ask dad first?" Dani asks while being confused at why her mom is suddenly pushing her away.

"It's ok dear go and have fun I'll talk with your father when he gets back."

"Thanks mom. Let's go Ghost."

Chapter 4 part 3

They go out into the town which has large wooden buildings and a few buildings made out of straw. The amount of homeless has severely dropped between the two cities. "Where do you want to go?"

"I don't know dad says it's a bad idea to go outside when we visit a town. People won't treat me right he says."

He puts his hands on her shoulders and seriously replies back. "Well if anyone treats you bad I will protect you."

"Thanks but you don't need to constantly protect me. I can protect myself."

She pretends to act strong but isn't fooling anyone. Unknown rely on their physical strength so how strong could a little girl possible be?

"You sure. You don't look very strong to me."

"Don't underestimate me. There is more to me than you think."

"Oh really now."

"Yes, now let's go get some real food I'm tired of eating the same thing every day."

"I agree but what are we going to do about money."

Her stomach makes a cute sound while it's crying out for food. “I don't know dad didn't give me money saying that I should always be near him."

"Wait I might have some money on me." He pulls out a gold coin that was given to him by Liz that he didn't have the heart to pawn. He still has a couple more, but he’s slowly running out of them. "Will this do?"

"You really are a rich noble aren't you?"

"What you mean by that?"

"That gold coin is usually only found in the capital." She says while sharing at the shiny pure gold coin. "I don't know if you can get change for that here."

"Hmm it's strange to meet a fellow noble so far away from the other two villages, but we are also here so it's not unreasonable. Young one I can give you change for that gold coin." A man wearing purple robes with golden patterns over it comes up to them.

"Really?!"

"Of course who would I be if I didn't have money of the lower currency. It may be useless, but you never know what might happen. Remember young one don't always carry our noble currency. Some towns aren't even worth one silver much less one gold. So here."

He gives me a pouch filled with silver coins. "We nobles need to help each other, because we're the only ones capable enough to do so."

"Thank you, sir! I best be going I have limited time here and things that need to be done. Come let's go Dani."

"Let's meet back up in the capital young one. Your interesting and if you don't know people the capital can be a hard place to live in."

He shouts to Ghost as they quickly leave Ghost also hears him say "That brat didn't even ask me for my name. Interesting I will definitely find out who you are."

"That's nice now we can eat Ghost. Why didn't you stay with him he seemed pretty nice."

"Didn't you notice the look in his eyes when he saw your ears?"

"No." She says dejectedly while having a depressed look on her face. She also seems to be muttering random noises that no one can understand.

"It wasn't a look of someone who let you anywhere near his servant much less him. He probably thought you were my slave or something along those lines." The look in Dani's eyes changed from pure happiness to shock and then into a look of worry.

"Ghost you don't think he will do anything to us?" She asks worrying for her safety in a foreign environment.

"If he found out that you aren't my slave then I don't know. We need to keep our guard up. I don't know what might happen to us if we aren't careful."

"Ok." She looks sad and worried about what trouble she might cause her new friend.

"That doesn't mean we can't have fun. He probably won't follow us. I mean I'm just one noble of the many. No reason to pay special attention to me." He encourages her while not being to sure about the truth.

"You sure?"

"Positive."

"Ok, if they do try to do anything you will protect me right?" She looks at Ghost with bright eyes of expectation while thinking back to how he easily killed off ten men.

"Of course, but weren't you the person acting tough saying you don't need my help?" He jokes with her while trying to lighten up the tense mood and it works as she giggles for a bit.

She also blushes while saying, "He's a noble he can use magic what am I in front of magic. You should know that."

"Yea, I know full well how scary magic can be. Didn't your favorite hero kill thousands with that said magic?" He half jokes half regretfully says while having a bit of him wanting to get praised by his only fan.

"Stop making him seem like a bad guy.” She starts to get mad and tries to be a diehard fan and argue for anything that her idol has ever done.

Ghost secretly being happy about her reaction tries to keep a straight face as he be the bad guy in this argument

“You don't even know him. He probably took joy out of killing all of those people." He tries to make a decent argument for one of the reasons he could of did what he did.

In the end his imagination starts to run wild and imagine what would happen if one of the summoned was actually like that. Then he wonders about how his world will be different when he returns.

"You don't know him either so you also can't tell me what he wanted either." She sticks her tongue out at him and giggles figuring out that Ghost isn’t really that mad at him.

"I guess you're right what do I know." A mouth watering smell enters through both of their nose and makes their mouths start to water. They both look at each other and smile while they start to talk instead of just heading in the smells direction

"Do you smell that?" She asks me as if she is imagining the unbelievable smells taste and texture.

"Yea the smell is making my mouth water." Ghost says as drool drips down his mouth.

"Let's go then. Come on Ghost." She drags him along while trying to pinpoint the smell that is enticing her very being, calling out to every fiber in her body. The smell lead them to a small shop barely noticeable, since it's almost hidden in between two larger buildings.

"You sure this is it?"

"My nose never lies." She looks proud as she says that and puff her chest out.

"Well than ladies first."

"Why thank you."

They enter the small shop and start to take a deep breath of the smell of the food, if possible it smells even better without all the other objects obstructing it

"Welcome valuable customer please take a seat wherever you want. I am sorry but the owner is stingy and says that whatever he wants to cook is the menu."

-That explains why the shop can have good food yet no one ever comes.-

"I don't mind whatever he’s cooking smells divine!" Dani says before Ghost can even think about if he wanted to trust the chef.

He hesitates for a second before making his decision. "I agree the food smells so good and I’m also not a picky eater so why not."

“We got customers!" The girl who looks like she is in her mid teens yells towards the kitchen.

"Ok!" A deep male voice says from the kitchen.

"What's he cooking."

"No clue."

"So it's a mystery until it comes out."

"That's how it usually works."

"Ghost you sure we're safe eating here?" Dani asks with a worried voice.

"Of course unless you are allergic to any foods, are you?"

"No but what if he feeds us poison?"

"Why would he?"

"How about food that I don't like?"

"Then happily decline and run if he asks you to pay for it." Ghost replies as if it's the best way to solve the problem obvious solution, which it isn’t..

"Fine, you win."

"People usually leave after I tell them that there's no menu. People aren't courageous enough, dad says. I call him crazy.”

“Who would want to eat at a place that they don't even know what's coming to them. We barely ever get any customers even though he is an amazing cook."

"Would you eat here?"

"If I didn't know the cook, no I wouldn't."

"Oh I see, then we are fine. If you wouldn't eat here then I'd be worried. Since you would that means we're fine." She answers with her weird and naive logic.

"Foods ready." A man comes out of the kitchen with a plate of food in his hands. It has a cover it.

"Being a mystery till the ever end, huh." Ghost says while being extremely annoyed at how much the cook wants his food to be mysterious.

"It's more interesting that way, isn't it?" While on the other side of the spectrum Dani is just rolling with the theme seeming to not care at all about what she might be eating.

"I agree, but your friend doesn't seem to be that willing so I hope you both aren't bad kids and decide to run after seeing what I made for you."

"You think I would want to pay for something that I don't want to eat!? Why would anyone give you free money like that."

"True, how about this kid if you don't like it then I'll cook you whatever you want.”

The cooks seems to turn a bit gentle after seeing how his two customers are kids and gives them a bit of leeway. In all honesty selling mystery food would normally be a bad idea because of allergies.

"Deal."

He opened up the lid and what appeared underneath it was a type of soup. There was spherical noodles with a hole in the center.

Their is also a boiled egg in the middle with some type of meat floating on top. Finally there is a bit of square green objects with thick round vegetables.

“Whats this?” Dani looks at Ghost curiously while he proceeds to stare towards the server.Who also does not seem to know because she looks towards the chef who also turns to look at the ceiling.

“Dad!” The server can't help but yell at her dad and the open father daughter relationship that they share. The dad stops staring at the ceiling and looks at his daughter while trying to hold back a laugh.

Dani stops staring at Ghost and takes a deep breath of the fresh and delicious smelling food. “What? You guys never heard of this?”

He points at the weird soup and stares at everyone in shock. He eventually sighs and starts to explain everything about his creation.

“This is called ramen it's starting to grow popular in the other countries, because of a different hero who appeared in a isolated country and protected them from a invasion.

Ghost stares at him in shock while remembering what the tv station was saying, before he was summoned. Then he starts to think about how that Hiro guy and his team ended up building a academy.

One can't help but wonder how his world has changed with the introduction of mama into its environment.

The chef breaks our train of thought as he continues describing their meal. “Well to start the broth is made from the marrow of a bird called a chicken and the egg is from the same beast that the bones came from. The noodles are from a weird type of bread called rice from the east and the meat on top is from the closes representative to a pig beast that the hero described.”

“The way eat this is to use these two sticks to pick up the noodles and then use this spoon to pour the broth into your mouth.”

He takes out a pair of wooden utensils and puts it into the bowl. He then picks up the slippery noodle and slurps it up while moving the spoon into the bowl.

Ghost sees how hesitant that Dani is being with the weird foreign food and utensils, so he decides to go all in and mimics what the chef did.

Alast he didn't realise how slippery fresh noodles can be and they drop right back into the bowl. He tries again with a better grip over the new utensils and manages to barely get the noodles into his mouth. He then slurps them up, while taking a spoonful of broth to swallow.

“Dani, come on quickly eat yours. I can't describe how good this tastes.”

Dani hesitates but manages to get the courage to use the new utensils and tries to eat the new food in front of her. She, unlike Ghost, actually succeeds at taking a bite out of it on her first go.

The chef comes back and shows them that the egg in the soup isn’t hard boiled but soft boiled so that the yoke comes out after cutting it. He then proceeds to stir the freshly spilt yolk into the broth, while talking to them.

“Well that's about everything I have left to teach you about this strange new meal. I hope you enjoy it and spread around this fine cuisine.

After he leaves they enjoy their meal in peace and quiet while they slowly savor the flavors that they are tasting. The shop is empty besides the two shopkeepers, so they just enjoy their meal and current life.

Eventually their meal grows empty and the sun in the sky starts to go down leaving a few hours of daylight left. They decide it's for the best that they finish up their meal and pay for it to leave.

The sky grows dark and it's almost night. “That was such a fun day. That soup you made me eat was absolutely amazing and the look on his face when you gave him a gold coin for it was priceless.”

“Hey that wasn’t the only great thing about it, was it?”

“No the other things we did was fun, but that was definitely the highlight of this trip.”

Suddenly a sharp pain is felt on his neck and my viewing screen temporarily goes dark. You see as of right now I'm only a parasite that attached myself to a host to view their lives. I can't view without the help of them for now.

-Arg am I wearing a blindfold? Is that blurry figure Dani? Why can't I use my magic!-

"Dani is that you?"

"Ghost?" A faint scared voice can barely be heard in the already quiet room. There isn’t any other sound inside besides Dani’s scared hyperventilating.

Ghost muttering random chants off of his memory. Finally he decides that he definitely can't use any magic and that he should help Dani calm down.

"Its me Dani don't worry. Everything is going to be ok. I’m also here with you! You aren't alone I repeat you aren't alone.”

Ghost tries his best to calm her down and reassure her as well. Even though he also isn’t thinking straight and can't figure out how to solve this problem.

“Ha! Ok he says.” A familiar voice bellows.”News flash little kid. Nothing is going to be ok. You're the shame to us nobles. I thought at first that you had a cute slave, but no she isn’t a slave.”

“That bitch is your friend and you to were on a date. I almost immediately wanted to kidnap you right then and there, to take you off the wrong path and put you back on the right path.”

He continues on his insane ramble while making sure everyone is tied up nice and tight. He also starts to drag various things into the room making loud sounds.

“I continued to watch over you. I followed you ever since I gave you that pouch of coins free of charge. What did you do? You went to a restaurant that is owned by that crazy chef!”

“You actually ate the weird food their and then you had the audacity to continue and actually went shopping for this thing! With my loose change as well! Just making me think of it is causing my skin to crawl and my hand to itch.”

“I at first thought you were using some weird form of torture on her when you took her into his place, but after you bought new clothes for her I knew, I knew. You aren’t acting like a proper noble and instead are acting like a commoner. As your elder I took it as my job to do this. This is all for you remember that.”

He stops for a second while Ghost’s mind is running as fast as it can to try to get Dani out of this situation. He never expected that some of the nobles could be this crazy to their common wealth.

“Don’t hate me at the end of this. This isn't for me but for you. I want you to learn your standing in this world compared to this trash.” A high pitch scream assaults Ghost ears.

“You hear that sweet scream of your ‘friend’? Do you!? What should I do to her next.” Then the blurry figure kicks the kneeling figure and another groan rebounds against the walls of the room and echos out making Ghost shutter from the thought of the pain.

“This isn’t enough to make you learn your place bitch. Even if I killed you right here and know you wouldn’t know. No, you don’t deserve a quick death for deriving an innocent young lad of his purity. I'm going to make you regret ever being born.”

His somewhat gentle voice turns into being of pure anger whenever he talks towards Dani. It seems that Ghost has truly underestimated the people of this world.

“Please don’t harm her. She has done nothing wrong.” Ghost tries to plead out for the poor innocent girls safety, while also trying to figure out a way to get her out of this danger.

“SHUT UP! I’m the one letting you speak right now and yet you want to argue against my teachings and rebel against me!” A faint chant is heard and Ghosts face turns completely stiff. He can't speak nor can be even blink.

“Now you don’t even have the privilege to speak. You can’t even blink, so watch as I destroy ‘your loved one’. Now I'm not that bad of a guy, so you won’t have to watch it all and clearly see it’s face in agony. I at least blindfolded you, didn’t I?”

He then proceeds to hit Dani over and over again. Crying and the sounds of the beating stop the silence of the night. Then a heartbreaking snap is heard and an even louder scream echos the empty room.

“Wow that was the loudest scream of the night. Let's see if you can top that.” The more he tortures her the more pleasure can be heard from his voice.

The louder the scream will always follow a even louder laugh. He has almost forgotten why he originally did this as he slowly just enjoy the feeling of breaking bones.

“Plz, no more.” She says with a bit of a lisp because her mouth is bruised and cut. While she has lost most of her teeth as well as having a cut on her tongue.

Ghost tries his hardest to break out of the rope tying him, but sadly all of his ability is in his blood magic and none in the body.

“But, I’m just getting started, honey.” Another snap is heard and a scream similar to earlier is heard. “No, no, no and NO you're supposed to scream louder. Make this whole town sleepless. I want everyone to know what's going on. It’s not like they can do anything to stop me anyways. Hey kid what you think I should do next?”

He waits a little bit before going aha. “Sorry, I forgot I stopped you from talking. Here you can have one sentence. Got to make sure treatment is working.” He says as he finally remembers that this was supposed to be a treatment season for treating Ghost of his ‘problem.

“You're a madman, stop torturing her. I’ll do whatever you want.”

“You’re probably right. I probably am a madman, but I became a madman to help people like you. You still said stop torturing her. There are two problems with that sentence, you know what they are? First problem torture! What I am doing isn’t torturing, but setting her free! It should be happy that I’m eventually letting it leave this world. Second, is you called it a her. That doesn't have a gender but is a tool to for our survival.”

Another two snaps are heard and a scream even louder than the last one resounds the town. “There we go. Everyone must of heard that one.”

“Kill me, plz.” Dani who has long since given up on continue living her pathetic life begs for a mercy killing. The madman of course doesn’t bother with such begs and continues to make her suffer.

“Come on I haven't even done much to you, yet you want to die. *Sigh* Why do people have to be so weak. What should I do next?" He stops talking and just stands there thinking about what he can do to her next. He really wants her to scream till her throat can't release any more noise.

"Should I heal your injuries just to do it again. Nah that’s plain and boring. How about instead of breaking I start cutting things.”

The sound of a sword being drawn is heard while the blurry figure swings down and cuts. A wet liquid splatters onto Ghost’s face while he is to in shock to realise that it's blood.

All this time he's been trying to zone out everything, because he feels terrible for what has happened to her. Another deafening scream is then heard throughout the town.

“Wow that was the best one. I don’t think I can get a better one out of you. But, how about we try to get an even better one even if you probably can’t! Come on prove me wrong. Don't you like rebelling against my teachings?”

Ghost then licks the wet liquid that hit his face and realizes that it's blood. Spit! He spits it out and the blurry figure in front of the kneeling figure falls. But as he falls something that looks like a sword strikes the kneeling figure.

“Dani!” He makes the blood open up his restraints and then takes off the blindfold and see the disfigured body that was once called Dani.

“Ghost," she pauses for a second then says "kill me.”

“But we can still save you. Magic can heal your wounds don’t worry it's possible. Please don’t leave me. Not you too.” He starts to beg not realizing that this is all his fault and there was a plethora of ways to get her out of this situation. Dani just has a dull smile on her face as she seems to realize something

“Ghost, no one will heal me thanks to my race. I’m surprised he didn't cut off my ears or something along those lines. He cut off my right leg and arm even with magic I don't think I can have those back so please Ghost kill me.” She says while crying out empty tears since her tear ducts have long since gone dry.

“I am so sorry, but what am I going to tell your parents?” Ghost asks while not realizing that they never came over to stop the noble during this entire fiasco. He only now starts to wonder where they currently are, but Dani interrupts his train of thought.

“Tell them I’m sorry that I can't be their daughter anymore.” She has a begging look on her disfigured face and he looks over her wounds yet again figuring out that if they aren't treated soon she will die anyways.

“Ok.” He closes her eyes and sends out a needle into her brain, she’s dead. He tried to give her as quick of a death as possible.

-Why does this world keep taking things from me. First my sister now her.-

Tears don't stop following even while he leaves to find her parents. Outside a dwarf lies with his head chopped off and laying right next to his bodiless head.

-He must of went to look for us when we didn't return. I don’t see Siena at least, but who knows what has happened to her.-

“I finally found you.” An old voice is heard in the background.
